I've been going back and playing an old game: Roller Coaster Tycoon. :psyduck:
Felix, I've not tried the ME3 multiplayer. Is it worth stepping into? I've always been curious, but never played it.

I really enjoyed ME3's multiplayer, I hate that it could impact single player gameplay, but it's fun.

That's the good shit. I still bust out OpenTTD every now and then, and Theme Hospital ('The hospital administrator is cheating!')
You know exactly what I'm gonna suggest you play in the meantime :mrgreen:Might just do that. :-)
Civ 5 oddly enough. Why is that odd? It's an awesome game.
Personally I prefer Civ 4, though I've only played Civ 5 without the expansion packs, so it may be better now. Haven't played either of them in a long time, though.
I have been playing Civilization since Civ 3 and I must honestly say that I liked 4 the least of all, dunno why. I'm really looking forward to Beyond Earth, though.
Yeah, it's ridiculous. Ever tried to conquer a city stacked with fortified Longbowmen? Good luck with that. Those arrows will pierce your tank's armor like they are made of depleted uranium.I have been playing Civilization since Civ 3 and I must honestly say that I liked 4 the least of all, dunno why. I'm really looking forward to Beyond Earth, though.
I agree with your sentiment on Civ 4. Most of my issue with it stems from the fact that armies can stack infinitely.
I miss Civ 3, IV was weak, and V is pretty awesome. I have more time then I want to think about logged in it.Same here. Wasted many weekends in college playing that game...
A free steam game called Robocraft. It's awesome. You make a battle robot with blocks and cubes and prisms and stuff all minecraft style, then drive it in capture-the-base team battles. You play battles, earn tech points to unlock new blocks like faster wheels or hover blades or stronger cubes, and earn points to buy the stuff you unlock. I have sort of a drone gun platform thing with a radar jammer for stealth.
I played the original Civilization (and Civ2, and so on) as well, but I still think the newer versions are better.
None of you have said Crypt of the Necrodancer which makes me wonder why you're not playing Crypt of the Necrodancer.I have too much work to do! As soon as I'm done I will get that game though. For now, I'm playing way too much Hearthstone* and occasionally Borderlands 2 even though the latter is just a dumb treadmill most of the time.
SO with the upcoming Destiny, my gaming group's chant of 'Sell the Xbone Jeffrey, buy the PS4' has finally drilled through the ashamed pride of having bought it in the first place, and I'm seriously trying to find a buyer before september ninth. Hopefully I don't lose too much on it.
XBONE for sale?
which one and how much?
you take retreaded Canadian loonies right?
Is Plague Inc worth US$15?YES! I love that game. If you ever played Pandemic and liked it, you will like this too. I absolutely recommend it.
Hey Blyss, how far in Borderlands 2 are you?
FM14. I seem to go long spells on FM and long spells away from it.Is this like Civilization, where they declare war if you don't pay tribute?
Right now, I'm super annoyed that a bunch of Argentinian teams think I'll sell my leading scorer fro $0. Um, no.

(As long as you're playing as an English team and the game is in the Falklands, you'll probably be fine  ).
Hey Blyss, how far in Borderlands 2 are you?
Just made level fifty and started ultimate vault hunter mode. Damn. Just damn.
Nice, I've seen you playing and been thinking about joining you. I don't think I've tried Ultimate Vault Hunter yet, only True Vault Hunter mode
I got Civ V yesterday, then proceeded to play it from 17:00 to 00:00 (with about an hour break for food). This is not good.Don't worry, that's totally normal.
Rotating between playing Fallen Enchantress ...

For some reason I am incapable of achieving the new Cultural Victory (Tourism etc.). I got the old one (Utopia Project) easy but since the last addon I can't manage to get the new one. I usually play on king difficutly, I think that's 5? Anyway, I can manage to get every victory except for cultural on this difficulty and it annoys me so much.
I dug out Saint's Row: The Third for PC yesterday. My god I forgot how addictive that game is. :psyduck:I actually liked SR 4 better in the end, but that's like arguing which gold bar you like best out of a pile.

So. Borderlands is okay. Still feels like an MMO, and claptrap makes me want to hurt things.
Still playing Borderlands... it's not bad, but I see where Yahtzee was coming from when he says it feels like a slightly bland, boring MMO. Could use some enemy variety and terrain variety beyond "shooting Jason Vorhees in a scrap yard"
Alright folks (on the Xbox 360), time to put down Destiny and join me on Pandora's moon in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
I have been playing Civilization since Civ 3 and I must honestly say that I liked 4 the least of all, dunno why. I'm really looking forward to Beyond Earth, though.Civilization in Space?
My favorite Borderlands 2 gun is the rifle that berates you for using it. Also for not using it. For reloading. For not hitting a target....
I've heard nothing but bad things about dues exYou have been fed lies and slander by the cronies of the cabal of big publishers who want nothing but to keep us enslaved to iterations of the same games every year. The Y2K classic DEUS EX (as in Deus Ex Machina) is the best game ever.

Ah, I thought you meant the new one that got a metascore of like, 50.Oh my GOD, Deus Ex: The Fall was the first Deus Ex you learned of? That is a colossal injustice. Criminal.
Wait a minute. I just just checked and am wrong... wtf game was I thinking of...
EDIT for the 2nd time! I was thinking of Deus Ex: The Fall
Otherwise.
I think that every Deus Ex fan will agree that you should never speak of it again.
Oh my GOD, Deus Ex: The Fall was the first Deus Ex you learned of? That is a colossal injustice. Criminal.
Fuck no, it would be like if EA's mobile Dungeon Keeper game was the first someone learned of Dungeon Keeper. Actually, that would be worse!Oh my GOD, Deus Ex: The Fall was the first Deus Ex you learned of? That is a colossal injustice. Criminal.
That would be like if Brotherhood of Steel was the first Fallout someone learned of.
DEUS EX HUMAN REVOLUTION WAS A GREAT GAME AND I WILL PUNCH ANYBODY WHO SAYS OTHERWISE.

Then why don't you rebind it to its own key? You would have to be militantly retro to refuse that option.I tried that and it just made things worse. Like I was too used to the old format.
I have a lot of niggling issues with that game, honestly.
My favourite (most pathetic) niggle is that when a character takes their final damage to lose a match, they stand up again, only to immediately fall down. Every. Single. Time.
I played Honest Hearts on Fallout New Vegas.
Disputing my incredibly fucked up first run through, I think it's boring.
and the majority of the main quest is "walk there, get that."

So it's like most rpgs in that regard, eh?

spending my time between replaying Dragon Age 2 in preparation for starting inquisition while also playing some War Thunder and a few other games. You know, you only have to create Hawke and load up the save in DA: Keep.
I CALL SHENANIGANS ON THIS BORDERLANDS 2 SETUP I WAS GIFTED BY RNGESUS. I now have on my Legendary Catalyst Gaige a shock Topneaa (which can only be described as full-auto doomsday weapon) and an 88% absorb chance Sham (a shield that absorbs bullets shot at it). Clearing up a whole map takes -32 rockets. And I am not kidding. This is full blown bullshit right here.
Which is kinda funny because I was doing this with a friend that uses Zer0 and he was just watching things get destroyed. We went to a map where there's a boss who also likes rockets for a bit of a showdown and he literally disappeared. The boss I mean.
Rediscovered, bought, and completed Star Wars Republic Commando. God damn that was a great game for its time. Wish there was a HD remake :/Read the books. At least the first two.
I started playing "Mark of the Ninja" over the weekend, and so far I'm loving it. My only beef is that I can't play as the girl ninja. But then a girl could never be the clan's champion, remaining true to the cultural context, could she?
the Kantai Collection looks interesting.
but I'd need a lot of English subtitles to be able to play it.
I wanted to like Dead Island, but before long it was so much 'eh'.
They managed to salvage it with Riptide?
Join the Navy. See the world. Meet interesting people and kill them. Graft guns and missiles to the bodies of young women and girls and use them as weapon platforms. Instantly become an admiral. Date your subordinates without fear of repercussion. See your local IJN recruiter today!
At a training day at work recently I found a 3D version of Tetris. It's a little badly designed but it kinda just adds to the challenge. I wish I'd bookmarked the link.
Diablo III.
It's awesome.
haven't played yet, should I to sate this appetite?1000x yes
Witcher 2
If I have frame rate issues with Bioshock Infinite, would I have trouble running Witcher 2?haven't played yet, should I to sate this appetite?1000x yes

Hahah, Life is Strange is essentially Prince of Persia? Really? I admit I have never played either, but defining Life is Strange by its time rewinding mechanic seems like spectacularly missing the point, especially if the point of comparison is a third-person 3D platformer/brawler in an ancient fantasy setting. From what I've read the mood and setting of Life is Strange are far more like that of Gone Home, with its focus on the lives of adolescent characters in a bit of a magical realist world.
I heard the engineering bits to that game were particularly hard to grasp. Is there a watershed map in that game? That would make it much easier to build a dam.If there is I haven't found it. The only data it gives you is the flow rate of the river.
Watching all this Gundam makes me want to play the Battle Assault series agian
LeeC: Stick of Truth is good times, though I didn't finish it. And deeper (and full of references and nods to the back-catalogue) than I'd have given it credit for.Honestly its the best RPG game I've played in awhile. I was just so glued to it. I havnt been that glued to a game since playing the Mass Effect series.(click to show/hide)
I wouldn't put it on par with ME or DA or anything, but it's worth a rental at least, see if you're in the right mood for it.
From a short search I found this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Suit_Gundam:_Zeonic_Front)If they could only put that on steam or make an HD remake. By far my favorite gundam game. Weird thing is I played it before seeing the original Gundam series/movie. I was so lost when we ambushed White Base and Amuro started counting. I had watched a few other Gundam series but really grew to like the UC stuff. Wing was hit and miss for me. I just straight up couldn't get into seed.
It is a fantastic potato of a game, and super dark also.
I uh-- might have bought a Pokémon game
I fukken love Fallout.
I want to go through once with bad karma to see how that goes, I've not even hit Level 2 yet and it's already making me feel bad about myself. These aren't even real characters and I'm feeling guilty! I'm not sure I'll make it through the whole game just being a dick to everyone, I'm just not sure I can do it, I just wanted to open up new quest lines.I have the same "problem". I did manage to force myself through one Closed Fist run in Jade Empire (https://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,28887.msg1168452.html#msg1168452), so that I could see the CF content, but I really didn't enjoy it much.
And I think I let the ghouls into Tenpenny towers.
I haven't even had a desire to be evil in New Vegas. But then I can't even muster the desire to finish the game. After getting revenge on Benny it's just like 'eh, I don't care which of you takes over, and I don't want the job. Except the Legion. Those guys are just full on jerks. I wouldn't take their side.'
I just spent several hours making a terrain map of Madison, Wisconsin, in Cities: Skylines... it was a bit more difficult to make than the map I made of Norman, Oklahoma in SimCity 4 (flat terrain, hastily add river, done).
edit -- the map of Madison (obviously the city itself hasn't been built yet):

Before the covers in Bioshock: Infinite, Alan Wake was the best use of commercial music I'd ever seen in a game, hands down.
Bright Falls: Rock'n'Roll capitol of the USA.
Picked up new vegas again and moding it. I never knew there was a "good" ending for Black Mountain Radio. I was able to sneak in without killing a single mutant (well except a few centaurs but I don't think they count).(click to show/hide)
next up, getting that remnant armor via fighting deathclaws and cazadors!

Re: Skyrim, I can't play it on PC anymore. Not since I discovered the Randy Macho Man Savage mod that replaced all of the dragons and their audio files. I mean, it was beautiful, but I think it broke Skyrim as a serious game for me
I only recently discovered borderlands and now I'm playing through the Pre Sequel and yet I really *really* should be studying but I can't put the damn controller down :psyduck:

to find the race and class combos I like.
What is that picture from, Pilchard? That is a cool looking ship.

All Orc and Argonian, all the time. Maybe Kahjit once in a while.
There, that was easy.
I'm surprised you'd use the E-Gun. It's got a moderate damage output and is basically a stripped back Incendiary laser minus all the advantages of having Incendiary.
I'm stuck on the DLC for Pre-Sequel. Currently playing a Brotrap (That is, Claptrap with fully specced max health + regen), Torgue Shotgun, The Pitchfork, Moxxi's Vibra Pulse, and the Corrosive Hail SMG. Oz kit is an Acidic Juggernaut kit, 'nade mod is the Snowball (It's fun for the whole family, Jack). Stuck at the end of the "Enter The Claptrap" DLC, atIt's damn near impossible. It's just one big goddamn grind, I tells ya. No real strategy to be had. I need a second player, methinks.(click to show/hide)
Finally started playing Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U. The gamepad is pretty uncomfortable way to play so I'll probably be getting a controller or two to play it.
Pretty sure he means the WiiU gamepad:Finally started playing Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U. The gamepad is pretty uncomfortable way to play so I'll probably be getting a controller or two to play it.
Yeah use a Gamecube controller. It is so ridiculously unbalanced to play with a Wiimote. You end up missing about 65% of your move set.
Maybe he was recommending an actual GC controller. Nintendo sells adapters for the WiiU.
The controller that comes with the Wii-U is just bizarre.
Seconded. I was very surprised how good it could be handled when my roommate got his WiiU. It's a bit awkward at first but you get used to it pretty quickly. The controller that comes with the Wii-U is just bizarre.
You know, everyone I know who said that (myself included) was pleasantly surprised at how good it still feels when actually holding it in their hands for the first time.

You can get an extra 1TB for like 50 bucks these days (as an external HDD).
The Humble Bundle end of summer sale has been on for a few days and I ran out of HDD space. When I bought this PC, I thought that I wouldn't even need a 500GB disk, but that was the smallest I could get. Uy...Could be worse. I've got a 120 GB SSD in my laptop. It's always full.
"Case took the pink handset from its cradle and punched a Hong Kong number from memory. He let it ring five times, then hung up. His buyer for the three megabytes of hot RAM in the Hitachi wasn't taking calls."Thank you - I was starting to worry about being the only one nerdy enough to think about an appropriate Gibson-quote on the topic (And from Neuromancer, no less ... ! :-D).
WG: (http://www.williamgibsonbooks.com/source/qa.asp) I think nothing dates more quickly than science fiction. Nothing dates more quickly than an imaginary future. It's acquiring a patina of quaintness even before you've got it in the envelope to send to the publisher.
Been playing the Phantom Pain.
You know, for all the faults people are finding with the game, it still feels like one of the best games in the franchise.

It really is a good time.
Quiet's annoying (put some clothes on, damn) but y'know. Kojima.
hahaha. To true.
I've been playing Fallout 4. I'm actually surprised. I expected a good, if buggy game. But I was keeping my hype-train on low power. I know what happens when you expect to much. Then even a good game seems like a disappointment to the Second Coming you were expecting. Even so, Fallout 4 has impressed me so far. The writing is a bit... Bethesda. Okay, but nothing new under the sun here. Faces and animations can be pretty wonky at times. I'm looking at you Mama Murphy. And the feral ghouls. But I'm super enjoying the game. I can never wait to play more.
There is just no urgency to the main quest, as usual. And there should be. Instead you get constantly side tracked by helping out other people and poking through interesting ruins. You could say that such is the nature of open world games. But the original Fallout did give you a sense of urgency, so that you wanted to spend your time tracking down the water chip. Side quests were often obstacles to the main quest.
Going to throw this one to the panel: what is your favourite Star Wars single player campaign PC game?I'm gonna throw a curveball and say that the Rise of the Empire campaign from Star Wars Battlefront II was the best. Either that or Republic Commando (even though they were both optional co-op)
I'd rather have another straight up Fable game..
Jedi Outcast was one of my absolute favourite games. kotor 2, on the other hand, I could not get into at all.
Going to throw this one to the panel: what is your favourite Star Wars single player campaign PC game?I've only played two; KotOR and KotOR2. I enjoyed both very much, though I played them as a gunslinger because lightsabers are stupid*. I think KotOR2 is the better game, but only if you apply the restored-content patches. Out of the box, KotOR is better.
Started playing Terraria... I have no idea what the plot is or what the goals are.
I've just ordered an Xbox One Forza 6 edition, should be getting it in a week or so. I'll be hitting that as soon as possible.Add me on Live when you get it, man! Gamertag is LJ Felix :)
Anybody else here playing Endless Space?
If you're talking about Metal Gear Solid 5, I'll say that it's exactly the kind of game that sucks *me* in.
That said, it's very Kojima. Yeah, that's how I'll put it.
I own Endless Space, but haven't started it yet.

Well, if any of you feel like playing a round, you can add me on Steam (just send me a PM and I'll give you the link to my profile). I'm awful, though, can't even win against an easy AI. But I love the game.

Ah yes, the fun of wasting resources extracting the local fauna! I like to imagine Kaz is on the Command Deck when he gets a report of Snake has fultoned another animal for the Conservation NGO, he looks up and sees a bear hurtling towards him with all the indignation of being tranqed and having a balloon attached to its foot.
That'll learn him for insulting Quiet.

Well it's like a pool shark or card shark, but y'know, different venue. So, according to Google, someone who is really good and dominating the game? Basically the opposite of me.
That's part of it. The other part is that they pretend to be really bad at the game, so as to lure unsuspecting marks to play against them, thinking it will be an easy win... Any idea what are the ranges for Drivatar difficulties? Because I have both games in "Highly Skilled" and damn them boys trash.
I've been playing more Dark Souls again. I suck hard at it, but I'm having fun in small doses.
I should you know... finish Oblivion at some point...
There's something about getting close to the finish that makes me not want to go any further.
Holy shit Ori and the Blind Forest.. I feel bad for the artists that have added their beautiful imagery, music and story to such a mess of a game..
Thought I was in for a light platformer focused on story and atmosphere, in the vein of Limbo. Oh boy was I wrong. Playing this shit is pure torture. So many bad gameplay decisions it seriously puzzels me how anyone thought this would be a fun experience.
I picked up a second-hand copy of Assassins' Creed IV:Black Flag for the One a couple weeks ago. Burned through it and now nearly at 100% synchronisation. God this game was so much better than Unity or virtually any of the others in the series.
Side note: why am I going back and playing games I've already played instead of working on the backlog of unopened new games I have? I have no idea. Despite my love for BioWare, I haven't played past the introduction for Inquisition, ditto for Shadow of Mordor.
I've also got Destiny, Watch Dogs, Sunset Overdrive and Rise of the Tomb Raider that haven't even been played once yet.
Oh well, back to a Mass Effect 1 playthrough for me..
I was idling on a Miku stream last night and suddenly Nep franchise sale, so I bought all three. Started playing the first one and no regret.
I see you're also the type of person that does that. The only long RPG I think I ever finished (besides Oblivion) was fallout 3. I didn't finish New Vegas, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Farcry 3... I finished... Borderlands 1 and 2?

Like this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06GusR-tl7Q)? (Have patience with me - I'm old ...)
You guys, too?
Basically, when I come close to the last quarter of a game, I spend so much time perfecting the character stats/ammo/items/whatever that I get bummed out over it, loose the immersion and never see the end.
Latest additions to the "95% club" include Shadows of Mordor, Witcher 3 and MGS-V ...
(Not completing MGS-V makes me sad, though - I've rarely encountered a game with that much "pull". Not since I turned 20, that is ...)
... and now I need a fresh fix. Any suggestions?

Eh.. that's usually not it for me. It tends to be the draw of other things that gets me into other games and away from whatever I was playing. I'm one of those people who can only do the same thing over and over for so long. My room mate and sit down for like 6 hour+ marathon sessions of a game. I usually get bored after an hour. Or in the macro terms, I get bored playing the same game usually well before reaching the end of those 60+ hour games. Or if it's a game with options, I'll get into one class or whatever for a while, then want to try another. I'm the classic altoholic. It was easier to stay with a game back when there were a lot fewer options... But these days, with major RPGs coming out on a regular basis, dozens of MMOs competing for my attention, MOBAs, battle arena games and oddball games like Minecraft.. not to mention my non-computer gaming hobbies all competing for my attention... it's actually a rare and special game that can keep me locked in for very long.
People sometimes ask me what kinds of games I play ...
I tell them:
All of them!!!
I gotta buy Sunset OD at some point.
Oh, I really need to get that installed. What fleet are you playing? Or are you going story mode?I'm doing story mode which is Imperial centric. Orks seem fun!
Bugger.
Obviously I have not seen the new game, other than trailers and preview clips on YT, but I think the "mechanical apartheid" thing could make sense if only a small minority of populations were augmented, which was the background of the original game.(click to show/hide)

Finally got to do something I've always wanted to in Overwatch, ram someone off the edge with Reinhardt. I might have gotten 3 people if I hadn't accidentally used that hammer slam button but as it was I still plowed through a Junkrat and dragged along a Mercy with me into the void. And I got play of the game to boot. This kind of makes me think of throwing someone off the edge with DK in Smash, such a dick move. That sounds like an incredible play of the game, too!

I had an amazing experience last night where a storm rolled in as I was hitting a scrap spot. I had to get out of my car 3 different times so Chumbucket could heal it up enough for me to drive it. Somehow I made it back to Gutgash's stronghold. Also, outrunning some enemy cars in a scrap truck with low health and only one wheel.
Widowmaker, What are you doing? Widowmaker, stahp.

As you can imagine, Irestarted the campaign mode.settled on a draw.
Right now I'm playing my least favorite game "What is it about the new patch that broke my Fallout 4 saves and how can I recover them?"
I got her Monopoly for her birthday and we're getting bags of fun out of that as well, playing against two bots on various difficulty settings.

Anyone here played Grim Dawn? Thoughts?
Tell me about it... So far I've got the Zenyatta voice line, a player icon and... the Zenyatta voice line again.

Grim Dawn.
This is a helluva lot closer to the Diablo 3 I wanted than Diablo 3 was.
Finally started playing Overwatch. Good at the shoots, not good at the MOBAs.
Just bought Mass Effect: Andromeda. Installing it now! I've heard this is more space exploration and colony building that the recent titles so I am jazzed about putting the old N7 suit back on and tumbling around in a rover tank. Please do tell me how it goes! I'm having to wait a couple of months to play it until I can afford a new rig and I WANT TO PLAY IT SO MUCH!
I'm still playing Skyrim as well, all these years later. In fact, I just had a 'first' the other night, finishing the Dawnguard DLC for the first time. Part of the issue is that I have problems sticking with just one thing.. I'm easily distracted and come up with new characters I want to try all the time. So a lot of the 'later game' stuff and some areas I haven't been through, even though I've had the game since it launched. I've done the first 20-30 hours so many times though...

I played some of the first Witcher a few years ago. I can handle the quirks, but my stupid decision to play it in the highest difficulty meant I eventually reached a point where it got excessively frustrating and I ended up stopping.
I really don't want to play the second or third games before playing the first one, though.
I finished The Sexy Brutale and I want a tattoo of something to do with it fuck this game I love it so much.
Picked up Shadow of Mordor for 4 Bucks in the steam sale. I did not expect a mix of an Arkham and Assassin's Creed game in middle earth but I'm not complaining. This is pretty fun.
The lengths Arkham Knight in particular goes to uphold the whole "Batman doesn't kill" thing are hilarious.
I mean, you can hit a guy with the Batmobile going at high speeds, something that can tear the corners of buildings, and he'll be sent flying, but not die because he actually only took an electric shock.
No Man's Sky.I downloaded it and tried to play it, but it wouldn't run on my computer...
But I also skipped the hype, and just wanted a new Noctis. So far I feel pretty good on that count.
But what got you?

I got Fallout 1, Tactics and 2 from Steam.
Fallout 1 is nut-bustingly difficult so far, it really doesn't meet the user in the middle, but I think I'm too used to the newer games. I am getting annihilated at almost every turn.
I'm still alive.
Overwatch is still a thing. Not the only thing. But some of my friends play too. It's fun to play with friends. We talk. We bitch. I heal or tank. Mercy/Rein, when I can get it. cuz i can't aim
Should I get the new Star Wars Battlefront II game? I know people are pretty divided, mostly from EA's handling of it, but is it a fun/good game to get? Or should I not waste my money?
I'll probably get Monster Hunter World next month, thanks to money and time limits. I'm still on the fence to get it on PC or PS4 though.

I am too much of a scardy cat to play scary games
Have you played Until Dawn Thrillho? Its about a bunch of teenagers in a private ski lodge and you have to do your best to keep them all alive...until dawn! Its an homage to slasher flicks and monster movies. It plays like a choose your own adventure book with some QTEs for the actiony parts. Its pretty fun to do with a partner or group.
So I saw one of my best friends over the weekend and we burned through the main campaigns of two games and the DLC of one of them. I'll come back to the second one later.
First up - Until Dawn. Spoilers below, if you've not played it.
If you're a fan of horror movies, good or bad, then this game is for you. Take every horror game, novel, TV series and movie and throw them in a blender, staple it together into an episodic adventure that has a handful of Quicktime events to justify calling it a 'game' and you know what Until Dawn is. The idea of the game is to choose whether or not to help a cast of eight characters survive the night by helping them with their decisions. It's got a big 'butterfly effect' thing, which it drills home so many times in the opening credits that it may as well say 'I MEAN LET'S BE HONEST IF YOU'RE PLAYING THIS GAME THEN YOU'RE CLEARLY A MORON SO LET'S GO OVER THIS SHIT A FEW MORE TIMES.'
It is the exact, perfect mix of a great game and a terrible movie, which means that to play it with friends is an absolute blast. We took turns playing it, and had an enormous amount of fun laughing at it, laughing with it, occasionally actually getting scared, and making fun of the truly laughable gameplay-stretching stuff. Here is the way that the game works.
- You need to open the door.
- Press X to activate the QTE.
- Press R2 to grab the handle.
- Push the right analogue stick up, then clockwise to turn the handle.
That's three stages to open a fucking door. What a beautiful joke this fucking game is, it's like a 90s FMV game on 10 discs. I do like that it's lacking in retries; if you kill off a character, they are donion rings, no takesies-backsies. I HATED on the other hand, the 'LAST TIME ON UNTIL DAWN' sections, partially because they're unskippable and partially because they are sometimes flat out wrong (on more than one occasion I saw footage in the 'previously on' which I had not seen when actually playing the earlier scene.)(click to show/hide)
It's not a good game. I'm not sure you can really qualify it as a game so much as a choose your adventure novel made digital flesh. But if you're in a party atmosphere, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I am so glad that Subnautica has been fully released. I envy anyone who gets to play it blind because there are so many bits and pieces of the game that I've seeen built from scratch, but finally getting to FINISH the game after all this time? It feels SO GOOD. Literal tears.
Also, it's one of those great games that has scary bits in it even though it's not inherently a scary game. To me, scary bits in an otherwise NON-horror game are SO MUCH SCARIER than scary bits in a horror game. It's like, what's scarier? The zombie dogs in R.E., or the Wallmasters in Legend of Zelda? One you kinda expect, the other just comes out of nowhere the first time you see it.
Ugh, still rolling the boulder up the hill in HoI4 by trying to get France to beat Germany in 1936 only for it to roll back down and have to start again. I can form the Little Entente sure, but after the war they wont let me take all the German lands (needed for an achievement).
[...]
I can form the Entente but not call them in the war which will make Germany pull troops off the line to cover a potential Czech invasion but by then, If I didn't grab and hold enough German territory to increase my factory count, then I might as well call them in. See second sentence above!
To be fair, Morrowind is nearly 16 years old. Its engine isn't really up to much any more, especially because since Morrowind's release, we've had Oblivion and Skyrim. Even with mods, its hard to get Morrowind to a point where it can compete against the more recent entries.
However, I did like Morrowind, a lot. Which is why I'm still excited about Skywind, which is seeking to recreate Morrowind using the Skyrim engine. Technically its a mod, but a mod the size of a full game.
Dunno where I saw it, but someone of my acquaintance, somewhere, mentioned Doki-Doki Literature Club to me.
Being naturally curious, I had a look.
And ended up running through the whole thing until 04:45...
(Maybe the best time to play it actually!)
It has its flaws, but for what it is, certainly an atmospheric 'game'.

I am apparently in the minority that hated it. I suffered through all that anime bullshit to find out what the point of the game was, and then, surprise! Horrible things happen for no reason! And we're so meta, you can mess with the file system and affect the game! Oh, but not too much, we're only railroading you into making exactly the changes we want. What a waste of time.
But messing with the file system, pretty unique, no? :)

Not really. Undertale did it, OneShot did it...

Undertale doesn't play with the file system, but it does get "meta". That's all I can say without spoiling it. It does a much better job throwing you for a loop than Doki Doki. Doki Doki didn't shock me because user tags on steam and content warnings give away the nature of the twist even if they don't give away the twist itself. That said, I would NOT have wanted to play it without those content warnings. When the initial twist happens, it is powerful and shocking. The big plot reveal near the end was much more... meh.
The spoiler here is real. Content warnings and all that.(click to show/hide)
(right now there's something I've tentatively dubbed 'Mount Llama' because it's a mountain that vaguely looks like a llama from the angles I usually approach it, and has llamas living near it, and also there's a natural lavafall out of its butt)
I figured out how to take screenshots. I've gotta look through them later and figure out how to put them on the internet. I guess probably my twitter account would work...
Jesus Rook. I can't play Amnesia or those kinds of games, really, let alone something with that extra curve ball.
It's interesting, I'll grant. What's your personal level on it, though?

I am really not happy about the direction they are going in. There was promises that this was going to be a 'morally grey' story with no clear good and bad guys... and this is how it launched. Sylvanas was always bad, but she had nuance and reasoning. After the death of Arthas she's been getting steadily worse. I've always loved her character and I was hoping that becoming Warchief would be a chance to turn around this downward slide. Instead she's falling right into the Garrosh pit and become a cartoon supervilliain. As a long time Horde supporter, I'm defecting until/unless there is some sort of rebellion quest line later. I just can't be part of that Horde. Certainly not again. As a long time Sylvanas fan... I'm just sad. Her Warbringers video for me just destroyed her character. There's no coming back for me and I just feel sad when I think about her now. All the options they could have gone with, this is what they chose. And no matter how they try to explain it away it's just going to feel weak. Or perhaps worse, they won't and say 'Nope, she's 110% evil, enjoy your new Warchief raid boss'.
A friend has read the accompanying novella and gave me the gist of the latter half, which I will put in a spoiler.(click to show/hide)

Speaking of lists, I am a fool and have started playing Dark Souls again.
I was also a fool and have been playing Dark Souls 3 again. It took a few weeks for me to remember why I stopped playing it in the first place.
I'm aware of the game, and I have no interest in playing it, but I'm confused by what you mean. Is 'hard' harder than 'DS-hard'? What about 'Nintendo-hard'?
We then asked the Netherlands if we could have the Kaiser back and sure enough Kaiser Wilhelm II was back on the throne and the Kaiserreich restored.

I think I am going to finally get a next gen console and pick up the Nintendo switch. I know I want to get Breath of the Wild and play a lot of the Nintendo classic games (original Zelda!) but does anyone have any recommendations for the switch? I saw that Lets Go Pikachu (Evee) is a recreation of Gen 1 pokemon (red/blue) but with a pokemon go style catching system and motion controls. Looked interesting.
Fallout 76. There is a good game in there. Yes, it's buried under typical Bethesda bugs, and company's first time making an online game issues, a typical amount of 'full price game with cash shop' greed, unfinished game on release problems and some just plain stupid decisions. But it's still a Fallout game with a ton of stuff to do and explore.
Red Dead 2 is probably going to be my next actual game purchase, only my second purchase and third ownership of the current gen.
Also probably be my second play of anything current gen, given I never touched Witcher III. Without a 12-hour day to break the spine of the gameplay I've got no hope of finding time to work on that shit.
ShitshitShit - I'm missing the lunar New Year Sale on Steam because my stupid rig decided right now is the best time to go tits-up.
Does anyone have any experience with the Steam-app on Android? Don't want to end up getting my account hacked.
Also:I probably need 16Gb of DDR3 Ram to fix the rig - any recommendations what to look for? (brands, specs etc)

Did the ATS devs ever adjust down the amount of open, operating weigh stations? I remember that they underestimated the dilapidated state of the American infrastructure enforcement system, as it were.
Counterintuitively, the knife is the best weapon for most of the Birkin fights. Because of the sweeping motion you hit several hitboxes at once which when you total the damage is comparative to a shotgun round hitting all at once. Plus in later fights, there's probably going to be at least one eye open and if you can hit that you're going to be doing some extra damage.
Of course, you still have to survive the fight...

I've been checking the buzz around Cyberpunk 2077 - anyone familiar with the RPG it's based on? Is it a variation of that Shadowrun-Universe?
What about CP2077 gave you the impression that it's based on or related to Shadowrun?
CP2020, as tabletop games go, was very popular in Poland at one point, by pure happenstance. It was one of the first published tabletop games in Poland alongside AD&D and WFRP, and many older players know it because of that - when the hobby was being introduced here in 1980s and early 1990s, people played and knew the few games that someone happened to publish here. And the decisions to publish one game over another were often rather arbitrary.
CD Projekt being a Polish developer, I'm like 90% sure that CP2077 as a game was created because many people in the company are nostalgic for an old RPG from their youth ;) from what I understand, the game was never that popular in gaming circles in the West, it was niche at best.

I don't know whether people in the WestTM weren't as eager for the Cyberpunk thing - Gibson is American-Canadian, Mike Pondsmith is American, nevermind Neal Stephenson and Bruce Sterling ... and there was enough of an appetite for them to make a good living off it. What is probably true is that Cyberpunk never really came to be a dominant cultural paradigm, instead simmering kind of in the background for decades. There's been a fairly steady flow of cyberpunk-ish movies (Blade Runner perhaps most obviously) and video-games (System Shock series, and Deus Ex series, for example). But maybe <anything>-punk can't become a dominant cultural thing without ceasing to be punk.

I just wanted to be a gun-slinging space-pilot like Akima Kunimoto, was that so bad?
“There’s just something about those games that I find so satisfying,” he says. “There’s new DLCs coming out all the time and I’m looking forward to whatever the next one is.”
Been replaying RE7 for research on a podcast friends and I will be doing soon.Ive watched SGS play that on several occasions. Its great!
Playing Pokemon Shield. I am endeavoring to come up with a Godzilla team. Because I have shield I was able to get a Tyranitar to be Big G himself. Hydreigon would be ideal for Ghidorah but unfortunately the are exclusive to sword whereas I have shield. Frosmoth will be Mothra (sorry butterfree). I think Turtonator will make a decent Anguirus but is also sword exclusive. Haxorus could pass as Destoroyah (sans wings).
So basically I have:
Godzilla (Tyranitar) rock/dark
Mothra (Frosmoth) ice/bug
Destoroyah (Haxorus) dragon
Kind of lost on who to collect to get a team of 6. Togekiss (fairy/flying)could pass as Rodan I suppose, but its a bit of a stretch. I suppose I could use a Crawdaunt as Ebirah, but I always felt Ebirah was lame.
Ghidorah (Hydreigon)
IRONSWORN is a table top rpg designed to be run solo. It's a sort of bronze age era fantasy game where you design the world and narrate your own adventure that you make up as you go along. The rules are designed to keep the story and action flowing while giving you all the tools you need to help keep your creativity flowing. And the art in it is fantastic.I miss the NES version, even if the cover art had "not" Fabio on it and the character you play as was covered head to toe in armor. I can still hear the music!

One side effect is the game offers you a statue to build for every hour that your people stay happy. The statues are a waste of space, so I don't bother building them. The AI, on the other hand......
I threw 20€ at EA some time ago. Luckily, it was over Steam, and a share went to Petroglyph. Yes, I went down Nostalgia Road, and got C&C and RA Remastered. And that's basically what it is: Nostalgia. They amped up the engine and graphics, but everything else basically is what it was 25 years ago. ... Aaaand I just made myself feel old.
Also, I preordered Horizon: Zero Dawn for PC, and I'm hyped. I've seen most of the game on Twitch, but I still want to play it myself, it's just such a good story IMHO.
Oh shit! Are Red Alert and Red Alert 2 available in Windows 10 compatible versions? When I last looked I couldn't find any.

I do notice that although I have clocked in 400+ hours in the game, I have only ever finished a campaign 4 times (including this one). I can't be the only one that plays a campaign for 100 turns before wanting to play another faction because it got too easy or needed a flavor swap, right? Its like "turn 100 ADD" or something. I think there is a technical term for it (not ADD of course) but I forget what it was called.
I'm still very new to videogames, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I am having fun with it.
Been playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla. While not quite as good as Odyssey thus far, I am still enjoying it. And it's cool to have a story featuring my own heritage. Getting to play viking shieldmaiden is really cool. I'm still very new to videogames, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I am having fun with it.
I've been on a puzzle game binge, including Baba Is You (which has totally defeated me), A Monster's Expedition (which I completed, not including the bonus puzzles) and because I still hadn't had my fill, I went back to Hexcells Infinite because someone informed me its random puzzles can be set to 'hard' now, which makes them FAR more interesting. I haven't played any Hexcells in at least a year, but it feels like I was making the same leaps of logic yesterday!
Have you played ilomilo yet?
I know it seems dumb, but after months of work, the foundations for my Pantheon Palace in Conan Exiles is done. Now I can actually build the stupid thing. You can see some of my guards standing on a nearby platform for scale. The reason it took so long is foundation squares and triangles take a lot of processed resources coupled with me only able to play at night for an hour or two. Walls, columns and ceilings are like 1/3 the amount of resources than a foundation so it should pick up now.

i've been fixated on Destiny 2 for like a month or so now ._.
I started playing Hades, and by all things Greek Mythology based, I love it! Never had a game before where dying regularly is a necessary part of your strategy. Just wish I hadn't just watched a video where it was mentioned that, on average, people do a complete and successful run in 32 attempts. Pretty sure I've done more than that already. Am I that bad?
I net a few more rare achievements on Stellaris:This quote inspired me to fix the copy of Steam on my Linux laptop so I could open Stellaris. I had previously broken it while trying to get Kerbal Space Program to run well (for some reason Steam crashed with the version of the nvidia driver I had to install to get KSP to work). So I updated Steam and tried to switch to integrated graphics, and it worked. But then I was worried that I had broken KSP. Turns out I hadn't.

"Apparently"? Did you find it easy?
Tried Atomicrops. It's okay. It's got some heart. The core gameplay loop isn't hard, on a basic level. But it's a bit of a rough game, and doesn't explain itself very well. Decent attempt at the very least. I have access to it for free-ish, so I'm gonna give it a bit more time and attention to see if I can find my joy here or not.
I tried Hollow Knight. Didn't like it. I tried Hades. Didn't like it either. I've come to the conclusion that games like that (rogue lites?) are not for me 🙂You... okay, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with you, but what games do you like? Hollow Knight and Hades are about as different as two 2D action games can get, and I'd expect someone to find something to like in at least one of them. Hollow Knight isn't a roguelike, or lite, or whatever, it's a conventional metroidvania with a static world that keeps your progress after death, and probably the best one of its kind. Same for Hades, which wraps the modern roguelike formula into a narrative structure where it makes sense to try, die, repeat in a way that honestly, no one has ever done with this level of style and grace.
Just bought Skyward Sword HD. See how that one goes.

But if you don't like them, you don't like them... shame.

yeah okay it's captured me a bit more. still an obtuse bastard. but gonna play with it some more. beat my first year. took me a bit to figure out how that boss worked, but not too long
also met that fucking moon at one point in my year two attempts. holding off actually asking for hints on it, now. dropped a grinder/fertilizer tractor on it, which was interesting if not ultimately effective. makes me wonder how it'll respond to the megatron tractor, lol
The other players are mutant commie traitors and must be dealt with accordingly.I too have played Monopoly and have seized the assets of my competitors. :clairedoge:

We completely our first session of Paranoia over Roll20 Sunday. It ended with us launching section AAA of the Alpha Complex into space using a Project Orion style propulsion system. Prematurely. With 90+% of the intended passengers not on board.
It's already been joked in our gaming group that we're now playing Among Us TTRPG. Here's hoping their aren't any shapeshifters.
