It's the first night of your new job as the Night Security Guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, all you have to do is keep an eye on the security monitors and make sure no one breaks in. Of course, it's $120 a week and the hours are midnight to 6am and because of cutbacks, you have a limited supply of power for the night, but hey, it can't be that bad.
Oh, and the animatronic robots in the pizzeria wander the building at night and because of a quirk of programming, if they see anyone in the building from midnight on, they don't see a person, but another animatronic robot without it's suit on. They'll try to fix that....by shoving you into a Freddy Fazbear suit. Which normally would be too bad, but these suits are filled with crossbeams, gears and sharp ends, especially in the head area.....ouch....and fatal.
So basically Five Nights At Freddy's is a survival horror, point and click game with an emphasis on resource management, where you have to survive a week of the night shift from the assault of the robots at the pizzeria. The games start at midnight, where you quickly realise that you only have 99% power to last you for 6 hours. At your disposal are hall lights, security cameras and door locks, all of which drain power. If you run out of power before 6am or are unable to stop one of the four robots from getting into the security office, well you die...horribly.
Each night requires the player to come up with different strategies, with the AI reacting accordingly. For example, one of the robots will charge straight to the office if watched too often on the camera or too little, while another will sabotage cameras or lights.
It's available on Steam for €4.99 (approximately $6), a good deal....if you never want to sleep again...
