Title: Voice Impressions - creating podcasts ect.
Post by: Caleb on 21 Jul 2015, 12:12
I am doing a Jesse Ventura impression (which is basically a ripoff of the excellent James Adomian's version) for the Dreampod Podcast that I do.

Here is a short clip.

Should I keep on working on this voice or abandon it and work on other stuff?

I have a condenser mic now for a podcast.  I just haven't really done any projects except for this Dreamcast podcast.  It's great but doesn't really have any appeal outside retro enthusiasts.  I am considering starting my own that deals with gaming stuff and light topics in general.

More of the same.

That's a pretty good Jesse. My only advice would be to slightly reduce your 'sh' sound on the 's'.

As for working on it, you may already have heard this, but I'll give you the advice that has 1. made my impressions funnier and 2. I got from Billy West on a Futurama commentary so it's pretty damn worth it.

An impression doesn't have to be that accurate, as long as it's identifiable and funny. I think your Jesse does both of those jobs.

Thanks for the feedback and the advice!

I will work on this impression a bit and I will continue to think about newer projects to work on.
