I have found quite possibly the STUPIDEST band ever. The name of the band is Anti-Ben, and they seem to have a problem with people named Ben. I laughed my ass off when I listened to their cd named "Bloodthirsty Benslayers" which happens to have around 30 songs on it. Anyone else have any other really stupid bands they know of?

Nah, I've heard of Anal Cunt, and they're funny as well, but not in the same way. Anal Cunt is more of a "OMG, THAT IS SO TERRIBLE, LOL" funny whereas Anti-Ben is more of a "OMG, THIS IS FUCKING STUPID, LOL" funny. Anti-Ben mixes up their style a lot more than Anal Cunt too, ranging from grindcore to elevator music.

Yes they are, I'm glad to hear that one of their members is out of a coma. I think it's awesome how the last song on "Picnic of Love" is titled "In My Heart There's A Star Named After You" and the first song on the next album is called "I Became A Counselor So I Could Tell Rape Victims They Asked For It".

Well yeah, the point is to be horrible, but they don't even succeed from an ironic standpoint. They try to be super nasty and offensive but they come off as GG Allin lyrics set to some horrible mashup of The Prodigy and Rage Against the Machine.
And I submit that GG Allin was way, way stupider than The Ramones. And he was bad to boot! How can he lose?

Oooo, I just saw the crappiest band ever last night. Texas Terri Bomb. they were so incredibly pathetic.
1, their bassist didn't know his guitar had more than 2 strings.
2, their bassist spit water on the crowd (yay! I want your v.d.!)
3, their lead singer was so manish it took me a bit to realize she was a she. Normally I don't take offense to ugly people, but when ugly people think they are the sexiest things on earth I do.
4, They sucked, but they think they rock. The singer actuaally had the nerve to try and make people jump up and down... not just tell people to jump but she actually got off stage and went into the crowd, nobody jumped still... except for the ones that did it to make her go away.
5, their bassist didn't wear a shirt and he gyrated his hips in a most obscene way.
6, when they weren't playing really crappy music they were dry humping on stage.
7, all their songs used 3 chord progressions
8, the singer didn't know how to do anything except scream
9, oh man, I'm gonna stop now... look, do me a favor. if you ever meet any of the people from this band just give the finger or a fist full of fingers. Well, except the guitar play, he was actually pretty good.

Mayhem were pretty stupid when they started off in '86. Pure Fucking Armageddon takes the biscuit and runs away with it.

I chalk it up to my addiction with video games and the music from old 8-bit systems...
as for plain ass stupid bands. the worst I ever heard was a couple guys from my high school, Mad Dog Monte and Juice. I will not comment further, other than to say the nicknames were about as creative as they got.
for commercial bands? I have to say Metallica has really been pretty bad lately. ever since Master of Puppets they've just been going downhill. (I know, someone's going to have my head for that comment)

Anal Cunt have already been mentioned. For real entertainment from them, check out their cover of 'Staying Alive', pure genius.
There's Crotchduster, an avant-garde band who mix all forms of metal with rap, rock, Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, techno, classical, ballads, pop, country, etc, normally singing about either random insanity, perverted sex acts or the mysterious and much prized 'mammal sauce'. They're wonderful for freaking the crap out of people with, as they can go from rap to hyper-speed deathgrind in the space of a beat.
Then of course, there's Zombina and the Skeletones, who combine Death Rock, Jack off Jill-style fake child vocals and cheesy synth-pop. With choruses like "Nobody likes you when you're dead, it just ain't right, just 'cos I'm biting on your head, there's no need to be impolite, and if I still had eyes, well I would surely cry, nobody likes you when you're dead and that's the story of my life!"
Then there's the honourable mentions for parody bands, my current favourite one being the black metal parody 'Blackthrone', with songs like 'I Become a Werewolf Always' and 'Goatfog'.

I actually think bands like Lawnmower Deth, Macabre, Anti-Ben (I know a few of the guys in the band, they actually do hate Bens and are fucking hilariously insane), Blackseed Boys, etc. etc. are great bands and the comical/stupidity elements within their music make them that way.

How about Impaled Nazarene? Their newest albums don't suck, but their early creations of musical satan worshipping, angel rectum tearing and pure hardcore is pretty much sensless even to try to listen.

Today my roommate downloaded a Dream Theater album just because he had this urge to listen to someothing he knew he would hate. It was their most recent album, and it was pretty awful. A few parts approached decent rockin' out, but the vocals were just so amazingly bland, yet over the top at the same time, and the music generally went no where.

But I think maybe a lot of the wider audience of Dream Theater fans might lessen if more people listened to stuff like Ayreon, Devin Townsend, Star One, Dan Swano and Nightingale. A lot of DT fans don't really explore the prog metal genre beyond Liquid Tension Experiment.

I used to love the record they put out around 1999...the one that had the song "Bitches" featuring ODB. I don't have it anymore...but every once in a while I want to hear a song from it for nostalgia's sake. I think it was called "The Amazing Jeckyl Brothers."
That said, ICP is entertaining in its goofiness and the shock value of its misogyny. And they were more than marginally talented, though they didn't do much with the talent (see: the Bloodhound Gang).

They have about 3 or 4 CD-R albums released on DFP. They also did a 4-way split with 50 Ways To Die (another very obscure/goofy band) and a few others on Fecal Matter Discorporated. All I know is The Anti-Ben and The Rusty Trombone have told me that they are recording the new album "An Orgy Of Celestial Sounds" right now, the DVD is being recorded (some of the most weird shit I've ever witnessed), and shirts.
All macabre is excellent.. The Dahmer album cracks me up. haha. You should really check out Blackseed Boys. Metal versions of old NES songs and pop covers. Hilarious shit!

I'm sort of stuck at this point, because I'm kinda embarrassed to keep being the Devil's Advocate supporting, of all bands, ICP...but at the same time I'd be embarrassed to disown my 15-year-old self, misguided though he may have been. But ICP is not the worst band ever IF the listener thinks they're joking.

I tolerate Death Cab for Cutie but Postal Service just sounds great. Sure, they're not a Beatles and 10 years from now they'll be forgotten but Postal Service's album was one of the few recent albums I could play over and over and still enjoy it. Great stuff.

Everyone thinks MSI is trying to be offensive, but really they're just having fun, hang out with the band sometime and you'll see. I love their music, every bit of it, Jimmy's a good programmer and layers so many sounds on top of each other it keeps me interested every listen. Maybe I'm one of the few that indulge into the music and takes it seriously. I don't know.. I just have a hard time accepting that someone can dislike MSI, hah.

I was looking through my friend's soulseek files and found a band called "I Hate You When You're Pregnant".
He had four of their demos, and told me a few tracks to download off of the third one- such classic tunes as "Levitra Versus Viagra", "Hey, Hot Bitches!" and "The Most Popular Guy".
Musically, it's like really dumb-sounding synth. I don't mean that as an insult- I mean it as in it actually sounds retarded. The vocals are kinda either yelled or in mock falsetto, and you can probably guess the lyrics after seeing their name.
"Hey, Hot Bitches!" is such a stupidly hilarious song that I can't stop laughing everytime I hear it. Check soulseek for 'em.

Look, I have been in Hot Topic TWICE over a 3 year period. Hot Topic blows. Their stuff is way overpriced. I prefer to buy my stuff at the thrift store because it's cheap and you find really cool stuff there.
I DON'T try to rebel. I don't really try to do anything. I just be myself! Sooner or later you're going to realise that just because I like a certain kind of music doesn't make me any less credible as a person.
The world is going to have different kinds of music. People will like said kinds of music. You, however, seem to fail to realise this. You don't have to be a complete closed-minded asshole all the time.

Agreed with SP2. I have serious issues with the whole idea of popular metal. How can angst, anger, dispair, and rage go hand in hand with popularity, money, drugs and groupies?
You can argue back and forth about the artistic and musical merits of a band forever, but its hard to deny that slipknot are fakes, who put on a show to make money. That is why i hate them.

Although, if you're going to confine yourself to just nu-metal. Slipknot are way on the top of the heap, because:
a) They are actually arguably a metal band
b) None of their nine members is Fred Durst
c) That Jordison guy actually has some talent. He drummed live for Satyricon ffs!
So, yeah. Also, their first album was actually not that bad. Incredibly experimental compared to their later stuff. There was some sort of potential there if you examine the previous The problem is they signed to Roadrunner. You sign to Roadrunner records mid nineties, and selling out is simply compulsory. They were made to take a musical route that left most of their members superfluous (not that the extra percussionists would ever have really worked anywhere except live in a small venue anyway). and then they got so big they didn't dare change, because people like money. Joey and Corey, the only members with any arguable talent, explored a variety of side projects, which is cool (tbh, I love the Murderdolls. Anyone who has an issue with this can go get a sense of humour).
As for the whole nine members crap, well, they're basically just a high-school band who had the mis/fortune to become incredibly huge. Are you gonna be a cunt and chuck your best friends from high-school out of your band just because they contribute nothing musically? Ah, come on. To complain about Slipknots number of members posits that they are a totally serious band. Which ain't the case, people.
Also, that Wait and Bleed song is kinda catchy.
Although, if we're dissing Slipknot, which I think we are, someone should send Corey Taylor a letter informing that Slipknot /= Stonesour, even if faux-emo is big bucks now days.

You like the music you claim because it's what you've heard. There are plenty of awesome metal bands out there. Plenty of awesome punk bands. Plenty of awesome...well, you get the picture. Basically, it's like this: why would you eat Hershey's when there's Godiva chocolate out there for less? Most of the really good bands out there put out cheaper CDs than the major label MTV-featured artists, and their concerts are significantly cheaper. Plus, they're just simply better musically. There is no reason to listen to Green Day when there's Jawbreaker out there. No reason to listen to Nine Inch Nails when there's Skinny Puppy. No reason to listen to Slipknot when there's actually decent metal out there. No reason to listen to ICP when razor blades cost only $1.99 at your local convenience store.
Most bands on MTV are watered down and accessible, but not particularly good. That's not to say all bands that get national recognition or are on major labels are filth. But most bands that get such widespread press are generally the equivalent to drinking Budweiser and calling yourself a beer connisseur.
We're simply saying that there's better shit out there. MUCH better shit out there. You're acting like a music snob, but the bands you like are the kind of music that people generally listen to when they don't have the interest to actually invest their time into finding something that's actually GOOD. Being proud of liking the shit you're fed on ClearChannel either signifies that you have a very immature musical taste due to very little exposure to anything that's not on the radio, or it means you're a Hot Topic trendwhore. I should have probably assumed the first and given you the benefit of the doubt, but I can't pass up the opportunity to diss on Hot Topic.

sp2, you don't get it, do you? I listen to the music I like because it makes me happy. There's plenty reason to listen to it, because it brings me joy. It makes me feel like I'm not just a stupid bitch out to hurt everyone and everything I can lay my hands on (even though that is true).
Bands like My Chemical Romance and the Used make me feel like I'm not in this all alone.
Bands like Green Day and SlipKnot make me want to "run around giggling and high fiving everything".
Bands like...erm, well you get the gist of it.
I invest my time in looking for bands that MTV hasn't/hadn't gotten their grimy claws on. Dope Stars Inc., tFDQFP13, Skinny Puppy, !!!, West Indie Girl...the list goes on and on.
So screw you man, and stop being a dick about what kind of music I like.

I don't think either, and won't say either. But I will say that you must be fairly new to music, and really it's probably not fair to say other bands suck, because how much are you acquainted with them? Can you really say Slipknot is the best metal ever? How many metal bands do you know? How long have you been into metal?
I'm not ragging on you, when I was just getting into music, I claimed a lot of things were the best evar, and now I look back on that and think, "What a goon." So maybe you should give some more time, or maybe be less vehement in your stance of things.

I'd recommend SikTh to a Blood Brothers fan. SikTh aren't really metal, but utterly bizarre experimental post-hardcore with goth rock and heavy metal influences. When I say utterly bizarre, by the way, I mean utterly bizarre. Whilst the Blood Brothers two vocalists normally sing or screech in various harmonised falsettos, SikTh's vocalists sing, bark, growl, chant and sometimes even rap at every pitch imaginable, often using accents or silly voices. Not to mention that they covered Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, have spoken word tracks and use a mobile phone as an instrument at one point.
Type O Negative may also be appreciated. It's like funky goth rock with an edge of heavy metal and a huge dose of withering sarcasm and dark humour. At a lot of points a self-parody of both itself and the entire goth scene, but always good stuff. If I was to recommend any songs to try and get into, it would be the incomparable 'revenge on an ex' song 'Black #1' (Loving you was like loving the dead!) and, of course, 'My Girlfriend's Girlfriend', which contains what is almost certainly the most awesome keyboard line ever.

Let me clarify...I haven't heard most indie bands. And, yes I do claim not to be ignorant. Because I listen to the most generic examples of it to get the gist of it. It's like, I listen to Sunny Day Real-Estate and go, "Well this is one of the most popular emo bands today, and it sucks..." I realise this is not a good way to go about things but I have about 50 subfolders in my music folder right now...I'm pretty much content to do that.
And yeah, I am quick to jump the gun a lot of times but I have to put up with assholes all the time because everyone hates me (not exaggerating, everyone at my school glares at me when I walk by except my 3 friends). Much to my everlasting shame, i listened to slipknot when i was 13 years old.
I am no longer a child, i'm 20 years old, and living in a considerably more sophisticated world, where listening to commercial bands ISNT rebelling against society, and being different isnt an end in itself.
This is the way. As you become an adult, you see more subtle naunces in things, and stop taking everything at face value.

Also, to get back on topic (sort of): Cut her some slack. For two reasons: First of all, I bet your musicial taste was amusing to 20 year olds back when your were 14 as well, right? That didn't make it any less important for you though. Whatever I listened to, it meant something to me. If it does, screw whatever everyone else says.
That said, I think Nightwish is stupid and very annoying (and yes, I have listened to their earlier albums). I just don't like the voice and I don't like melodic metal (or whatever the hell it's called) and I also don't like lots of pathos. A combination of all three gives me diarrhea.
Now flame me for that.
Edit: Having seen a post in another thread, I have to add: Of course, there are tons of bands more annoying than Nightwish. For example HIM. But my point remains.

I don't think you can put Nightwish even in the same ballpark as HIM. I mean, Tarja can sing, Toumas can play some mean axe and write good songs without using the word 'razorblade' in the lyrics ever. That's already three geometric leaps ahead of HIM.

Nik & Jay, a pop fenomenon in Denmark, basically they are Chingy clones, taking themselves incredibly seriously and having disillusions of actually being rappers. Song titles include "Can You Hear Her Sing"(their fat girl anthem), "Hot", "Tasty" and last but not least "Pop Pop"

Look, I have been in Hot Topic TWICE over a 3 year period. Hot Topic blows. Their stuff is way overpriced. I prefer to buy my stuff at the thrift store because it's cheap and you find really cool stuff there.

There's a white climber rapper who goes by the moniker "O-Dub" (which is slang, I guess of O/W or "off-width" which is a climber term for large-crack you can't handjam in). He mainly climber-izes top-40 rap songs, such as "I've got 99 problems (But this pitch ain't one)." He is a dedicated traddie and most of original lyrics are pathetic attacks on sport climbing and bouldering.
I know there are some climbers here, so I figured some of you might appreciate.
