When did he get so hot? Seriously, he was such a dork when he first showed up. Now he's stupidly hot. I like the change, and he may take over as my QC crush, a spot previously held by Dale.
-
I blame The Emily Incident.
-
I have my own theory about that. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AdrenalineMakeover)
-
Meanwhile Claire (while always cute) has had her own change in style, ditching the glasses and getting her septum pierced. Are they twins?
-
They are not twins, she is a few years older than he is.
-
He is Version 2. Just terrible with sharp objects. But he has leveled up seriously.
Claire is cute? meh.

Gah! TVtropes-link - another hour of my day gone! :x
Don't be EVIL!

terrible with sharp objects
Not so good with explosives, either.

That's evil, yes, but it's not too evil (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ButNotTooEvil).
-
Pilchard, you will come to a bad end at some stage
-
But not too bad.

In the ordinary course of events, pest control ought not involve high explosives....

Claire went through the same process. At least part of it is that Jeph has made a conscious decision to make the character look mainstream plausible as a romantic protagonist. However, in-universe, I suspect that it is the character's mindset. The realisation that they can look attractive and that people can find them desirable leads them to be more at ease with themselves and more careful with their appearance.

The Insanely Aggressive Bugs From Hell in my neighborhood may lie outside "the ordinary course of events". Folk remedies, dry ice, and professionally applied poison have been only partially effective.
-
And if that don't work

Explosives, no. Napalm, possibly.
-
Oblig Ripley. She knew how to deal with bugs:

If they had listened to Ripley in the first film and followed quarantine protocol, it never would have gotten on the ship in the first place.

High energy plasma - I suggest a "quark-gluon plasma" just to be sure.

High energy plasma - I suggest a "quark-gluon plasma" just to be sure.
How is that type of plasma different from other types?
-
It is even higher energy than normal plasma, which is made up of ionised nucleii and free-flying electrons.

Aha, thank you.
-
Just to put the closing quote on the question
Quark–gluon plasm
a hypothetical, highly energized form of matter that contains unbound quarks and gluons - the building blocks of neutrons protons and electrons.
So yeah, even the atoms are burning.
-
I thought it had actually been produced. CERN 2015, maybe others?
If you convert the numbers to a temperature scale, a quark-gluon plasma runs 4 or 5 trillion degrees Kelvin, three orders of magnitude hotter than a supernova.
-
That strikes me as a really excellent reason not to convert the numbers to a temperature scale.
