Dusting the cobwebs off this thread because, well, its relevant again.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters has been released and has currently made around $300 million at the box office. There are some concerns however that given the film's budget ($170m) and marketing costs, KotM might barely break even.
That said, Michael Dougherty has confirmed that a fan favourite kaiju was in the film. Just not how you expected them.
During the scene in Godzilla's underwater lair, there is a skeleton of a Titan. Michael Dougherty has suggested that its the remains of the Monsterverse's version of Anguirus. So bang goes the theory that Methuselah was going to be Anguirus.
I am watching "WatchMojo" covering easter eggs from the movie we may not have noticed and one of them made me so happy.
In the credits whwere they are showing newspapers hyping up Kong v Godzilla, one of the newspapers shows another Mothra egg has been found. This made me so happy. :-D Granted its par for the course in that Mothra dies a lot in the old movies, it was quite cool to know she'll be back.
Yeah, there are several little easter eggs and links that a lot of people miss.
- Like Mothra's legs being quite similar to the MUTOs from the first Legendary film, indicating that her species might be related to theirs.
- The female MUTO's severed head was being kept in the Antarctica facility, because its the only place cold enough and large enough for MONARCH to study it.
- Michael Dougherty has confirmed that Ghidorah's left head was nicknamed "Kevin". And it was also the most easily distracted. And its the surviving part of Ghidorah. So yeah, if they decide to bring in Mecha-Ghidorah, Kevin could be the one in charge...
- The Oxygen Destroyer has completed ruined Isla Del Mara's fishing based economy, hence why the fishermen were forced to sell Kevin to Jonah.
- Behemoth was only added because Michael Dougherty wanted a mammalian titan counterpart to Kong after realising that every titan that had been designed was reptilian or insectoid.
Also, there is only one scene I want to see in Godzilla vs King Kong next year.
