Okay, so let's talk about locations. Locations are more than just backgrounds to the story. They can often drive the story (as we see in the prolonged Faye-Bubbles introduction arc). They can be way of creating connections between characters who normally wouldn't interact. Or they can add new wrinkles to characters and their lives. So, what new locations would you like to see?
For me:
- A music performance venue - Because Marten decides he wants to play again and Claire encourages him to make it a second job;
- Elliot's gym - Not only for Elliot/Bubbles interaction because I can see him inviting Clinton, Roko and Beepatrice over;
- A local animal shelter/doggy daycare - Emily's second job and because you can never get enough Good Boys and Good Girls.
What are your thoughts?
-
Ha! I guess we both thought to make a WCDT at about the same time.
I'll cede mine since you got yours posted first

I voted for the synthetic hangouts. More Gordon, please!
How many characters would actually have a GP they go to? Beyond Jim's household, Hannelore, and Penelope (who hasn't appeared since before Brun's debut)...the Augustus clan? It's not the sort of thing that's popular among youth anywhere. Dora might, too.

There’s no “modern covered mall” in Northampton. For that, you can go to Hampshire Mall in Hadley or Holyoke Mall in Holyoke.
As for comic/hobby shops, there’s Newberry Comics on Pleasant Street, but it’s not really conducive to hanging out. Modern Myths, on Bridge Street, was a great place to hang out and talk comics or role-playing games, but alas, it closed last year. Comics ‘n More in Easthampton could possibly fill that role, but this would require getting people in Northampton to admit that Easthampton exists.

It would be interesting if Robots got to like coffee and tea scents like Bubbles and started hanging at Coffee of Doom.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing the new robot fighting arena.

Comic's up. Evidently Beeps knows a little about architecture. Not "enough*, but a little.
-
Flying buttress...

Yeah, I'm not sure that actually helps....

Probably not.
Though, here's a thought; would a buttress be required for a structure built inside a subspace bubble?
-
Jeph's Butts Disease is flaring up again...
-
That's Beepatrice alright: Always trying to help. Not always trying to help in the right contextual way or in any effectual way either but at least she's trying to help!

Behind the cybrid-rights advocacy, an exclusive cybrid club wherein Agatha custodes double-secret the exclusive nonanthromorph club and malagents ('til safe release). Exclusivity exceipt: demideity's soloism.
Not in any effectual way either but at least she's trying to help!
I'll've noninterference than harmful aidliness (https://anonfile.com/Ban1Y8i1o8/nascent_empiricism_gif) (cf. pen (https://www.questionablecontent.net/comics/4206.png) and paper (https://www.questionablecontent.net/comics/4201.png));

Yeah, I'm not sure that actually helps....
It doesn't. A flying buttress helps to stabilize a broad-based arch. (The force of gravity at the top of the arch winds up pushing the legs apart; the buttress resists that push.) Since Clinton and Elliot a) aren't forming an arch and b) don't have much horizontal displacement, there's no need for a buttress, flying or otherwise.
-
You know what would work best, Elliot? How about putting Clinton on your shoulders? Or is it Festivus time in the QC-verse?
-
Flying buttress...
Precisely; I'm convinced that the entire scene is solely to lead into that one single butt joke.
-
Me, I think that Beeps just wants to get her hands on Elliot.
-
Well her gaze seemed to be locked onto a specific pair of glutes before volunteering her services.
-
Had Clinton considered using an, and were there a sufficient, inanimate external height enhancement, Clinton'd've used it; couch is insufficient, boxes may be nonsturdy, some may be have fragiles, all have nonhis property. Elliot is sufficiently tall that he can alone (on couch) reach the lamp-fixture screws; why not? Elliot has many manual person-reposition experiences; being tall, may be has only few external height-enhancement experiences. Clinton, being profusely academical, maybe has only few household-maintenance experiences, so maybe not doubted the present method. (And, slight insobrity.)
2020-03-24: today's page, frame 4, patently shows Elliot unable to alone screw those.
-
Beeps just kinda disappeared there. :-P
-
Those two are weirdly fun together, aren't they? A pair of weird guys being weird together and, in the process, becoming a classic comedy duo! FWIW, I do suspect that panel 2 and 3 was their reaction to liking being in close contact with each other. Something neither of them are quite ready to try to interpret just yet.
Beeps just kinda disappeared there. :-P
Yeah, I'm kind of hoping that she realised the position she'd put herself in for such a weird reason. However, it's more than likely that she's left to do something else as Elliot 'has got this, thanks'.
-
Beeps just kinda disappeared there. :-P
Even Beeps isn’t oblivious enough to ignore when two people are off in their own private universe…

I'm pretty sure that Elliot is aware of his attraction to Clinton.
Clinton, OtOH, seems unaware of Elliot's attraction to him, and if he has any attraction to Elliot he is unaware of that as well.
-
Any minute now, someone will say "Just kiss him".
And it won't be me.
-
New comics up.
Butt pillow.
-
I really have a feeling that Millie is going to wake up and say: "Oh no! Not again!"
My big hope is that Brun doesn't say something similar!
-
You can't fool us. We all know that you are now hoping for exactly that.
-
That was cute. :-D

Silly Elliot! Everyone knows that Joseph Swan invented the lightbulb and then Thomas Edison made a slightly better one, then set up a company with Swan and bankrupted him like a total asshole. :psyduck:

His namesake company still are - ass-holes that is.
They donate a chunk of cash regularly to the Smithsonian [huge tax write-off for what is effectively advertising] so they get to dictate how and what stuff is presented.
Last time I was there, there was no mention of Swan or anybody else involved with the incandescent light-bulb and ignored any technology research not US centric - there was no mention of LED or EL lighting systems at all, just some impractical basic research projects from the Edison sponsored labs.
Tesla is in some dark back corner because AC power can't be fully ignored but they try.
With all the tearing down of statues and memorials of famous people who did some really infamous things, it makes me wonder just how much longer we have to wait until Edison is finally kicked down off his self erected pedestal and the real inventors are given their due recognition?

Comic's up!
Oh yeah, that would be terrible. Darn these supply shortages...
(Actually, this pandemic probably isn't a thing in QC, because the AI(s) would have seen this thing coming and responded competently.)
-
QC is just straight out feeding the shippers at this point. That is the only story development we can now look forward to, I guess.
-
Is Elliot taking a photo of Brun asleep?
So, still can't make up his mind, huh? :-D

"I WANT BOTH!"
"WHAT."
-
Renee is mean, Clinton is oblivious.
Clueless Clinton confirmed.
-
If I had to judge panel 2, I think that Clinton is genuinely concerned about Brun (he usually is). Remember that he doesn't know Renee as well as Elliott, so he might not be so at ease with her glib response. That said, Brun in panel 1 does look a little cat-like in her sleeping posture, doesn't she?
To me, panel 3 is just Jeph reminding us that Renee can be pretty mean sometimes. She knows Elliot is crushing on Clinton and has no problem teasing him by putting weird imagery in his head. Interesting that Clinton isn't reacting at all. Obviously the thought of bathing with Elliot doesn't really affect him!
Is Elliot taking a photo of Brun asleep?
No, I think he's looking at the clock and realising that there is just hypothetically enough time for him to get home, shower, change his clothes and get to The Secret Bakery to start the bread for the morning opening.
Ah, the joys of having two jobs and an active social life!

Sleepy-cat Brün is now my newest wallpaper.

Witness: of my favourite acts of tongue: deceipt, speaking only truth.

Ok, was hoping for a romantic confession, but that was funny too.
-
Heyb the DL-AI is getting better
-
Okay, I think that Jeph has done a good job in jossing Clinton-Elliot, although it's clear that Clinton considers the big guy to be possibly the sweetest person that he knows, he obviously doesn't really think of him that way. Indeed, I'm starting to wonder if Clinton is going to decide that it's his job to get his pure-souled big buddy a soul-mate. We all know how that could end up (see also: Errors, comedy of).

Here's the thing: I think that Elliot was intending on telling Clinton that he is attracted to him. However, being Elliot, he choked on it and instead babbled something about the history of technology instead. Anyone who reads a story with a cliche romantic component should be familiar with the symptoms of this sort of scene!
-
Elliot is an extra-large cinnamon roll.
-
Oh, Elliott... you marshmallow, you :-)

Question: Is Clinton the type to meddle?
Better Question: Who does Clinton know that would meddle, and probably needs something to do with her time right now?
-
People, people.
I don't ship. Ever. Never have.
But I am on the edge of my seat.
-
They haven't had The Cuddle yet, which has usually come before a relationship in the QC world.
-
Question: Is Clinton the type to meddle?
Better Question: Who does Clinton know that would meddle, and probably needs something to do with her time right now?
Yes, THIS EXACTLY. Clinton has probably been on the receiving end of Claire's meddling enough to understand that his own meddling might not be appreciated, so will be inclined to leave off.

Or decide that he's seen Claire crash and burn so many times that he'd surely get it right! I mean, surely doing the exact thing as his sister whilst keeping her failures in mind would mean he is less likely to fail? Right?
A lot depends on where they're going now. If they go their separate ways then this plot arc is over. If they go back to Elliot's apartment (and, consequently, Roko), then we'll be reminded why this is currently threatening to become a love quadrangle.

The TVTropes term for how this could end up is Love Dodecahedron. There are several additional characters who could end up being part of this, although in no sense are there any guarantees. For instance, if we add Roko, do we then possibly add Winslow and/or Beeps?
