Title: Puppy born in Oklahoma with six legs
Post by: sara163838 on 01 Mar 2021, 03:21
Puppy born in Oklahoma believed to be the first to survive with six legs
Global Moderator Comment It's an interesting story but the person spammed it across a wide variety of forums presumably to drive traffic to the link. So I removed the link and substituted a mainstream site with the story.

Unlikely though this seems, it is in fact reporting an event listed by many reputable sources, such as this report from CNN (https://edition.cnn.com/2021/02/23/us/puppy-born-with-six-legs-trnd/index.html).

I’m just surprised that they respond to stimului and move.  I do hope that the little doggerpillar is able to live a good life.

I sincerely hope she'll be able to walk without throwing her spine out of whack - can't see if all the legs are the same length and in the right position.

Either way: go Skipper!

Extra legs are usually useless because even if your genes and gestation flipflop and decide to come up with extra legs, they don't usually flopflip and give you an extra pelvis to go with them.

If puppy is able to move them, that's nice, but they really require sturdy attachment points to be useful.
