Comments on Melon's hair bring up are inevitable, so I'm back on this nonsense.
(I think her hair looks good up or down.)
EDIT: typo correction fix
[Mad at myself because I was at Micro Center and coild have gotten a good stylus]
-
I understand your disappointment, Melon; I feel your pain.
-
I mean, if you were all that keen to play an office worker themed RPG, you could.... just start one? You don't need Roko to run it for you. Though you could also at least try asking her, too.
-
Now I'm hoping that Roko will start a 'Business & Bandwidth' game (my apologies for the lame name, best I could come up with at short notice). Also, I'm reminded of this very old comic (https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=176) - anyone else remember Pintsize playing 'Trolls & Flame-Wars'?
-
So digging this.
"Papers and Paychecks" was a classic D&D joke back in the 80s (the original joke of course had dungeon monsters playing it!); it's so lovely to see Jeph bringing a version of the joke to life--even if only briefly--here!
-
That hole in the ceiling has been there for quite a while now, hasn't it? Did Melon make it, or was it already there? Either way, the landlord's gonna be pissed...
Poll: I had to say "someone else" but only because I really can't see May as Sherlock.
-
Yep, Melon caused the hole in the ceiling (https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3903)
-
Ah, so that was the pay-off. Melon not getting it is almost obligatory but Elliot and Clinton too? I suspect that Roko may have inadvertently stumbled across a 'target market' segment that she never knew existed!
-
So why is this hole still not fixed ?!?!? :?
-
So why is this hole still not fixed ?!?!? :?
Because it’s rented accommodation in America. If you report it to the landlord the bill gets added to your rent. Every month. Forever. And if you fix it yourself the landlord kicks you out then sues you.

I guess that also explains why the elevator in The Big Bang Theory never got fixed.

For comic #4721... (https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4721)
1. I do hope that Clinton, Elliot, and Melon do get together to form a Play-group, this kind of scenario is one of the better ways how good Play-groups form.
2. While it is not strictly an "office workers RPG", there is something that is relevant for such a Campaign Setting...
- a.) d20 Modern (2002-2008) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D20_Modern
- b.) Short (Game) Summary - Published by the Wizards of the Coast (the current owners of the D&D franchise), d20 Modern is set within the modern "real" (note "quotations") world of Earth. The d20 Modern Earth may incorporate fictional elements such as Fantasy, Paranormal, Sci-Fi, &/or Supernatural. Core Classes are based upon the basic D&D stats (Strength Hero, Dexterity Hero, Intelligence Hero, Charisma Hero, etc.), with more thematic/specific Advanced Classes at higher levels. Unless specifically built away from it, most Player Characters do work regular/mundane jobs for income.
- c.) Game Technicals - d20 Modern's game-system is most accurately described as "3.25", published between D&D 3rd Edition and D&D 3.5 edition, with semi-evolved game-mechanics between the two D&D editions.

It's from an idea I can't quite get out of my head from when we saw May in that black sleeveless blouse and brown plaid skirt. The skirt's design was reminiscent of the plaid Holmes is often associated with.
EDIT: While Momo or Hanners (forgot to add her to the poll) would make an ideal Holmes stand-in in this case, I also raise you the pun of Momoarty.

Wait. Seriously?
Oof! Glad I rented in the Midwest mostly under fairly honest landlords. Though, that does explain some of the price hikes up in the KC area and some of the ones we had at the house with individually rented rooms and shared commons areas.

Business Cleric? Is that like Office Linebacker? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg5cdZ-Fnpc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg5cdZ-Fnpc)

The joy of Freedom™ - where people are free to screw you over, or not, as is their whim, with no warning or recourse.

Not to mention Reagan era and Clinton era deregulation.

Yay has their character, Roko has fleshed out an NPC, Clinton has his character, and Melon will be the Office Ditz. Wonder what Elliot will come up with?
( the hole was fixed but to melon its still there )

Elliot would be the Asok the Intern - The super-smart guy with a very weak personality whose warnings of doom are ignored despite his intelligence and high hit ration "because he's not got enough experience".
-
Just throwing this out there: there is now a mobile game named The Office: Somehow We Manage that essentially is an RPG of The Office.
-
I'd do business RPG.... :-P
-
I'm really ambivalent about this.
-
This is oddly wholesome
-
while not an rpg in itself the creators of the fantasy comedy podcast hello from the magic tavern have a spinoff called offices and boees which follows rthe cast playing a ficticious office based rpg - whilst playing fantasy characters playin the characters!
...just trust me it works

Minus the headless corpse of course.

Today's comic made me absurdly happy :D
Saaaaaaame! I'm always here for the friendships, and this one DELIVERED. Also, I'm basically that imagine spot where the top half of Penny's head came off and rainbows and whatnot came spewing out with my love of Elliot's "very fulfilling" choice to play the copier.

That's just the odd part of the wholesomeness!

Results may vary.

And here I was hoping that Yay be the GM, Melon is the wacky Bard, Elliot is a Barbarian, Roko is a Paladin, and Clinton is a Wizard who specializes in Bigby's Hand.
-
Yay once again proves why she's the best character.
-
It's happening! It's happening! (Does the Happiness Happening dance.)
( dibs on the water cooler )
-
I do love Yay. *lol*
-
Hopefully not the same place that Pintsize got that beard.
-
I retract my statement that this seems awkward about the previous comic. This is awesome.
-

Irrespective of gender identity/presentation, they *are* a plural.
-
Aww, that was cute. We haven't seen them in awhile too.
-
Heh, the crypto hate I find amusing. People hate what they don't understand. As has always been true of humans.
I hate it with a passion, because I do understand it.
-
I never heard of the 'motte and bailey' before. Learning has occurred!
Re. today's comic: cute! It's been ages since we've seen Veronica.
-
It is! You can call her anything you like, but her name is Veronica...
-
I suspect that it says a lot about Sam's off-screen past that Jim has had to put rules in place about notifying him of fatalities (probably more normally major injuries) as a result of Sam's adventures. I wonder how much of it is natural parental paranoia and how much of it is genuine awareness of just what Sam is like and her very low risk awareness!
Meanwhile, I wonder if we're ever going to meet Emmett's parents? I'm already visualising someone like Joyce Brown's parents in Joyce and Walky and its associated strips, less aggressive than their equivalents in Dumbing of Age but still a dramatic contrast from Jim and Veronica.

I think at least some of that may have to do with the fact tham Sam was hanging out with Emmett.
-
Could the various [ x ]coins would use that heat output to cook food or heat water to power a steam system? If so, that could mitigate some of the waste.

It would be interesting to meet them.
And, oof, imagine being left out of the loop in regards to a major accident and being asked to offer duggestions/dpeak on it some sort of parent meeting.
-

This confused the heck out of me ('I spelled her name right, didn't I?') until I decided to Google your second sentence ;D

All they needed was a page on their website: Lifetime premium tickets: X sets of 2, bid here, pay with these payment options if you win. (Edit:) Rights transferable for any arrangement you wish to make with the other party.
Done and done, no need to involve NFTs or blockchain or Ticketmaster.

Chaos doesn't add or multiply; it's exponential.
Jim knows another force for chaos when he sees one. His concern is perhaps slightly overstated, but well-founded...

New comic!
Cue Willow in 3, 2, 1...
-
It is! You can call her anything you like, but her name is Veronica...
Just so long as we don't call her Betty? I'd imagine that would've gotten old fast.
-
In Marigold's defence, she's probably feeling a bit weird because of her creamer type switch. I get why she's a little grumpy and snappy as her biochemical balance is probably a bit different today.
-
Goblin mode yoga!
(edits)
I thought I was being silly, but a search for Goblin Yoga returns hits.
??!??
-
Grumpy might be a default. I can certainly identify with being grumpy on going to do something one doesn't enjoy - even though it has benefits.
I'm enjoying the recent run of showing friendship moments between different characters.
-
I understand why Marigold is being grumpy, but "I don't personally experience it" is not the same as "it isn't real".
Although to be fair, this attitude is pretty much in character for what I know of her.
-
Ah, the fabled "runner's high." Somebody once tried to convince me I would totally experience it if I kept at it long enough, but all I ever experienced was the "runner's painful breathing" and "runner's stabbing pain in one side." :-D
-
*also has never had a 'Runners High' *
So, yeah...
-
I haven't gotten a 'runner's high' (yet), and I dislike running in general, but I do love the way I feel afterwards. Which is the only reason why I keep going with it. Not terribly far and not terribly fast, but at least it's something.
-
*looks at the poll*
Is there a Martin in this Webcomic ? I dont remember one ?
AFAIK there is definitely a runner high. Its why people can get addicted to running.
And salad is also definitely delicious.
-
New comic up.
Oh dear....
-
It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
-
I think we just discovered what Hanners is into.
-
Iris is blunt, up front, and doesn't toy around. She and May need to meet/interact.
-

I reccomend hiding anything flammable during that interaction
-
*also has never had a 'Runners High' *
So, yeah...
I only get it when swimming.
-
Now we know what May would have grown up to be like if she hadn't met Dale.
-
Well, I would leave.
-
Ooh looks like Jeph has a new orcish personality project to tame and temper.
-
Ooh looks like Jeph has a new orcish personality project to tame and temper.
I'm just glad it's not another character who is Extremely Quirky and says and does Very Strange Things, but who is either super smart or occasionally says remarkably profound things.
The only character of this type in the comic that I liked was (strangely enough) Melon, and there have been a few.
-
Goblin mode yoga for real!
-
It has been explicitly stated that robot yoga is fatal for humans.
-
Was that a bottom caption?
-
I may be in the minority, but I have to say I'm weary of all the AI characters in the comic.
In the old days, there were precious few AIs, and they were not full on androids. That allowed the comic to feel realistic, allowed me to invest in the setting because it felt like it COULD be reality. With all the androids and AIs wandering around, it's really diminishing that capacity. I miss the old days.
I know, I've no doubt there are many that will disagree, but I felt the need to offer my opinion.
-
Jeph faces an interesting challenge here. How to keep his AI characters human enough to be relatable to his audience while reminding us from time to time that they are -not- human.
-
I think we just discovered what Hanners is into.
Given Hanners relationship with her mom and all her other hangups about "dirt", she being a robosexual wouldn't surprise me at all, especially an AI that is direct and non-deferential like Iris. We'll have to see where this goes. Maybe Station will take a break from being an orbital outpost now that there is someone to keep tabs on Hanners Dad? Hmmmm.
-
Not sure I've been that profoundly misinterpreted in a very long time.

The current "history" of AI is inconsistent with the origins of the strip, and there are too many characters.
But Bubbles is so hot.
-
Bubbles is honest, loyal, dependable, and has shown leadership qualities. I am glad she is in the strip.
-
This confused the heck out of me ('I spelled her name right, didn't I?') until I decided to Google your second sentence ;D
Sorry, but the name Veronica always triggers Elvis Costello moments in me...

'a few automobiles seemed realistic, but *hundreds* of them?'
Feel what you feel, but I don't really understand how the -number- of a technology significantly changes the amount of realism.
-
Even in the old days there were so many that they could keep the LAN Park in business.
-
Not sure I've been that profoundly misinterpreted in a very long time.
Nah, it's just where my mind went when I was reading the comic and then you gave me an excuse to verbalize it.
