If the numbering of the strips is correct we are somewhere at 4820 something. Which has lead me to thinking that perhaps 5000 may be a good place to end the strip which it could be possible. A lot of threads have been summed up and a clear path to something hasn't really been plotted out it seems. So do you think this is a possible, love to hear your thoughts here. Please and thanks, be well all and stay safe.

i think i did the adding correctly, and if so, 6969 (which i am not saying would be the last one per se, but it could be close by) would correspond to about five more years of stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :D :) :)

I'm pretty sure that as long as QC is Jeph's primary source of income, he'll look to keep telling new stories in it.

Only time will tell for certain.
Jeph could do a Shaenon K Garrity (Narbonic, Monster of the Week, Skin Horse, etc) and use QC as a launching off point for one or more other comics. Lest I'm mistaken Mx. M. Lee Lundsford (Supernormal Step, Speak of the Devil, Nix of Nothing, etc) has done something similar telling wholly contained stories of varying lengths in different comics.

I'm gonna say no.
-
Why should it end just because of a round number?
As for another strip, he did that with Alice Grove, and didn't feel the need to keep that going, let alone start another.

No.

Why should it end just because of a round number?
Something something Mayan calendar apocalypse?
Yeah I got nothing.
-
It's unlikely. I mean, it's not as if Jeph is writing a clear story with a foreseeable ending any more.

And even even that was just a Mayan Y2K bug, and a rollover into a new era. In any event, the stars are not right yet, and Great Cthulhu isn’t even stirring in his slumber.

Jeph on the end of QC (https://twitter.com/jephjacques/status/1555508880326758400) (Posted 8/5/2022)
So, we're about to have something big in the strip but Jeph is reassuring us that it isn't the end of the strip, even if it ends the comic. What could that be? Here are a few ideas I have:
- The Taidora Wedding is finally here; hilarity ensues and it ends up being a Triple Wedding with Faye/Bubbles and Marten/Claire
- Claire gets a job on the West Coast; she and Marten leave (thus creating a circle with the start of Marten's arc - he came to be with a girl and left with a new girl)
-
Well now we know which one it looks like it will be.
-
The new strip is called Cubes and will be done in the style of Leigh Rubins.
[The proceeding comment is purely a joke]

"It's going to get kind of wild (by QC standards anyway)" just makes me think a lot's going to go down at the wedding at the same time. A lot of balls thrown up in the air get caught at the same time. Triple wedding is where my hat gets tossed, here.

The most accurate answer. Of course Jeph may lose interest in the comic and/or have fewer ideas (eiter which may have already happened), but he'd likely first need to develop an alternative source of (steady) income before he can sunset QC. Maybe he has already been working on another project though(?)

Well, if JJ does wrap things up, it's been a heck of a ride and I'm glad we were all along for it together.
