I used to just have a smaller pic in the middle with black everywhere else, but switched to this wide one because my new monitor has a wonky pixel which shows up on black, just to the left of centre.
That's me on the wall @ right. My climbing mate took this, testing out the 'stitching' capabilities of his new camera, but got it kind of blurry. I still like it because it shows a good cross-section of "life in the bouldering-cave."

My laptop's screen is 1280x800 widescreen (kinda wish it was higher, but it works.) The Start menu/bar thingy is actually auto-hide, so the desktop is just those three icons.
The background changes about once a week. About half the time it's a minimalistic desktop like this, a quarter of the time it's something I've photoshopped, and a quarter of the time it's some random painting.

Oh, and Discworld rocks. I definitely prefer the covers and art by Paul Kidby (http://www.paulkidby.com/) to the ones by Josh Kirby (http://www.ie.lspace.org/art/joshkirby.html), though. They just hit the feel and image of the characters and setting so much more accurately, I think.

dude, i dont know what school you went to but the one we went on to were permenantly under obsevation by IT, we could only access educational websites and there was nothing to do on them :S
in the university of dundee you can only access one website and theres no start button :O

All except the taskbar at the bottom are usually hidden, i just unhid them for maximum desktopage.

Y'z Dock is an alternative for slightly less memory use. The trade off is slightly less function and no further upgrades since the makers got sued. Google to find it

I think your problems stem from the fact that it's a .bmp file, which is perhaps what caused it to take forever to upload (because bitmaps are fucking huge) and possibly what caused photobucket to resize it.
Convert it to a .jpg or something.

.bmp files don't work in IMG tags, dude - the only valid file types (that I know of) are .jpg .gif and .png

Don't feel bad. I had a picture of my lady on my desktop for about 2 months, but I recently changed it to a picture that I took of the Caribbean Sea from the airplane out of Grenada. I'll upload it when I get home.
