What about My Youngest Son Came Home Today?
True, that's a fine song (after all: I'm Australian - I have to like Eric Bogle, it's in the Constitution) and I was actually thinking about it when I made that post. However "Everywhere" is, I think, the better of the two songs: it's a bit wider in scope.
If you don't have a copy of the song, I'd be happy to send you one!

-
Alkaline Trio - Fuck You Aurora
You could not resist! You're right though, it is a far darker album on the whole...
-
Haha, no, I couldn't! Its an amazing album. Has a lot of great, dark, cynical imagery. This is the heaviest, followed by, I'd say, the S/T. The poppiest they ever went was From Here To Infirmary, that was still a kick ass album, but I fully blame Vagrant for their decline. We'll see how Crimson turns out!
EDIT: Jaked On Green Beers-Alkaline Trio
-
I found From Here to Infirmary more humorous than anything I think, so I was still happy, but that's my sense of humor for you.
I wasn't aware there was something in the works! Now I'm excited to see how it'll turn out. See how out of the loop I've been?
-
Haha, oh you poor soul! I've been waiting for this album for about 6 months! It comes out in less than 2 weeks. It was originally called Church & Distroy, continuing Alk3's streak of bad puns as album names. They however just changed it. I once again blame Vagrant (I dont know why this time). Im seeing them in June again. CANT FUCKING WAIT.
But I also really agree with you on the humour in FHTI, it still definately had Alkaline Trio's renowned darkness, but it was combines to create a sort of comedy noir.
-
Oh you lucky soul! I bet you no one EVER comes to Sumter, South Carolina. That sucks about the name change though.

-
Aegishjalmar - Jesu Tod
-
Khar, is that really their name or did you sort of let your fingers dance on the keyboard for a couple of seconds?
There's a reason I don't like certain genres, I think it's just because I'd never be able to spell their names... ;)
Now on Simon Joyner - Joy Division
I'm gonna stop listening to music that comes exclusively from Omaha in a bit, I promise..
-
on another Saddle Creek kick, it would seem.
If I had more music, so would I.
but alas...
Air - Sexy Boy
-
Khar, is that really their name or did you sort of let your fingers dance on the keyboard for a couple of seconds?
There's a reason I don't like certain genres, I think it's just because I'd never be able to spell their names... ;)
It means 'Under the protection of Hjalmar', I would imagine. I would suspect this is an unusual spelling of a figure from Norse mythology. The only other Hjalmar I can think of is former german economic minister Hjalmar Schact, and I can't think why even a Nazi band (which they may be) would name themselves after him.

On his wrist, the razor blade
Young man, hang your head and cry
It's time to suffer, time to die
Abandon you the dreams of youth
Abandon love, hope and truth!
She will crush you, she'll excite you
She'll destroy you, she'll ignite you

Never dies

the coral - calenders and clocks (i nearly forgot about them; apparently they have a new cd out?)
-
Skyclad - Vintage Whine
The wordplay in this song is INSANE. The whole thing is an extended metaphor for a start, but seriously...
"Here's one for the road - afore ye go
drink deep sweet lads and lasses
Those blighted crops you gladly sow
shall one day fill your glasses
Brood for decades - pure hate distilled
then bottled up much longer
Revenge - a draught i'll serve you chilled,
when time has made it stronger
Non-cordial - it's bile bouquet.
Laments ferment the patience schnapps
Cask full of mulled futile dismay
My well-aged-rage - you 've turned the taps
Anno 1999 - a classic year for Vintage Whine."
Serious awesomeness.

Cattle Decapitation - Pedeadstrians
"Pieces of glass from my headlight
Stick in your eyes, impairing your sight
My auto a human blender
Chunks of viscera splatter my fender
Helplessly awaiting assistance
Rearview shows carnage much further in distance
In reverse I finish the job
Pull forward to reduce your family to globs
Transmission grinds face into pavement
Vertebrial folding and organ displacement
Witnesses distraught and disturbed
Your teeth beyond shattered, your mandible curbed
Gas tank now fills with your blood
Your mother's sweet baby now part of my hood
Should've watched where you were going
Now you're the chunks I'm blowing..."
*thrashes out*
This song is one of my favourite death metal tracks EVERRR!
-
Skindred - Bruises
khar, i find that highly disturbing.
-
Pssh, tis a softcore track!
Cattle Decapitation - Chummified
"Chopped up. Chunks. Cuts.
Frozen in buckets of blood
With my trusty machete
I carve the parts to summon the sharks
Lurking around the jetty
In a frenzy they're circling, their incisors ready
To masticate and to munch
These things you call humans but we call it lunch
They smell it from miles away
I stand at the dock now a butchering block
Smashing. Hacking. Laughing.
We carry a payload
Chopped torsos, heads and limbs
Ground into a mulch
Frozen and chummified"
The best part is, they're all vegetarians.

65 Days of Static - This Cat is a Landmine

Cat Power - You are Free

Could you, fan of Cat Power, send me a song or two? My friend wants to take me to a show of theirs and while they do sound extremely terrific, I can't exactly go to a show without having heard them. That sorta lame and shitty and such.
Listening to:
The Harvestman (Daddy Longlegs)
by The Sugarplastic
Then comes the part where the bass comes in and its like diddlydiddly DOW diw diw DOW DOW diw diddlydiddly
-
Blonde Redhead - Bipolar
Just picked up "Fake Can Be Just As Good" the other day and now I'm kind of obsessed with it.

I'd definitely recommend listening to their/her recordings before going to the live show - 'cause, sad to say, I've never heard a good report from a Cat Power show. Seems to be a case of chronic stage fright, or some such. But in terms of what you should listen to, I'd say check out Moon Pix - especially "Metal Heart" and "Colours and the Kids".

System of A Down - Ciagro

Romantica - on my mind

Siobhan - my mate's interning there at the moment (Europe branch) and is hogging the spot so that I can't do it - if it's any consolation, he spends all day packing up envelopes and collecting press cuttings, but even so, it's just...well, it's Saddle Creek!

I suspect it's too much to hope that that's the same 'Metal Heart' that was originally recorded by Accept and covered by Dimmu Borgir?

Do Make Say Think - Anything For Now
-
Listening too:
Little Girls
by Oingo Boingo
What is not to like about Oingo Boingo?! Ok, except that fact that half of the songs have pedophilial reference thrown into them. Other than that. Apparently Steve Bartek's daughter goes to my school.
"I love... Little Girls, they make me feel so good
I love... Little Girls they make me feel so bad
When they're around
they make me feel like I'm the only guy in town
I love... Little Girls they make me feel so good"
OOH! Elation! Mr. Bungle's "Golem II: The Bionic Vapor Boy" just came on. This mix is awesome.
-
Do Make Say Think - Anything For Now
Excellent.
...still listening to Boards of Canada - Turquoise Hexagon Sun
-
Spasticated Razor Musturbator - Passion of the Storm
-
Elliot Smith - Ugly Before
-
Time - Pink Floyd
Time is timeless. I think this is just one of the better songs in rock history. "Time", "Trilogy", "Come Together", and "Some Girls". Those are my 4 classic rock songs that will never get old. "Summer In The City" could go in there too.
-
Painless by Mae. I just have the album on repeat right now. Good stuff.

Shadow Project : alpha and omega
-
Is alpha and omega the band? Cause my friend started a band called I Am The Alpha (I Am Also The Omega).
Either way, I am listening to some good ol' cult classical:
Jupiter
Album: The Planets
Composer: Gustave Holst
I still really wanna do a 6-guitar cover of this. 6 guitars and fucking timpanis. I think it should be a requirment that every album ever recorded should have at lesat one second of timpani action. I wanna make a song thats just didgeridoo and timpani some time. That would kick ass.
-
nope, alpha and omega is the song title.
and timpani rocks my house. SO HARD.
Symmetry : hand ov glory
solo electronic that sounds oddly like '80s pop crossed with dark ambiënt crossed with just a pinch ov drum & bass. absolute fucking droolage.
-
"Santa Monica" - Everclear
-
Seatbelts : 23~
-
One last before I go to the shower and then to my sleephovel:
The Dance Of Maya
by Mahavishnu Orchestra
John McLaughlin is argueably the best guitar player in all of jazz fusion, purely based on his ability to bend every genre he wants to his will. This song is like the Beatles and the Dandy Warhols and Frank Zappa all simultaneously creating a baby. A baby with a guitar and a nice sustain pedal jamming with Billy Cobham (killer drummer).
On the subject of Billy Cobham, download a song of his called "Quadrant 4". This keyboard playing is sooooo advanced for the time. The synth player is out of his mind. Plus the guitar player from Deep Purple's in it. He even plays some decent thrash on one or two of the tracks. And the album is from 1973 - 4. Good shit.
-
Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues
I tried to sing along with this from the age of about eight, only managed it properly a couple of years back.
-
That's why you need the video, where he's flipping the cue-cards.
-
Yes, that is a mighty fine video.
Carpathian Forest - He's Turning Blue
-
Pagan's Mind - Caught In A Dream
Mmmmm more prog.
-
I always liked the fact that Ginsberg is wandering round behind him in that video, for no reason whatsoever.
I'm listening to an Autechre session I just downloaded. It's an hour long, and there's about six hours more of their session stuff a guy posted links to on another forum. Fully mint.

Sweet, thanks alot, I love Autechre.
Right now I'm listening to some 'deep house'. I have no idea what the song is or who it's by, as I don't listen to house. I just thought I'd give this live set I found a go. It's alright.
-
VNV Nation : epicenter
first VNV nation song i ever heard, and it's still öne ov my favourites.
-
"Strung Out Again" -- Elliot Smith

Skinny Puppy - "Goneja"

Tortoise - Dots/Eyes
killer track, I am enjoying It's All Around You so far :)
-
Giant Haystacks - Are We Safe Yet?
-
Steppeulvene(the Coyotees) - Itsi Bitsy
as hippie as it gets and Eik Skalře(the leadsinger, who disappeared in India or something) sounds so stoned when he sings "Neeepaaaal"
-
Sun Caged - Sedation
-
Nine Inch Nails - "Sunspots"
-
I absolutely LOVE Tortoise. They are in my top 5 at the moment. My friends call me on being a hipster snob whenever I listen to them, though. Haters.
Kruder & Dorfmeister - Useless (K&D Sessions), Depeche Mode
(I think my first VNV song was Solitary then immediately the rest of the Praise the Fallen album :) ... btw... Ronan Harris is such a man-slut its not even funny. I met him at a show once and he was immediately all over my friend that came with me. She spent the rest of the night backstage with about 10 other gals drooling over him. He signed a soccer jersey for me, though, so its all good.)

-
Manu Chao - Radio Bemba Sound System

-
queens of the stone age - sky is falling
-
Karl Sanders - Saurian Meditation
Been wanting to hear this album for a while and it's damn good. You can certainly hear bits you'd find in Nile as intros or little interludes, but it doesn't just sound like collections from the cutting room floor.
-
Ewigkeit - About Time
Just got the album.
AWESOME.
-
!!! - The Step
I've heard alot of good things about these !!! people, so I thought I'd give their self titled album a go. It's pretty good, but as usual, much of it is ruined by vocals. If I could get an instrumental version of this album, it would kick ass.
Truth be told, I'm getting a little pissed off with how I instantly dislike 99.9% of all songs with singing in. I just can't help it though, it almost always sound awful. The number of perfectly good bands that I've written off the second I hear a lyric is getting silly.
-
The Used- Lunacy Fringe
AGGGH this song has me feeling so emo *sighs then continues singing along*
-
Lens Lekman - You Are The Light
Seriously, this man is amazing. I need more bad.

Radiohead - Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box
-
C.V Jřrgensen - Fraklip fra det Fjerne
he's a rock legend in Denmark, and though he has turned jazz and thinker as oppose to rock and rebel, he still writes fantastic lyrics, the music though is a bit boring...
-
The Weakerthans - Aside
It bores me, which is a shame.
-
Skyclad - Any Old Irony?
Best band theme song ever.
-
Ammer & Console - Dr. Watson
-
the always great Monstrum Sepsis. End of an Era off of Deep Sea Creatures. this is an album everyone should own. no exceptions. while you're at it, get the new one, and the remix album for the first called Doors&Windows.
-
The Decemberists - The Gymnast, High Above the Ground.
-
My housemate's Audioslave D.V.D. being played VERY LOUDLY in his room . . . OH GOD MY BRAIN one of the band members just called Chris Cornell "a poet" and his lyrics "existential"!
UPDATE: Ah, blessed relief - Audioslave is gone and I'm listening to "If I Were a Bell" off Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet.
-
ahhh audioslave!
"sad for a day"- tilly and the wall.
i've been listening to them all day. sweetly addictive
-
Minus the Bear - Lemurs man, Lemurs =)

Lykathea Aflame - Land Where Sympathy Is Air
Finally got a copy of the Elvenefris album from online. And it's looking to hold up it's rep of being one of the great underground Death/Grind albums. And my god, Ptoe is an even better Death Vox guy that Lord Worm, it's amazing.
-
Belle and Sebastian - Piazza, New York Catcher
-
Lykathea Aflame are great.
My Dying Bride - Grace Unhearing [Portishell Remix]
-
Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays
-
Slipknot - Sic
-
Deazilla - I have no idea what the track is called, but a mate gave me a cd and we're meant to be djing one of their gigs. It's...random, a little bit Dresden Dolls, a little bit Soft Cell sans synths and disco.
-
right now, i am listening to fields of fire by my mates dads band, big country, they are fooking amazing........or were anyway...... i think one of them killed themself or something
-
Computer mouses by other people...
-
Edge of Sanity - Blood-Coloured

Neutral Milk Hotel - Ghost
ASturge is right, this is an almighty song.
-
Jasmine Star - Sky Decides
I think I must get her/they/whatever album, very intriguing :)
-
Death - Story to Tell
-
Orthrelm - Untitled #5
Math, math and more math!
-
I really should check more Mathcore out at some point...but I have the feeling I'm gonna find it lacking compared to heavier and more chaotic Technical and Avant Garde Metal.
-
The Tea Party- Wishing you would stay
*sigh* it's better than the emo shit i keep listening to but it still aint my usual proggy rock goodness :-P Damn music relatin to moods
-
beatallica - the thing that should not let it be
-
Fightstar - Mono
6 minutes until Charlie Simpson calls me!
*squeals like a fangirl*
-
I really should check more Mathcore out at some point...but I have the feeling I'm gonna find it lacking compared to heavier and more chaotic Technical and Avant Garde Metal.
Depends what you're looking for really. Mostly it's not as heavy as a lot of metal, but the technicality of a band like Orthrelm really is impressive. Live they just play non-stop for ages, running one tech riff and time change into another. But since, like Hella, there's no bassist they don't have that heavy sound of metal.
-
Not having a bassist doesn't give them any excuse, Pig Destroyer still manage to sound perfectly like Grindcore with just drums and one guitar. But that's not the issue. That V for Vendetta you posted in the forced listening thread, didnt sound anything like Math to me...that's the issue I have. No energy or even complexity in that track.
Though on a little digging, some people actually consider Orthrelm Metal of a sort. Just send me a list of all the math stuff you listen to....I'll see what I can get hold of when I get the chance really. Dont worry about being...accessable or anything like that, considering my tastes.
EDIT: Downloading the Orthrelm album "2nd 18/04 Norildivoth Crallos Lomrixth Urthiln" now....see what it sounds like if I can get all of it.
-
"Pretty Mary K" - Elliot Smith
-
tool - opiate

It's not an excuse really, just that heavyness in the metal sense isn't the object so they don't try and make up for it the way Pig Destroyer do. Hella for instance aren't what I'd call harsh (although Orthrelm are), it's just good music. V For Vendetta are pretty laid back in their approach. Still mathy, but a different take on things to a lot of bands. I'll have a think and pm you with some good mathy stuff from the harsher end of things in a while.

KMFDM - Son of a Gun
I'm starting to think that maybe you've created some kind of script that posts what you're listening to onto like... 5 forums at once. Either that or it's how you spend half your day. :/
-
Orthrelm - Chriosainqueilltor.
It's pretty good, though it does should like it should be heavier noise.
-

Eh? I only do it here.
Queen Adreena - Cold Fish
-
Cramps - TV Set
I enjoy intensely maybe four or five songs from this band? The guy's voice is so annoying. I still listen to the rest of their stuff, though.
-
My Dying Bride - Sear Me MCMXC III
A piano, a violin and a human voice.
Excruciating beauty.
-
Ben Folds 5 - Brick

Vangelis - Blade Runner blues
I've promised myself that I'll play that one with a saxophone atleast once in my life.
-
Bright Eyes - A Calender Hung Itself

Transatlantic - Duel with a devil.
then
ELP - Karn Evil 9, to follow

"Pretty Mary K" - Elliot Smith
Nice.
Hot Water Music - Remedy
The singer's is so damn gritty, I love it. Brings me back to why I used to listen to punk music insecently.
-
Hot Water Music - "Caution"
indeed, HWM is great.
-
Bright Eyes - Jetsabel removes the undesirables
-
*high fives Jaret*
Screeching Weasel - I Hate Led Zepplin

Alkaline Trio - "Time To Waste"
-
Star One - Master of Darkness
A conceptual space metal song about Star Wars? With Dan Swano as Darth Vader? HELL YES.
-
Death Cab For Cutie- Tiny Vessels
Second time I've heard the song (the first being 5 minutes ago) and it's making me very sad in a good, non-emo kind of way.

cpt pickard, you are the brother.
Transatlantic rock my face. And Karn Evil is the greatest work in prog I think. If only a harder band than ELP would do an extended version of it. Especially 1st Impression pt. II. Imagine that, done by Dream Theatre, 14 minutes long, not counting 1st Impression pt. I.

Skyclad - Catherine at the Wheel
"Her flesh was all he wanted -
But his blood was what she got,
And did he dream of scenes x-rated
when she showed him Salem's lot?
Now the hunted is the hunter
with a heart as cold as steel,
See the empty rear view mirror showing
Catherine at the wheel."
-
Hot Hot Heat--"Bandages"
Marvelous song. ^^
-
Skyclad - Brimstone Ballet
"When the church and its leaders sought new ways to bleed us -
It didn't take them long to find,
Fear of perdition beats nuclear
Fission at making the mill-wheels grind.
Ban contraception - a shrewd move says I
Plenty of slaves born to suffer and die.
Say "Go forth and multiply" when you want more.
When you've too many just send them to war.
History's wounds will not heal overnight -
They pray for my soul as they set me alight.

Thought up by a christian with God on his side..."

Last Good Sleep
Droney doom with a little added post-rock. And I just finished listening to the Naked Shit demo 'Defication', which is half an hour of drone on two cds (one vocal, one guitar). It's one of those days.
-
(Y) for Drone...and that 2cd of different types of Drone thing sounds interesting.
Blacklight is good, well...Electronic Doom, as it's done mostly with a PC and a bass. And it's mates project, so I like it anyway. And he gives it out for free online, makes it all the better.
-
I got both of those free too. Last Good Sleep is my mate Rob's project. He's doing another one which'll be more on the post-rock side, and then he thinks he'll probably move it totally into that territory. He doesn't think he's got much good doom left in him. And Naked Shit was sent to me by the guy free, he just wants to get his music out there so he was asking on a couple of messageboards if anyone wanted the demo. If you're interested he might still have copies, the address with the cd for him is hostsepia(at)hotmail.com if you wanted to find out some more.
-

Adrian Belew on lead guitar. He's had his fingers in lots of different pies, like Zappa, Bowie, more recent King Crimson incarnations, I think he's even been doing some stuff with Claypool lately.

I just playedd it in the pub tonight, and was met with resounding apathy.
Oh well. One day I will make the indie fools appreciate properly decent music.
I wish...
-
Asian Drums II (Kiyoshi Yoshida) - "Summer Grass"
Its a wadaiko drum album produced by an electronic artist with the Bonten and synths together. Kinda one of my more "what the hell?" cds my friends comment on.
-
Mostly cause of the insane mudslinging going on in the Frances The Mute thread... The Mars Volta -- "Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus"

Inkubus Sukkubus - A Song to Pan
I'm not sure if it's double standards or not, but I bloody love pagan hymns.
"Our great horned God of ages past
Lord of the hunt, Lord of the dance
From that place where ye lie slain
come to me, return again
Across the mountains, the fields and sand
Be once more upon this land
Our great horned God, Of times gone by
Lord of the earth, The sea and the sky
O'er the forest, and o'er the glade
be with us now and for all our days
Herne! Cernunnos! Satyr! Pan!
Be once more upon this land!"

Plus, I happen to be flat broke. That's what happens when you lose a $300 pair of glasses and have to get another. Damned blindness. And, I just really like that song. ^^ Repetitive or not.
-
That's what happens when you lose a $300 pair of glasses and have to get another. Damned blindness.
Thats ironic, actually. I just got a call from my eye doctor yesterday that my 'replacement' glasses just came in. I feel your pain.
No, I was referencing that I, myself, need to get more Metric.
...still listening to the Bravery.
-

Join me, we'll rule the galaxy!"
Yeah, it's about Star Wars. Yeah, it rules.
-
Air - Sexy Boy
Nice.
Garbage - My Lover's Box
Listening to Garbage makes me feel all old and grown up. I used to listen to them when I was about 10 with my older brother, I have a sounding suspicion he had a bit of a crush on Shirley Manson when we were younger.

Roxy Music - Angel Eyes
This is what Glam Rock should be like. Every Roxy Music song evokes visions within me of Brian Ferry and Eno and Phil Manzenera wearing shiney-ass clothing and and slowdancing inbetween thousands of glittery lights and whatnot.
"Oh Angel eyes - am I deceived or did you sigh?
For all I know you let you love light
Shine on me"

prove that even Low can use death metal rethoric, or perhaps not;)
and now it's Low - In Metal
I like Low...especially Mimi Parkers voice, the best female vocal I have heard in a long time, up there with Tori Amos and others.
...and she's mormon, awesome piece of useless trivia!
-
Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons
-
Tangaroa - Ever Fucked A Black Metal Whore?
-
Edge of Sanity - Of Darksome Origin

Wuthering Heights - The Land of Olden Glory

Where the dark outshines the bold
A mounting cost of dreamers lost
And gowing old.
Yet ever striding onwards
The quest will never rest
A hunter in the dark
And you will never catch me again
I'm growing stronger now
With every wound I get somehow
You can't take nothing from me
Anymore, because I
Left the land of olden glory
Journeyed through the night
Leave a light for me my friend
And I will come inside"

Dresden Dolls -- "Girl Anachronism"

Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper...
followed by:
Metric - Dead Disco
-
Múm - "The Land Between Solar Systems"
its bed-time and that means its time for some nice mellow music
-
Lamb Of God - 11th Hour
-
The Bad Plus - Iron Man
Their version wins. Sorry Randy, sorry Ozzy.
-
The song at the end of Chrono Cross. Actually, my girlfriend just beat it, and I'm listening to it through the phone.
Yeah.
-
OK, are Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross realated at all? I've been trying to figure this out and I can't remember what Chrono Cross was like, as I only played it once...
-
Yes they are somehow related, but I'm not sure (I've only played ChronoTrigger). My younger brother would definately know.
Boards of Canada - "Aquarius"
I'm going to sleep this time, I swear.
-
The Arcade Fire - Rebellion(lies)
I am actually crying now...damn I am a wuss...no song has ever made me cry, I suppose that is as good an recommendation as any for getting Funeral...
-
SM + Jicks - Face the Truth
-
EITS - The Only Moment We Were Alone (Live @ ?)
-
OK, are Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross realated at all? I've been trying to figure this out and I can't remember what Chrono Cross was like, as I only played it once...
It's a very loose sequel, with, like, none of the same characters. As far as I remember.
Graveworm - Fear of the Dark
-
Death From Above 1979 - Cold War
-
Maria Taylor - Leap Year
I love this album.
-
Pixies - Doolittle
jć!
Finally got me cds...
-
Right this very /moment/, I'm listening to the mechanical whirring of computers and whiny little tenth-graders whining.
But in my /head/, I have a lovely soundtrack to my life composed of every song The Cranberries ever wrote. =nods=
-
"In your head, in your head ZOM-BIE, ZOM-BIE, ZOM-BIE, HEY HEY..."
-
=rocks out to the music IN HER HEAD=
In your heeaaaaad, in your heea--aaa-ead, .....
-
Laibach - The Final Countdown (Europe cover)
-
omg.. Aphi, you rock... that was... just... oh jeez... well done
now: Pink Floyd -- Have A Cigar... thanks to a different thread :P
-
Emperor - I am the Black Wizards
\m/
-
Wilco - Too Far Apart
Wow. I'm really in a Wilco fix, first Summerteeth, now A.M.
A.M.'s such a fun cd. Once you get past the country sound, it's such a fantastic cd. Everyone should listen to Wilco....EVERYONE! Even Khar! :)
-
Am I the only one who didn't like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot?
I seem to be the minority opinion in some celebrated Indie bands/albums.
Anyway...
Leif Erikson - Interpol (awesome song)
Get Lifted - Johnny Legend (What's wrong with some hip-hop/soul? :P)
Go! - Common (same as above)
Oh, Goddamit - Hot Hot Heat (w00t)
-
=bows, giggling like the ditzy snot she is=
I luff you, Jeridus.^^
To stay on topic, I'm /actually/ listening to The Cranberries now that I'm out of school. Hooray for owning No Need To Argue. 'mazing album, I don't care /what/ you say.
-
Pixies - Doolittle
jć!
Finally got me cds...
DEBASER = ORGASM
-
Frank Sinatra - My Kind Of Town
-
Even Khar! :)
Oh, but everytime I download one of these things I end up not liking it and discussions start and Milkmandan is all blughblughblugh.
Illnath - Cast Into Fields of Evil Pleasure
If everyone listened to this, I would be a contended and happy person.
-
=pokes Khar's avvie= You know that I didn't even know where I'd seen that before 'till I watched Donnie Darko again last night?
-
The Olivia Tremor Control - Courtyard
-
=pokes Khar's avvie= You know that I didn't even know where I'd seen that before 'till I watched Donnie Darko again last night?
'tis 'Oog' by my esteemed artistic hero Mr. Escher.
Skyclad - Cancer of the Heart
"To show compassion makes you weak
so don't dare turn the other cheek,
Try hard to hide the fear you feel
with a heart of stone and nerves of steel
A naked-ape in the human zoo
you amaze me with the things you do
I watch your pride before the fall
and realise I don t belong at all."
-
Mercaptan - Demo tape
I feel rather chuffed I'm getting sent demos these days. This one's... actually, I'm yet to form an opinion. It's the first thing I've been sent that hasn't sucked outright, and I want to give it a good hearing.
-
=nods= Okay, that makes sense. But in the whole, 'going back in time' scene in Donnie Darko, it zooms in on that eye-thing for a bit.
Thursday--"Jet Black New Year"
-
Skyclad - The Antibody Politic
"If there's anyone else out there,
disillusioned just like me;
It's time we tried to turn the tide,
with an overwhelming minority.
The masses are numb, their ethics awry.
Nothing's as dumb as the Vox Populi.
If there's anyone else out there,
aiming sawn-off philosophy;
Let's all unite and make things right,
with an overwhelming minority."
-
Am I the only one who didn't like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot?
It's actually scientifically impossible to not like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
(Actually, Jeph's rabbit thinks it's overrated)
But, what's not to like about it?
-
Skyclad - Penny Dreadful
"Turn on! Tune up! Cash in! Sell out!"
-
O.o Age found his old Aqua albums. He is forcing them to my head through itunes.
=sings, mesmerized= bumblebee.......
noooooooo...so...dancy.
-
Am I the only one who didn't like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot?
It's actually scientifically impossible to not like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
(Actually, Jeph's rabbit thinks it's overrated)
But, what's not to like about it?
I'm liking Jeph's rabbit, then. XP
I don't know; I just never got into it. I enjoyed "Being There" and "Summerteeth" a lot more.
-
M83 - A Guitar and A Heart
-
cruxshadows are really cool my m8 introduced them to me.
fucking amazing
what would we do if there was no music!!!!!!!!!!!!
we would alll die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
. . .
Halo of Flies - Empire of the Daleks
Is it wrong that I enjoy the music I create despite how bad it is?
-
=smirks= Debatable...
Just kidding, Khar.
The Arrogant Worms--Canada is Really Big
Just for the fun of it.
-
Hanzel und Gretyl - Let the Planets Burn
I love bands that exploit the silliness of their genres in awesome ways.
"Deactivate the manipulator!
Disintegrate the disintegrator!
Deactivate the manipulator!
Disintegrate the disintegrator!
Eins, Zwei, Drei, Vier! Let the planets burn!"
I mean, who sits down and says "Ok, so, our next album, how about a concept album on the theme of Nazis in space?"
-
Wish You Away -by- Tiara
-
Hanzel und Gretyl - Third Reich From the Sun
-
Interpol - Evil
...thanks to the catchy music thread... bah.
-
Me - The Crying Orc (Still subtley wrong version)
argh, getting these riffs to flow into each other just so is crazy-hard.
-
Iris DeMent - Infamous Angel.
Mmmm . . . At the end of the working week nothing soothes frayed nerves like quiet country music.
-
Squirrel Nut Zippers - Got My Own Thing Now
Speaking of riffs, I am playing on my friend's extremely high-tech magical harmonizing amp tomorow. It does something like 36 different harmonies, including the world's greatest Minor 1-3-6 and a quad-octave (2 octaves below and 2 above the note you play) and does auto triads and stuff. It is the shit. It can even do automatic powerchords, which will let me go completely insane on Iron Man. Plus, it's not a mono amp. God loves me after all.
-
I'm currently hacking my way through the notes of the open position and sight-reading in the musical theory field, but I think I understand what you are saying. And what I understand is pretty cool.
Orthaugr - Der Weinende Hadnur
Gah, how can one melody repeated for 52 seconds be so fucking beautiful?
-
Tilly and the Wall - Ice Storm, Big Gust, & You
I will never understood the secret part at the end of this, what is the point, doesn't mean I don't love Tilly and the Wall but it is ridiculous in my opinion.
-
Hawkwind - Brainstorm
-
Beneath The Massacre - Beneath The Massacre
-
Pickpocket - At the Drive-In
I just picked up the Anthology (This Station is Non-Operational).
-
Primus - Frizzle Fry (Live, around... 92, 93 ish?)
-
Silver Jews - Pan American Blues
-
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
-
Mogwai - Rock Action
uh...scottish ;)
-
Pantera - Cemetary Gates
OMG DIMEBAG WAS TEH BEST GEETAREST ROFLMAO AND SLIPKNOT IS KOOL THEY HAVE MASKS
-
Zomg.
The Berzerker - Corporal Jigsore Quandry [Carcass Cover]
These guys have masks too! :O
-
So does GWAR. and The Residents. and Nash The Slash wears a mask. and Buckethead. And probably everyone else I listen to.
Frank Zappa - Trouble Every Day
-
bright eyes - sunrise, sunset
-
Deerhoof--Panda panda panda
Heehee. For some reason, this song is so mind-numbingly strange that it makes me want to smile like a complete idiot. I like it. ^^
-
^ me too, that post has casued me to put it on as well
Deerhoof - Panda Panda Panda
-
for one second i thought about listening to that now too, but i don't want to interrupt:
bob dylan - it's alright, ma (i'm only bleeding)
-
So does GWAR. and The Residents. and Nash The Slash wears a mask. and Buckethead. And probably everyone else I listen to.
Should get them all together with Lordi and totally whup Slipknot, and Mushroomhead whilst they're at it.
Satyricon - Mother North
-
Do May Say Think - All of this is True
Nothing like a bit of experimental post hardcore
-
Sigh - Requiem/Nostalgia
Lovely.
-
Tears For Fears--Mad World
can't help it.
-
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races...
...still, Sigh - Requiem/Nostalgia. 'tis a long track.
-
Going nowhere, going nowhere..
And their tears are filling up their glasses,
no expression, no expression,
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow,
no tomorrow, no tomorrow.....
What can I say? If you don't like that song, you're crazy.
-
And now that I'm done with that..
Her Space Holdiay--My Girlfriend's Boyfriend
-
Yes - Roundabout
I'm feeling in a totally old skool prog rock mood.
-
Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Went Numb
Can't wait for this show. I need to get some serious skanking out my system. *Grabs a rude boy and dances like mad*
-
Her Space Holdiay--My Girlfriend's Boyfriend
Upon seeing, that, I cannot resist listening to:
Type O Negative - My Girlfriend's Girlfriend
"Her and me an her and she and me
An uncrowded couple are we three
Hey we don't care what people say,
When walking hand in hand down Kings Highway
Two for one today...Yeah!
[Smouldering keyboard riff]"
-
Pixies - Crackity Jones
-
The Postal Service---Such Great Heights.
Heyyy, I /like/ this indieradio thing. It's the first time now it's played a song I didn't have to google to find out who sung it.
-
Cock Sparrer - Bats Out!
Gotta love a bit of Oi!
-
Bola - Pentagon
Ambient electro that is pretty hard to find. I like this one because it uses a cut from the Metroid music.
-
Acid Bath - Venus Blue
...aaaahhhh ^_^ This track is so relaxing. And imitating the doped up depressed drawl is just so fun!
-
Chisel - "Do Go On"
-
I always found it amazing how Acid Bath could have such wonderful vocals and some mellow acoustic songs, then thrash into something like Cassie eats Cockroaches.
Dax's voice is one of the reason's I like them so much. You don't expect such a nice singing voice coming from a metal band (or at least I don't).
Mum - Nightly Cares
then... Scanner - Sonnenlicht
-
So does GWAR. and The Residents. and Nash The Slash wears a mask. and Buckethead. And probably everyone else I listen to.
Should get them all together with Lordi and totally whup Slipknot, and Mushroomhead whilst they're at it.
The Residents do not kick peoples asses, but rather confuse them with music until they EXPLODE.
Gabby La La - Backpack (Live, someplace.)
Gabby La La is one of the most annoyingly catchy artists. Gah! Get the damned backpack song out of my head! Begone, Accordians, Ukeleles, and Sitars! Also, the crowd is full of shits. Some guy just runs up to the recording mic and yells out "Knock Knock Knockin' On Satan's Door" Like Axl Rose and then bursts out laughing like he's the most original, fucking hilarious person on EARTH. God.
-
The Libertines - The Saga
-
Dax's voice is one of the reason's I like them so much. You don't expect such a nice singing voice coming from a metal band (or at least I don't).
He's a very good vocalist. Probably only my third favourite clean male vocalist in metal though. My favourites would be Glenn Danzig (duh) and Dan Swano. Second ones a bit more unknown: download Edge of Sanity - Sacrificed and Nightingale - Recollections for an idea of his clean skills (though neither is really a metal song). For a real experience though, try the juxtaposition of great clean singing and great death vox (he does both) on tracks like Edge of Sanity - Enigma and Blood Coloured. Awesome: he's the only guy I can think of who could even hope to do justice to Danzigs 'Mother' (which he does). On top of which, he's also an incredible multi-instrumentalist. Git.
and because of that, I am now listening to:
Edge of Sanity - Blood of My Enemies [Manowar cover].
-
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
-
Eels - I'm Going To Stop Pretending That I Didn't Break Your Heart
-
Portishead - Love of Life
from that lost album called Alien I have been babbling about on occasion, and never listen to, so now is the time...
-
Civil Defiance - Circu of Fear
-
Well I'm getting ready for Ren Faire Season so Blackmores Night of course....
Keith
-
John Prine, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan - You are my sunshine
-
kyuss - katzenjammer
-
Kanji Kawai - Making of a Cyborg
-
M.I.A - Arular
Hearing it for the first time...not bad
-
A while up, someone said they were listening to Modest Mouse. I put it off for a day, but couldn't resist any longer, so I pulled out my (decidedly battered) copy of "Good News For People Who Love Bad News". In the time it took me to write this, Dance Hall ended, and now (it's on shuffle mode)
my ears are being treated to "Bury Me With It".
-
Well I'm getting ready for Ren Faire Season so Blackmores Night of course....
Duh.
Blackmore's Night - The Hanging Tree
-
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Tennessee Stud(I think)
It's either folk or country, I am not entirely sure, it's not that bad actually...
-
Call and Response--Rollerskate
=grins like an idiot= This song is so cute .
Before you learn to rock, you learn to rollerskate...
-
Waylander - King of the Fairi
-
Discharge - Free Speach For the Dumb

-
Opeth - A Fair Judgement

-
Captain Beefheart - Low Yo Yo Stuff
-
Leonard Cohen - The Future
"I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE, IT IS MURDER"
-
Grandaddy, recorded live at Glastonbury in 2003 (bonus disc issued with Sumday when they toured Australia last year).
Unfortunately, it doesn't included the great version of "Now It's On" which they played . . . and which I saw, erm, onthetelevision.
-
Ministry - Every Day is Halloween
Gothgasmic.
-
the beatles - penny lane
-
Dark Angel - Perish In Flames
-
Momus - "Little Lord Obedience"
-
Pixies - La la love You
He sounds a bit like Steve Merritt from Magnetic Fields, their guitarist.
Anyway I like Doolittle immensely and I have been hungering for the Pixies(based on little else than the name actually) for years..
-
dashboard confessional - as lovers go
-
Rheostatics--Little Bird, Little Bird
=has just purchased 2067= whooooooooo.
-
Skycald - Terminus.
-
I always thought the drummer sang that song...?
that might be right, I just took a wild guess, let me look at the cover... you are completely right and damn that cover is actually pretty creepy...
Interpol - Stella Was a Diver and She was Always Down
I am really glad to have gotten my greasy hands on Turn on the Bright Lights, fab album. It seems all the cds I bought off Amazon are amazing, I mean Pixies, Interpol, M.I.A and the Decemberists...oh my golly
yes I just namedropped a Pixies' song title, ugh I tire even myself...
-
Sinti - The Flinstones
This guitarist is amazing. And he's only 14 when they recorded this CD. God bless Django-esque gypsy jazz.
-
Mictlantecuhtli - Blood Of Kings
-
Alkaline Trio - "Fall Victim"
holy shit! Pick up there album "Crimson" right now!
-
Metric - combat baby
-
whoa... weird... just finished Combat Baby...
have now moved on to DJ DJ by the Transplants
-
Four Tet - As Serious As Your Life
This track is the single funkiest and most amazing thing I've ever heard. As good as the track She Moves She, but slightly less random. Everyone, please check this guy out, he'll trip the fuck outta you.....damn, I wish I had some pot...
-
I've been listening to Four Tet for quite some time now. Absolutely love it and a lot of his remixes.
Too bad the laptop DJ thing doesn't transform very well live. I wasn't impressed.
M83 - Run into Flowers
:)
-
Jem - 24
-
Napalm Death - Leaders Not Followers Pt 2
Man, a covers album that doesn't suck. And they kept the solos, good people.
-
^ I'm a big fan of Entombed's 'Sons of Satan Praise the Lord' album. The Bob Dylan cover is amazing.
-
Hellacopters - By the Grace of God
pretty damn fine, apropos I think they've got the drummer from Entombed, Nick Royale or what he calls himself, as singer. He is also a part of The Solution, where he collaborates with some old Detroit garage singer, making spanking good motown soul if you ask me...
-
Yahr, Nicke Andersson.
Skyclad - Pagan Man
"I am the Pagan Man,
I speak for all my kind,
When I criticise your point of view,
Your hollow state of mind.
You say that I'm an animal,
Well this at least is true,
I'm a thinking breathing human being:
What the hell are you?"
-
The Blood Brothers - My First Kiss at the Public Execution
They've sorta.. mellowed out on Crimes. It's not as crazy as before. and there's nothing about Bulimic Rainbows.
-
Pssh, the bulimic rainbows made it good
I'm listening to 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue'.
Just reading out Mrs. Trellis' letter, and about to play Mornington Crescent. With GPS.
-
Behexen - Celebration of Christ's Fall
-
I was always partial to boiling lagoons chewing bubblegum pink.
Lamb of God - 'Vigil'. Everyone knows that 'As the Palaces Burn' and '11th Hour' are the best songs on that record, though.
-
Now they're taking the piss out of GW Bush
-
Who is?
-
I'm sorry I haven't a clue were.
The Clan Destined - Swingin' Like Judas
-
haste the day - when everything falls
-
The Mars Volta - Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus

3 Inches of Blood - Deadly Sinners
This song is so fucking metal. It makes me feel all fuzzy!
"Flash of iron! Leather, spikes and swords!
Mighty warriors with METAL on their sides!
Enemies of metal! Your death is our reward!
Triumphant victory when we bring the steel to life...
Crushing the light!
Stalking the night!
DEADLY SINNERS ALWAYS WIN!"
\m/

The Decemberists - The Mariner's Revenge Song
-
Shadowland -by- Youth Group
Pretty good band. Just heard them today.
Sovay -by- Andrew Bird
Wow. Good stuff.
-
The Blood Brothers - My First Kiss at the Public Execution
They've sorta.. mellowed out on Crimes. It's not as crazy as before. and there's nothing about Bulimic Rainbows.
Some nutter is actually trading me my barely-played copy of Crimes for a few records, including one by a guy who used to play guitar for Bastard Noise. The crazy fool is even taking a dull-as-dishwater-that's-unusually-tedious-even-for-slightly-dirty-water Rachel's CD! Sweet.
-
Bjork - 5 Years
-
Orange Goblin - The Magic Carpet
fucking decent stoner shit.
"Yeah! Take it down now! Yeah! Come and ride with me upon the magic carpet! Break it down now..." Laid back shit, for the drinking of booze and the smoking of weed, well, i would imagne, as I've negver doneweed.
-
Rheostatics--The tarleks.
What a catchy--unusual but catchy----beat! It even distracted me from maths today.
-
I've been listening to Dead Meadow's most recent album, Feathers for a while now. It's basically Stoner Black Sabbath and they rock. I'm glad I have so many good hometown bands. ;D
-
Gorerotted - Village People of the Damned
-
Soilwork - As We Speak
Just bought Eagles of Death Metal - Peace Love Death Metal
as well as
Magic Dirt - Tough Love
-
Gorerotted - Fuck Your Arse With Broken Glass
-
Gorerotted - Fuck Your Arse With Broken Glass

Neutral Milk Hotel - Snow Song Pt. 1
-
Bob Dylan - Tangled up in Blue
-
Damnit, now I have to go listen to Burn, Piano Island, Burn...

-
The Blood Brothers - "Cecilia And The Silhouette Saloon"
-
Venetian Snares - Szerencsétlen
-
Now that was a damn fine album, as was 'March On Electric Children'.

Thursday--A Hole In The World.
Woww....odd mood. Call me crazy, but whenever I hear 'Autobiography of a Nation', I'm sorely reminded of a scene from Anne Rice's "Queen of The Damned".
O.o My mind makes strange connections.
-
Halo of Flies - Empire of the Daleks
YOU WILL BE EX-TER-MI-NA-TED!!

This album is kickass. Just reading the tracklist is enough for me.

Hammerfall - Hammerfall
"We share a dream, the future is ours
A Metal Heart is hard to tear apart,
Heed the call!
A flash of light calls out the providers
We run this race, but we will never crawl,
all hail Hammerfall!"

Agalloch - ...And the Great Cold Death of the Earth
"Earth is floating on the waters like an island,
Hanging from four rawhide ropes
Fastened at the top of the Sacred four directions.
The ropes are tied to the ceiling of the sky,
When the ropes break, this world will come
Tumbling down and all living things will fall with it and die. . ."

Khar's music stuff from that one post. Crazy shit. What I will be listening to when I return to the sane-er real world, I will be listening to:
Dr. Didg - Pianola Strut (didgeridoo-world-funk is tres sexy. Would make an excellent porn groove.)
-
The Flaming Lips - the Gash
-
Union of Uranus - Revolve.
Picked this up after that little spat about "Real Emo" in the Irrational Hatred thread. Finally had chance to get hold of some and listen to it. I'm liking it, it does what I want from my Core.
-
Machinehead - Supercharger
I heard that song in a bar and i just had to have it, so i immediatly bought a Machinehead album :D
-
Curl Up And Die - And Then The Robots Killed

Death From Above 1979 - Little Girl
-
Khar's music stuff from that one post. Crazy shit.
Muahahaha, you git, now you've got me listening to.

Hawkwind - Spirit of the Age
and I'm wearing my gas mask. Because it just seems like a gas mask kinda day.
-
such a surge feat. ferris MC - chaos

Wynona - Strange Wings
They made up their own genre to describe their music; nordicana ;)
It is precisely as awesome as it sounds, and I heard the Wagner fellow from Lampchop loves them.. I hate Lampchop *insert a snide chuckle*

Bjork - Hunter
I am on a bit of a 'Homogenic' kick right now.
-
Paul McCartney and Wings - Maybe I'm Amazed (Live)
Woah, cray-z...
-
What If - Coldplay
OMG I M TEH SUX0rz LOL!
Give me a break. These brits knows how to make good records. Besides, they acknowledge the fact that they are more "effeminate" as Martin says in Storytellers. "We don't really rock out. The truth is...we don't have enough hair. If you want some rocking out, you could Zepplin it." He proceeds to hold up the horns.
Yay for bands with a sense of humor. :P
-
Muse- Hysteria
-
Rheostatics--The Tarleks.
To quote a hiphop artist from television, (only slightly paraphrased), "I don't care what you say. That is a /hot/ beat!"
-
Led Zeppelin -- Over the Hills and Far Away
-
Union of Uranus - Revolve.
Picked this up after that little spat about "Real Emo" in the Irrational Hatred thread. Finally had chance to get hold of some and listen to it. I'm liking it, it does what I want from my Core.
Union of Uranus kill it. If you're liking that, maybe try some Orchid and possibly The Great Redneck Hope, they might be satisfying.
Orchid - New Jersey vs Valhalla. I finally got around to buying Chaos Is Me at a distro tonight. Why's it taken me so long? This so, so damn good.
-
More Led Zeppelin, this time, No Quarter... probably one of the best songs of all time
-
Dissection - Night's Blood
-
Massive Attack - Butterfly Caught
next...
Dzihan & Kamien - Stiff Jazz
I'm on a chill playlist of the two above along with Four Tet, Nuspirit Helsinki, The Dining Rooms, Tortoise, Blue Six, and Thievery Corporation. Yay.
-
What If - Coldplay
OMG I M TEH SUX0rz LOL!
Give me a break. These brits knows how to make good records. Besides, they acknowledge the fact that they are more "effeminate" as Martin says in Storytellers. "We don't really rock out. Yes. What you said precisely.
...Except I'm listening to Talk by Coldplay.
-
The Berzerker - February
-
Dragonforce - Valley on The Damned
MMMMEEEETTTTAAAALLLLL \m/ *long over blown Power Metal solo at high speed*
-
Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light
Rock 'nd Roll ^_^
-
Die Toten Hosen - Alles aus Liebe
I don't know, I think Einstürzende Neubauten is better, and probably the only band with german lyrics I would listen to, except maybe Rammstein... and I had heard all these good things about Die Toten Hosen :(
-
Opeth- Windowpane
sort of matches my relaxed cruisy mood with all it's pretty melodic bits
-
Doesn't 'Die Toten Hosen' mean something like 'The Dead Trousers' ??
Bathory - One Rode to Asa Bay
"People of Asa Bay....It's only just begun!!"
Incredible song.
-
that's right, which is partly why I was expecting something more, I mean with such a wicked name... though their song about nine little Jägermeister bottles is entertaining...
-
Belle and Sebastian- Lazy Line Painter Jane
-
Frank Zappa - Apostrophe'.
-
"Stolen Car" by Patty Griffin. She's going to have to do something pretty damned spectacular on her next album if she doesn't want this to be my favourite Patty Griffin song.
-
"Division Street" by Thursday. You know what's great--------THERE'S A DIVISION STREET IN TOWN! WIN!
-
:wumpscut: - The Funeral Diner [Red Tape Version]
-
Thursday--M. Shephard.
This song is soooooooooo sad. Trust me; look up "Matthew Shephard". This sh** should NOT be happening.
=is filled with righteous rage= Noo..wait a sec. It might just be good ol' fashioned teenage angst.
-
Earth Crisis - Firestorm
One of the most unintentionally funny bands ever, right up there with Throwdown and Hatebreed. I think I'm going to have to pop out and unleash the beatdowns on someone for eating cheese with these guys on my headphones.
-
Thursday--War All The Time
=sings= When I was five years old, my best friend's older brother died........
-
One of the most unintentionally funny bands ever, right up there with Throwdown and Hatebreed. I think I'm going to have to pop out and unleash the beatdowns on someone for eating cheese with these guys on my headphones.
Shouldn't you be beating down on yourself for smoking? Or should I say 'Killing yourself, subjecting others to the air that your smoke defiles.'
Earth-Crisis embody everything I don't like about a lot of sXe. Throwdown do for the rest of it.
Talking about sXe always makes me want to listen to:
Tankard - Traitor!
"You sold your soul to money
Thrash! Is what we'll play
The age of truth upon us
Beer! is what we need
We've got no pity for ya
Trash! Is what we'll play
Now death's your final payment
Mosh! It's up to you"
I rank 'Chemical Invasion' alongside 'Reign in Blood'.
-
LCD Soundsystem "Too Much Love"
-
Emperor - A Fine Day to Die
-
Einstürzende Neubauten - Z.N.S
Blixa Bargeld is pretty much a complete lunatic, and I like it immensely ;)
-
V/Vm - "Running Just as Fast as We Can"
One of V/Vm’s signature remixes which renders the original into a sickening mess, this take on Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now" is actually pretty fun.
-
Waylander - Anu's Retribution
-
The Lucksmiths - "Fridge Magnet Song"
-
My Bloody Valentine - When You Sleep
-
My Dying Bride - Sear Me MCMXC III
-
My Awesome Compilation - As Always

-
Metric--Dead Disco
On the RADIO, bitcheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehs!
-
Ladytron - Playgirl
-
Wow. HOW many times is the radio gonna play the SAME Metric song?
I think they may be, dare I say it?
OVERPLAYING Metric.
I still love them, of course.
Dead disco. AGAIN.
-
FINALLY something not Metric.
Gorillaz--Feel good inc.
-
Rammstein - Moskau
-
Alkaline Trio - Stupid Kid
Watching the music video online. My favourite one of all times. *sigh* Oh Matt <3
-
The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs, disc 3.
I only normally listen to the first disc - I've had this album for about 2 years but I think I've only listened to the third disc once before. It's much better than I remember it being - I should listen to it more often!
EDIT: Except "Experimental Music Love": that still sucks.
-
Ladytron - Playgirl
Those fuckers stole that name from a Roxy Music album. Sorry, I just always get pissed about that, mostly because I don't like them very much.
Mr. Bungle - Stubb (A Dub)
I finally picked up all the Mr. Bungle there is to be had.
-
The Polyphonic Spree - Light and Day
I just watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for the 230586th time, and that song won't leave my mind.
-
D-Rail - Reliance
Hmm... I still don't think they work quite as well recorded as live.
-
Inkubus Sukkubus - Atrocity
-
Wynona - The Saddest Cowboy of them All
and he's frankly very sad, even if he is a she.... ;)
-
I finally picked up all the Mr. Bungle there is to be had.

-
Metric---I.O.U.
-
Unicorn Table - Fly Away
-
Rites of Spring - Spring
Hmmm, it's only the start of the album so we'll see. Old school 80's Hardcore style stuff. Sounding ok so far.
-
Metric - Combat Baby
followed by
The Decembrists - The Sporting Life
-
Hanzel Und Gretyl - SS Deathstar Supergalactick
-
Mad Caddies - No Hope
-
tocotronic - es ist egal, aber
german indie-rock i would say.
-
The Author Surrenders - Kimone
God damn it. Silvertree Recordings is going to become my favorite recording company soon. So far all of their bands have been great.
-
Knives Out - Radiohead
I recently got a copy of the Amnesiac album and am taking my first listen through it now. None of Radiohead's other albums seem to have the awesome mellow-rock-out quality of OK Computer...
-
Yeah, since none of their albums (sans Kid A and Amnesiac) are even remotely the same. :P
-
Yeah, since none of their albums (sans Kid A and Amnesiac) are even remotely the same. :P
Is this sarcasm?
-
No. None of them are the same, except for Kid A and Amnesiac.
The reason for that exception is that Amnesiac is made up of cuts from Kid A.
-
No. None of them are the same, except for Kid A and Amnesiac.
The reason for that exception is that Amnesiac is made up of cuts from Kid A.
Ah, I getcha now.
Dredg - Penguins In the Desert
-
The new Avenged Sevenfold album....to see if these claims about going Power Metal are true.
So far, no...almost sounds like Alt Rock.
-
Radiohead - Just
did YOU have a real holy cow?
^If those are even the lyrics... shut up! I'm sleepy!
-
Dynamite Hack - Boyz N The Hood.
I listen to the radio at work, what can I say?
-
The Cranberries--"The Rebels".
looooffly song.
=sings= We wore doc Martens in the sun, drinking vintage cider havin' fun...
-
Earth Wind and Fire - September
I WIN.
-
Skibas, great song. Listen to it all the time. :)
As for me, I've got:
Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Here Comes The Snake
did your god show you the door?
well, i'm here to eat your apple to the core
Yeah, I like big band music. I'm a swing dancer, it's kind of a package deal.
-
Abigor - A Breath From Worlds Beyond
-
Me - Tenacious D's Wonderboy.
woo!
-
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
For some bizarre reason, I didn't delete all the Radiohead off my PC when I was cleaning out crap music so I could fit more Agalloch and Carpathian Forest on. Seeing people frothing about Radiohead once more, thought I might listen to it again.
I shall delete this immediately, this stuff is dire.
-
Genesis - Supper's Ready (Live from the 'Seconds Out' album)
-
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
For some bizarre reason, I didn't delete all the Radiohead off my PC when I was cleaning out crap music so I could fit more Agalloch and Carpathian Forest on. Seeing people frothing about Radiohead once more, thought I might listen to it again.
I shall delete this immediately, this stuff is dire.
And you fail at music.
Listening to some more Kimone. People compare these guys to Radiohead and Sigur Rose.
-
^ I'm sure all that bollocks contributes to why I don't like them.
Oh yeah, and they're really fecking boring and Tom Yorke can't sing properly, forgot that bit.
Sigur Ross are boring as well, but at least they have a bit of atmospherics. And they're Icelandic. Iceland rocks.
Anyway, this guy can sing, and fucking well:
Danzig - Killer Wolf
"WOOOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOLLFFF"
-
karma to burn - patty hearst's closet mantra
-
You're a gimmick. Stop posting.
Face of the Earth - The Dismemberment Plan
-
"I HATE YOU! I HATE THE BAND YOU LIKE!"
Used recently on this very forum, but a wonderful quote. Cheer up, buttercup.
Dark Moor - Nevermore
-
I hate to interrupt this lovely little bitchfest, but I am listening to "The Wanderlust" by Flogging Molly.
-
I'm not mad about you not liking a band I like, but the fact that you attack it ONLY because you're a metal head. Therefore, gimmick. I'm not offended, only annoyed.
END BITCHFEST
I've been listening to the Eel's Blinking Lights and Other Revelations. Good shit, especially since there's no filler in all of that space.
-
Hahahahaha.
You're an idiot.
-
Or he's attacking it because... he might not like it? I don't really like Radiohead either myself.
Captain Beefheart - Hair Pie (Bake 1)
-
=is confused= But...but Khar has expressed a liking for certain musics that are not metal before, hasn't he? I'm sure he has.
Yeearr. Too much thinking after not sleeping. Erm... I am listening to "I dig music" by Rheostatics.
-
What on earth makes you think I'm attacking them because I'm a metalhead? Interested question.
Demons and Wizards - Fiddler on the Green
-
Constantinople - The Residents
(for the Forced Listening topic)
-
Queens of the Stone Age - Hanging Tree
-
Aborym - Faustian Spirit of the Earth
-
Aborym - Faustian Spirit of the Earth
With No Human Intervention is such a great album. So bizarre.
I love Atilla, and I love Aborym.
-
Leonard Cohen - Sing another song, boys
-
Modest Mouse - The Cold Part
-
Doesn't have to be /music/, now does it? 'cause I'm listening to a parade of seven-year-olds tearing apart my house and my sanity.
-
3 Inches of Blood- Ride Darkhorse Ride
-
sleater-kinney - combat rock
-
Halo of Flies - Death No More a Casket
-
The lucky charms song. Accompanied by screaming guitars, and likewise, a shrieking singer. Lovely joke.
"Hearts, stars and horseshoes, clovers and the moon! Pots of gold and rainbows, and a red balloon!"
My friends are weird people.
-
=le cough= Now for some real music.
The Kaiser Chiefs--"I predict a riot"
-
Using the term "real music" very loosely
-
Well, more 'real' than my friends screaming the lucky charms theme.
-
Hammerfall - HammerFall
Hammerfall! We will prevail! \m/
-
I've been listening to the Eel's Blinking Lights and Other Revelations. Good shit, especially since there's no filler in all of that space.
You realize that every instrumental on the CD is essentially a filler, right? They're awesome filler tracks, but they ARE fillers. Also, it's Eels', but that's just cause I'm being a grammar dick today.
Geto Boys - Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta
Best lyrics ever:
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
A real gangsta-ass nigga plays his cards right
A real gangsta-ass nigga never runs his fuckin mouth
Cuz real gangsta-ass niggas don't start fights
And niggas always gotta high cap
Showin' all his boys how he shot em
But real gangsta-ass niggas don't flex nuts
Cuz real gangsta-ass niggas know they got em
And everythings cool in the mind of a gangsta
Cuz gangsta-ass niggas think deep
Up three-sixty-five a year 24/7
Cuz real gangsta ass niggas don't sleep
And all I gotta say to you
Wannabe, gonnabe, cocksuckin', pussy-eatin' prankstas
Cuz when the fry dies down what the fuck you gonna do
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
Feedin' the poor and hepin out wit they bills
Although I was born in Jamaica
Now I'm in the US makin' deals
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
I mean one that you don't really know
Ridin' around town in a drop-top Benz
Hittin' switches in my black six-fo'
Now gangsta-ass niggas come in all shapes and colors
Some got killed in the past
But this gangtsa here is a smart one
Started living for the lord and I'll last
Now all I gotta say to you
Wannabe, gonnabe, pussy-eatin' cocksuckin' prankstas
When the shit jumps off what the fuck you gonna do
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
A real gangta-ass nigga knows the play
Real gangsta-ass niggas get the flyest of the bitches
Ask that gangsta-ass nigga Little Jake
Now bitches look at gangsta-ass niggas like a stop sign
And play the role of Little Miss Sweet
But catch the bitch all alone get the digit take her out
and then dump-hittin' the ass with the meat
Cuz gangsta-ass niggas be the gang playas
And everythings quiet in the clique
A gangsta-ass nigga pulls the trigger
And his partners in the posse ain't tellin' off shit
Real gangsta-ass niggas don't talk much
All ya hear is the black from the gun blast
And real gangsta-ass niggas don't run for shit
Cuz real gangsta-ass niggas can't run fast
Now when you in the free world talkin' shit do the shit
Hit the pen and let the mothafuckas shank ya
But niggas like myself kick back and peep game
Cuz damn it feels good to be a gangsta
And now, a word from the President!
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
Gettin voted into the White House
Everything lookin good to the people of the world
But the Mafia family is my boss
So every now and then I owe a favor gettin' down
like lettin' a big drug shipment through
And send 'em to the poor community
So we can bust you know who
So voters of the world keep supportin' me
And I promise to take you very far
Other leaders better not upset me
Or I'll send a million troops to die at war
To all you Republicans, that helped me win
I sincerely like to thank you
Cuz now I got the world swingin' from my nuts
And damn it feels good to be a gangsta
-
The Residents - Blue Rosebuds
-
Crotchduster - Mammal Sauce
"Sliptoflappy rappy
And a carpal tunnel pudding flanker
Nabble and a stampy and a
Pigeon smelling generator
See a chitlin wafer and a
Chocolate buttered horses ass
Frabble obble abble and a
Stupid monkey chicken gas
Chinese diarrhea prison carpet
Chunky harplegig
Nopaliaseah perforated
Purple parkle pig
My mammal sauce is the best mammal sauce
I spread mammal sauce on my wang
We make mammal sauce in Bill William's loft
and we eat a bucket of taaaaaang WOOOAH YEAH"
*solos like a bitch*

next up, the Cranberries - Zombie
-
Liquid Tension Experiment- Acid Rain
-
Liquid Tension Experiment- Acid Rain
In that spirit, I just put on Universal Mind, to be followed up by 914, then Paradigm Shift, then Another Dimension, then Chewbacca, then Biaxident, then Instrumedley (sure it's DT, but it might as well be LTE), then Kindred Spirits. They are the best metal instrumentalists on the planet.
-
Tenacious D - Lee
I love the D.
-
Drudkh - Sunwheel
-
Agalloch - Kneel to the Cross
Give us our bread and bury our dead
And kneel to the cross on the wall
Whether burnt at the stake or drunk at the wake
Just kneel to the cross on the wall
We've original sin, but we might just get in
If we beg to the cross on the wall
It's rattle your sabre and love your neighbours
But kneel to that cross on the wall.
See the roof fall, hear the bells crash
As flesh and bone turn to ash
Tried to conquer the sun with a christian frost
The corpses' stench beneath the cross
Give them gold and they'll save your soul
And kneel to the cross on the wall
Hail to the boss of the great unwashed
And kneel to the cross on the wall
They wail and weep, the march of the sheep
As they go to the cross on the wall
And it's ever so wrong to dare to be strong
So kneel to the cross on the wall
-
Great song. I love the hypnotic chanting in the beginning.
-
If Khar and Merkava don't behave next time, there will be SO much rathe from your's truely....RATHE!!! So play nice kiddies, let's not make assumptions about people musical tastes and such. People who do that suck, for lack of a better word.
Anywho......Lambchop - Matchbook
-
*suck suck suck*
...you mean 'Wrath', right?
Aurora Borealis - After Forever
I've decided this cover is probably ironic. Or something. These guys even have a pentagram in their logo.
It's very good, whatever it is.
-
Hehe, yup, wrath. My spelling is sub-par, that's why I'm majoring in sciences. You know what I mean though, my intentions are good!
Mannequin - Take Me To The Club. Good ol' Party Monster soundtrack :)
-
Alkaline Trio - "Stupid Kid"
-

I just had images of some stereotyped Japanese guy making a table-leg.

I've been listening to the Eel's Blinking Lights and Other Revelations. Good shit, especially since there's no filler in all of that space.

The Fine Wrinkles, We Have All - Sweep The Leg Johnny
\m/ SAXAMAPHONE \m/

Right now... Carmina Burana, composed by Carl Orff...
Next...
The entirety of Der Ring des Nibelungen... Wagner's famous four part opera (complete with the Ride of the Valkyries \m/)
Oh man, I'm so hardcore!
-
Interesting enough, both of those composers (and especially the Carmina Burana piece) were exceedingly popular with Nazi Germany.
on topic:
Gordian Knot - A Shaman's Whisper
All of you Liquid Tension Experiment fans should check out Gordian Knot if you already haven't.
-
Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel - El Sobrante Fortnight
Folk Thrash about a fishing boat. WoO!
-
Interesting enough, both of those composers (and especially the Carmina Burana piece) were exceedingly popular with Nazi Germany.
Hahaha... don't worry. I'm of french-canadian/irish descent, and descidedly leftist (not to the point of communism, mid you)... It must be noted that Orff was against the Nazi Regime (well, at least he claimed to be, after the war :S)... and as for Wagner... I don't think he ever heard of Nazis... more influenced by the Norse Eddas and sagas than by german ultranationalism, I think.
But yeah, anyway... Wagner rocks!
-
Epic45 - River Traffic
-
But yeah, anyway... Wagner rocks!
Yes, and Orff does as well.
OT: Pest - Satanic Winter
-
Because of the emotional guitar solo thread, I cut off the Carmina Burana, and moved on to Rush's 2112... at part 6 now... almost the end... next up: The Who - all of Quadrophenia, provided I'm not interrupted again... ... ... then maybe some Wagner
-
Gordian Knot - A Shaman's Whisper
All of you Liquid Tension Experiment fans should check out Gordian Knot if you already haven't.
Have my children. Wait shit, we're both guys I think...
Mr. Bungle - The Girls Of Porn

Given that I claim mixed Anglo-Saxon and Celtic ancestry, I never quite know who to root for in this song.
"Covered with glory we conquered and settled our land - Wooooooah, Eng-a-land!"

Is it true that they got lost
in the pandemonium
Never to be seen again
Tom Warrior fell from a tree in cherry orchard
Martin Ain drowned in a cold lake
Reed St. Mark went to Mega Therion
and remains there 'till this day
Tom Warrior is waiting for the emperor's return
Martin Ain's trapped in the circle of tyrants
Reed St. mark was blinded in the crypt of rays
where he remains 'till this day

-
Venom - Bloodlust [Radio 1 Session]
Best intro to a song ever?
"Come on....TURN IT UPPPPPPPPPPPP...
MADNESS! *Insane solo*"
-
The best intro to a song ever is the first four notes of "Everything In Its Right Place" by Radiohead. Either that, or the "beep...beep...beep...beep..." at the start of Paranoid Android
-
Fanboy. XP
-
I wish I hadn't deleted those Radiohead tracks now, only so I could go back to Paranoid Android and be sure of just how much you were wrong.
Skyclad - Prime Evil [Venom Cover]
"Prime, the first evolutionary plan, that spawned the first ever Superstition of man,
God created every atom that lives, but was he really there at all?
Evil,in every satanic scroll,In different forms to every race and blacker than coal,
He doth destroy every atom that lives but is he really there at all?"
-
"beep...beep...beep...beep..." at the start of Paranoid Android
<3 Nice.
Iron&Wine - Woman King
-
I LOVE I&W's percussionist. Well, along with the rest of the musicians, of course.
When I heard that electric guitar on the final track, I was like "FUCK YEAH!"
-
The Anti-Nowhere League - So What?
"Well, I've drunk that,
and I've drunk this,
I've spewed up on a pint of piss!
So what? So what?
and I've had scag,
and I've had speed,
and I've jacked off until I bleed!
So what? So what?
So what so what you boring little cunt!
Who cares, who cares about you!?"
Fucking awesome track.
-
Radiohead's Hail to the Thief album. I've been missing it a bit lately, so I'm going Radiohead over-load for a bit.
-
Argh, sane dislike turns a bit more to unrelenting hate every time I see that name...
Arch Enemy - Stigmata
-
Argh, sane dislike turns a bit more to unrelenting hate every time I see that name...
Embrace your hate, Khar! It is the path to the dark side!
-
*Sigh* fine. Radiohead are boring, pathetic, over-rated tripe. I loathe the musical taste of anyone who considers listening to them for anything more than as an emetic. Even my mum hates them. Also, puppies and kittens. Grrrr.
Borknagar - The Genuine Pulse
-
Frou Frou - Let go
Wow, this is the first time I've posted here, I've refrained for quite a while it would seem...

This is apperantly my night of folk and slowcore (as much as I hate that term).
Mogwai - Christmas Steps

The Sugarcubes - Life's Too Good.
. . . Ooh! "Birthday" has just started! The day is all downhill from here.
-
Entombed - The Ballad of Hollis Brown
Bet you don't have this one :p
I don't, but a friend does... so I COULD get it... :P
-
Burzum - Han Som Reiste
Again.
It's just so fucking beautiful. There must only be, what, about 8 notes, two tracks, one synth. Not what you got, but how you use it.
-
Ice Cube - You Can't Fade Me
It's too early to go out and do anything or practice my bass, and I can't sleep. Cube to the rescue.
-
I can't sleep. Cube to the rescue.
Now there's a back-handed compliment if ever I heard one . . .
-
Oops. Of course I mean that in my sleep-deprived state the only man capable of entertaining me is the one and only Mr Ice Cube esquire. I don't want to get drive-byed here.
-
Burzum - Spell of Destruction
-
Billy Cobham - Anxiety / Taurian Matador
Tomi (Tommy?) Bolin on guitar playing thrash in 1973. Ahead of his time, and excellent at it. Killer keyboard player too. And of course, Cobham rocks the drums like a mother fucker.
Next ups: MC Honky - Hung Up
-
Mr. Bungle - NONE OF THEM KNEW THEY WERE ROBOTS.
Fucking Ace.

-
Bjork - Who Is It? (Vitalic remix)
I saw that at the store recently. How is it?
The Album Leaf - Thule
Quite the spiffy, in my estimation; most of her albums seem to deserve that particular adjective in my book. Purchase is recommended.
-
Paul Kelly: "From Little Things Big Things Grow", off Live, May 1992.
-
Xiu Xiu - I Broke Up
for some reason, his emotional porno doesn't really bother me, avantgarde are for yes :)
-
Talk Talk - New Grass
The hypnotic penultimate track from their final album, 'Laughing Stock'. I've only got into this band recently, after previously thinking they were just a standard 80's new-romantics band. But christ, their final 2 albums are amazing in every sense of the word.
-
Demise - Oath of Choas

*sigh* I'm just a poplet in a sea of indie.....
-
The Blood Brothers - Burn, Piano Island, Burn
-
Joy Division - Isolation
that's actually a pretty misleading name isn't it ;)
-
Nokturnal Mortum - The Taste Of Victory
-
@Khar: That Skyclad-song you have in your sig is called "History Lessens", isn´t it?
np: Iron & Wine - Southern Anthem
-
Leonard Cohen - Queen Victoria
"Queen Victoria,
the Twentieth Century belongs to you and me.
Let us be two severe giants not less lonely for our partnership
who turn up unwelcome at every World's Fair,
heavy with proverbs and corrections,
confusing the star-dazed tourists
with our incomparable sense of loss."
-
Iron & Wine - Freedom Hangs Like Heaven
finished...
Arcade Fire - Wake Up
finished...
Rocket From The Crypt - I'm Not Invisible (only the greatest band endorsed by Mitch Clem <3)
-
Death from Above 1979 - Black History Month
Decent music, I hear they are pricks though, which doesn't really surprise me...
but anyway I am going to bed, I bid you all a good day :)
-
*Sigh* fine. Radiohead are boring, pathetic, over-rated tripe. I loathe the musical taste of anyone who considers listening to them for anything more than as an emetic. Even my mum hates them. Also, puppies and kittens. Grrrr.
I guess I can understand. That's how I would describe The Decemberists. XP
I just can't see how Radiohead is boring if they completely reinvent themselves on every album.
-
Death from Above 1979 - Black History Month
Decent music, I hear they are pricks though, which doesn't really surprise me...
but anyway I am going to bed, I bid you all a good day :)
Same song... but the guys from DFA are awesome, and the most affable musicians ever... I met them once, in concert... yeah, met!
-
@Khar: That Skyclad-song you have in your sig is called "History Lessens", isn´t it?
As far as I'm aware, the version that's on Track 12 of Irrational Anthems is called 'History Lessons', whilst 'History Lessens' is the name of the stripped down remix on track 7 of 'Oui Avant-Garde A Chance'. I do only have those albums on mp3 admittedly, Skyclad albums being not the easiest things in the world to get hold of in the UK. I think dark lyrics agreed with the original mp3 when I was sorting out my Skyclad collection.
So it might well be.
Limbonic Art - Eve of Midnight
-
and by in the UK, you mean anywhere, right? I can't find anything. >_<
The Residents - ...Imaginary Jack (The actual title is like, 40 words long) Part 3.
-
Amon Armath-Fate of Norns--"The Fate of Norns"
Vikiiiingsss!
-
The full CD of "Extrapolation" by John McLaughlin. This is the most amazing first album by any artist ever. He was a virtuoso from his first fucking release, I swear...
Next Album: "California" by Mr. Bungle. I think it sounds best as an album.
-
and by in the UK, you mean anywhere, right? I can't find anything. >_<
In Greece, the only metal band that outsells them is Metallica. They're also pretty big in Germany and South America apparently.
If you're willing to try mail-order, all their albums are either on Noise/Noise International, Massacre Records or Demolition Records, as far as I remember. I'm always meaning to get around to it, but don't have ze funds atm. Folkemon and Semblance of Normality are distro'd by Nuclear Blast, so they should be really easy to get hold of.
Deathstars - Syndrome
-
Iron And Wine - My Lady's House
-
Pete Shelley - Better Off Without A Wife
A Tom Waits cover done extremely well. Uppity happy punk is the shit.
-
Now you see, I love folk music, but I thought all the Iron & Wine I downloaded was crap. Way too quiet, folk is not a genre to be suppressed and turned into yet more soul-less indie.
The Whisky Priests - Rime of the Not-So-Ancient Mariner
This song stands in proof of that.
-
Before i Forget ~ Slipknot
-
Morphine - I think she likes me
"She told me things about her life
she never told me she was someone's wife
man with a gun says: why you buy her a drink
I said I think she likes me that's what I think"
pure awesome :)

We Versus the Shark - I Am Your Idea.
-
Agalloch - Haunting Birds
-
So your crazy religion must be scientology, then.
That was a bit below the belt. But isn't scientology just about giving some rich guy even more money?

-
Nash the Slash - Swing-Shift (Soixante-Neuf)
He plays metalish stuff with a fucking electric mandolin! How much cooler can you get?
-
So your crazy religion must be scientology, then.
That was a bit below the belt. But isn't scientology just about giving some rich guy even more money?
Eels - Daisies of the Galaxy
Sorry... I didn't mean it to be. I won't go into my opinions on the cult that is Scientology. I do know that Beck has dodged questions about it and defended it, and that his father is heavily into it.

Where I live, the summer is a time to listen to the dumbest music ever written, and just be stupid. =points to her school's intercom, which was hijacked today= The seniors thought it would be funny to burn several recognizable songs by Devo, The Arrogant Worms, Men Without Hats, and A Flock Of Seagulls onto a CD and lock themselves in the main office.

Ewigkeit - Journey to Ixtlan
"I will leave, but the birds will stay singing, and my garden will stay, with it's green tree, with it's water well. Many afternoons the sky will be blue and placid, and the bells in the belfry will chime, as they are chiming this very afternoon. People who loved me will pass away, and the town will burst anew every year. But my spirit shall always wander, nostalgic, in the same recondite corner of my flowery garden."

Skyclad - The Sinful Ensemble
I really need to stop listening to quite so much fooking Skyclad. But I can't help myself!
"Ever wonder where the evil dead go?
There's a little place called the 'Nightmare Scenario'
Unliscensed establishment for former world powers,
Where the drinks are cheap, and it's open all hours!
Bonapartes on Brandy, he pours it down his throat,
Hitler sips a Pilsner as a he tells a racist joke,
Mussolini leers at Maggie serving at the bar,
Stalin's out the back he's trying to sell a dodgy motor car...
Dear god, above, if you exist
I hope you see the funny side of this
Now, don't get cross, don't bite your nails
Oh, son of man, your mission failed!"

Hmm, reminds me of Legendary Pink Dots for some reason. Or maybe for some reason my brain "heard" it as Edward Kaspell as I read it.
-
Skyclad lyrics are seven types of awesome.
Anal Cunt - Big Pants, Bigger Loser
-
That I can agree with.
Also I am listening to nothing. Damn this job.
-
Well, I was listening to Anorexia Nervosa - The Drudenhaus Anthem, yet you talked about Skyclad, so now I am listening to
Skyclad - Great Blow for a Day Job
Just a wierd little song about a banker who sells his soul to the devil so he can play in a fiddle band. I love the playful and positive slant on the whole thing.
"Here I am - your good friend Norman, not so humble anymore.
Others age - but I look younger, stronger that I did before.
I used to drive a Fiat Panda - now a lime green Cadillac.
Guess my story goes to show not all the 'devils' own' dig black.
I know there is a price I must pay for my thirty years misspent,
when my satanic manager recoups my soul (100%).
I'll meet him at the crossroads, midnight chimes - my time has come
to party with the 'porno-queens' down by the shores of Acheron.
I'll party on in Acheron!"
-
Tortoise - "Simple Way to Go Faster Than Light That Does Not Work"
...eh... and i used to think that Tortoise wasn't a pretentious band. still love them, though!
CDs in 3disc rotation on the playa:
Tortoise - TNT
Sigur Ros - ()
Boards of Canada - Twoism
...yeah, those three spend a lot of time in my stereo
-
Skyclad - Building a Ruin
"I've looked back on my time - the names and the faces,
A child long ago that I nearly forgot,
And felt like someone who'd just stepped on the place
where the last stair should have been - (then found it was not).
Life's just a process of delamination,
Stripping your hopes - dissecting them gently.
I've opened my heart - and to my consternation
when I peered inside it was small, dark and empty.
[Chorus]
My friends turn to me - wonder what I am doing,
drinking and smoking like somebody died.
I said "Leave me alone I'm just building a ruin,
The spirits are sunken - so the wreckage must rise."
I'm building a ruin - I ruin a building,
My bridges are burned out - my tunnels are filled in.
It's all a game I believe - the longer you play it the harder it gets.
The most I can hope to achieve now's my breakfast,
a priest with a blindfold and last cigarette..."
Un-necessary song-quotation ftw!

Bear Vs. Shark - 5, 6 Kids
-
The Beatles - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
The music the Beatles made while on drugs is 9 tiems better than the music they made while not on drugs. and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is the worst song ever.
-
Shape of Despair-Quiet these Paintings Are
-
Mörk Gryning - Tusen Ĺr Har Gĺtt
-
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is the worst song ever.
Why do I see that around? It's a mediocre song, but I want you to consider 3 points:
1: Avril Lavigne's cover of Chop Suey
2: The Billboard charts
3: Octopus's Garden
LOOK ON YE MIGHTY AND DESPAIR
Dead Can Dance - In Power We Entrust the Love Advocated
-
I just went and downloaded Octopus' Garden, and... it beats Ob La by quite a fair bit. Did Ringo write it? Cause that explains it.
I've never heard that cover, so I'll have to check it out.
While we're on the Beatles, I find the acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps to be massively better than the regular version.
-
Shhhhhh! I'm Listening To Reason by Gatsby's American Dream
I like this band.
-
The Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting for the Man (Live)
-
Morphine - Take Me with You

-

-
Bear Vs. Shark - Rich People Say Yeah Hey Hey
-
I just went and downloaded Octopus' Garden, and... it beats Ob La by quite a fair bit. Did Ringo write it? Cause that explains it.
Wrote it and sung it. Poor bastard should have kept to drumming and narrating Thomas the Tank Engine.
I've never heard that cover, so I'll have to check it out.
Hideous. You know how fast parts of that song are song? Miss Lavigne butchers them like a pro. It's live, admittedly, and at least she has the good grace to collapse into laughter and say "I am so fucking sorry" at the end. It still stands as definitely the worst cover version in the universe, as, unlike William Shatners version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, it is neither funny nor a cult classic.
While we're on the Beatles, I find the acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps to be massively better than the regular version.
That song is just a great song. Although, I gotta say my favourite version is probably the cover by the Jeff Healey Band. Is that heresy? Probably.
-
It's not like Ringo was a good drummer to begin with. I've heard stories of the band substituting drummers for most performances/recordings (I can't remember which one, but I'm betting on recordings).
-
Morphine - Candy
what a sleazy-sounding song, mind you I quite like it, but just take the chorus: "Candy says she made arrangements for me in the sand/Candy says she wants me with her down in Candyland"
but okay then there is also: "Candy asked me if she died/If I could go on
/Of course I said I couldn't/And of course we know that's wrong"
I have a major crush with Morphine at the moment by the way :)
-
Beastie Boys - Super Disco Breakin'
-
Architecture in Helsinki - "It'5"
I defy you to not like this song!
-
That song is just a great song. Although, I gotta say my favourite version is probably the cover by the Jeff Healey Band. Is that heresy? Probably.
No, heresy is the fact bloody Spineshank did a version. What the hell is a Nu Metal pile of crap doing trying to cover a song like that. And Khar, I second your enjoyment for the Jeff Healey cover as well.
As for above comment about the AiH song...I'm sure that was just ment to be towards Indie fans.
-
I hate AiH. Seriously.
And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead - Totally Natural
Man, Trail of Dead RULES. And here I thought Source Tags and Codes was a fluke. I really want to find their first album now, since Madonna is currently rocking my socks.
-
No, heresy is the fact bloody Spineshank did a version.
AAGGHGHGGGHGHGGHGHG
It isn't a guitar if it's strings don't come to a multiple of six. Fuck them, the horse they rode in on, the horses mother, the horses mothers legal owner, and all spouses, progeny, ancestors and descendents thereof.

Tori Amos - Professional Widow (Armand Van Helden Remix)
-
Inkubus Sukkubus - I Just Can't Get You Out of My Head (Kylie Minogue Cover)
Best re-working EVER.
"Can't get you out of my head
Got a devil here inside of me
Can't get you out of my head
The dead in Hell are calling me
Can't get you out of my head
As a razor tears into my flesh
Can't get you out of my head
When drowning in this misery
Every night, every day
Just to be there in your arms
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na na..."
-
Somehow, I just /can't/ see a Kylie Minogue song turned into death metal.
You listen to some /weird/ musics, Khar.
-
It's more a goth rock song, but yaaahr.
'tis gloomycool.

Metric--Succexy.
Metric is /such/ good morning music. It's funny, isn't it? Emily Haines is amazing. Metric, for instance. Good, energetic, sort of pseudo-new wave stuff. Then there's Broken Social Scene----completely different.
Emily Haines, whoo!

I don't think I've ever offered you a high five for music, but they're a first time for everything, Khar! YES!

-
Sufjan Stevens - Jacksonville
I think maybe I need a Sufjan Stevens album, gosh all that music and not nearly enough money... :(

I don't see why it should be the first time. My musical taste is awesome :P
Old Man's Child - Wounds From the Night of Magic
-
funny honey - the chicago soundtrack
-
I've always thought of Inkubus Sukkubus as industrial death metal. Then again, I've only ever heard them once.
Currently listening to the entire album of "Sailing the Seas of Cheese". Has anyone else ever noticed how immensly awesome the guitar solo on "Jerry was a Racecar Driver" is? It's awesome. Just finished "Sathington Waltz".

"Fish on, fish on"
-
Garbage - Push It
-
I've always thought of Inkubus Sukkubus as industrial death metal. Then again, I've only ever heard them once.
Industrial death metal with no overdrive, female vocals, keys and dulcimers?
You sure you're thinking of the right band?
-
Madison Scouts (a drum core) doing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
Next up, Cavaliers do The Planets, originally composed by Gustav Holst

-
=stares in shock= Khar....listens to the Pogues?
I think I may have a newfound respect for you.
-

They're on my 'punk etc. etc.' CD which I've nearly finished. ^_^

=whispers= I'm also trying to make a CD...of music that /won't/ scare my parents, as they already think I'm a nutbar. Suggestions?
-
Hmm, most of my music collection is bound to scare parents!
How about some nice Bob Dylan (All Along the Watchtower, Blowin' in the Wind, Ley Lady Lay, Quinn the Eskimo maybe?) Johnny Cash (Ring of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues, Boy Named Sue), Genesis (Dancing With the Moonlit Knight ftw!) and, um, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin? Everyone loves Black Dog or the Immigrant song.
:o and Thin Lizzy - The Boys are Back in Town, put that somewhere there :p
Stormtroopers of Death - Black War
"Don't free willy, I say kill him today!"
-
I feel almost like you're making fun of me.
-
I assure you no o_o
Oh, also, the Beatles. The Beatles haven't scared anyone since all the people born in the 19th century died off.
-
=snorts=
How about un-scary music that I might /like/? I'm trying so far to stick to really soft, cushy stuff. You know, I've got some radiohead, Broken Social Scene and stars((Okay, so I hid that one Skyclad song in there, too)), but yeah--my main goal is to not frighten them /and/ possibly enjoy the CD.
-
You don't like the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy or Led Zeppelin?
Are you feeling alright?
-
Maybe I'm just a little young, Khar.
=whispers= I'll be seventeen next friday. I like the /Beatles/, but that's about it from your list.
-
But I'm only 17 myself!
ummmmm...Blackmore's Night?
-
NO you're not. You're twenty-one, and scare everybody away.
=nods=
You /can't/ be seventeen.
-
Can't I?
That's gonna put a real damper on my planned 18th Birthday celebrations!
Amen - Bring Me the Heads
-
On that note--
Broken Social Scene---Anthems for a Seventeen-Year Old Girl
No, you /can't/ be seventeen. I forbid it.
-
Put mogwai - stanley kubrick, on there, and a drop of simon and garfunkel couldnt hurt. Embrace are also very good chilled out music that doesnt freak out the old folks. Oh, and the shins. Everybody likes the shins.
-
Do Make Say Think - Its Gonna Rain
When I was your kids age... I stopped listening to something when my mom said it was nice. Now I think she actually has expanded her musical tastes because of me, so I like it when I'm listening to something she likes.
The last cd I got she told me was good was the Gotan Project's La Revancha del Tango. Also try some (if you like it) Arcade Fire, Ben Folds, Dead Can Dance, The Postal Service, Tristeza... oh, and definately Morphine.
I started laughing like crazy when I was shopping with my mom once and she asked if she could "get some Morphine from me for the drive back home".
The look on the woman shopping nearby was priceless!
-
The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat.
I'm like Dora in that I'm not sure I really like it but it's so different I kind of feel like listening to it.
-
The Mountain Goats: "This Year", off The Sunset Tree. What an album. Catharsis is such a strange sensation . . .
-
Roots Manuva - Rebel Heart.
Hurrah for hip-hop.
-
The Mountain Goats: "This Year", off The Sunset Tree. What an album. Catharsis is such a strange sensation . . .
I'd say The Sunset Tree is their LEAST cathartic album to date. Even Tallahassee is harder and more unpredictable. :P
-
Well gees, it's a whole album about growing up with and surviving child abuse . . . How much catharsis do you want?
Anyway, it's the only one of theirs/his I have.
-
travis morrison - che guevara poster
-
The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat.
Hate them so much.
Epic45 - England Fallen Over
-
Xavier Rudd - No Woman No Cry
I love this version.
-
Super Furry Animals - Zoom!
Opening track to their new (and leaked) album.
-
M. Ward - Big Boat
This is really different than the rest of the music I listen to. I should get the whole album.
-
If that's the M Ward I'm thinking of then yes, you should.
Ben Kweller - On My Way
-
I know I was the last person to post here but: Ryan Adams - Let It Ride.
Because it's so awesome.
-
I just threw in the Futureheads album this morning, and I've been listening to it for the past couple hours. I have to be in the mood for it, but when I am it's great.
-
Smashing Pumpkins boot from sometime in 1991. accoustic, good stuff.
-
Do Make Say Think - Fredericia
-
The new Facing New York ecard. Full Turn, Styrofoam Walls, Apple Sugar Cider, and Cutting My Hair all on repeat. :)
-
Halo of Flies - Deathcrush [Genocide on the Dance Floor Version]
-
Sorten Muld - Margjit
possibly the best electronica band we have had in Denmark, fusing techno with lyrics from medieval songs are pretty inventive if you ask me. Also yeah other motherfuckers might done it before, that changes nothing, I tell you, nothing!
;)
also
Do Make Say Think - Fredericia
Fredericia is actually a town in Denmark, where decendants from french huguenaus live, because they were kicked out of France. Fredericia even sounds french, in my ears anyway. They played there a while ago I think...
-
Elton John- Madman Across The Water
-
Halo of Flies - Nostalgia
-
Magnolia Electric Co. - The Dark Don't Hide It
-
Ben Harper - Steal My Kisses
-
Miles Davis - Orange
Hurray for fusion-jazz with John McLaughlin and a bunch of Norweigans.
-
Concerto Moon - Find The Key
-
Halo of Flies - Solar Symphony
I can't believe I made most of this in a night.
-
Halo of Flies - Solar Symphony .
Yeah, I actually actively listen to Khar's music because I like it. And when you've got stuff like this...the space nerd in me just has to love it.
-
The Postal Service---Such Great Heights
(psssst.... teh Aph needs a filesharing system that won't kill her computer. Suggestions?)
-
Tomohawk -Jockstrap
I <3 mike patton so much
-
Sopor Aeternus and the Ensemble of Shadows - Holy Water Moonlight
Sopor Aeternus is one of only a couple of Vampire Angst bands I still listen to on a regular basis. And that's because the imagery and metaphor here is so much more intelligent than, say, Theatres Des Vampires.
-
Gorillaz- Feel Good Inc.
this song makes me feel like dancing
-
hedwig and the angry inch soundtrack
-
Leftover Crack - Atheist Anthem
It's so wierd how Leftover Crack's vocalist just occasionally starts going into black metal screams.
-
Tomohawk -Jockstrap
I <3 mike patton so much
Word, normz. You win. My gf is getting me Tomahawk at Amoeba today. After listening to all the Bungle and Fantomas, I am excited immensly. The Tomahawk project just has the one CD, right?
Tom Waits - In The Colosseum
*EDIT* PS. To Khar: "Ya might be a skinhead, ya might be a punk. Just give us a quarter so we can get drunk"
-
ummmm Tomohawk have two cd's that I know of; the first one is self-titled and the other more recent cd I have is called Mit Gas and both are infinitely brilliant!
Oh and atm it's A Perfet Circle - Sleeping Beauty
-
Skyclad - Schadenfreude
NAZI FUCKING VAMPIRES
"Moonlit faces - ghostly white
Robed in midnight leather
Death - heads adorn their necks
But they have lived forever.
Malign, nocturnal predators
In search of human cattle
Drawn toward their anguished cries
Drowned by machine gun rattle.
Compassionless as mortals die
They feed as we lie sleeping
To our otherworldly overlords
We are a harvest for the reaping.
He said "Hush my child, please don't fight
Your faith is no salvation
Which is worse - a fatal kiss
Or slow asphyxiation?
I must eat so you must die
This is the natural order
Lambs to the slaughter."
Huddled in their barbed wire pens
These frightened rabbits cower
What shortlived comfort daylight brings
The jaws of night devour
Shadowed by their twisted cross
They take their seats to dine
Gorge themselves upon the blood
Of the last of Davids line
While outside in the frosty dawn
Cold sentries dare not wonder why
When daybreak brings the reveille
Their officers in slumber lie?
She cried "Holy Father save the children
Of your chosen nation
From the dead that walk this earth
(living abominations)
We cannot fight what can't be killed
Only the strong survive...
And evil never dies."
-
Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
-
YES YES. Mit Gas. I almost got that, and then the store guy was like: No, it's not in stock after all. And I wanted to break him.
Liquid Tension Experiment - Biaxident
-
Well gees, it's a whole album about growing up with and surviving child abuse . . . How much catharsis do you want?
Anyway, it's the only one of theirs/his I have.
Uh...catharsis means an explosion of pure emotion. I don't know what kind of definition you're using. This record is calm, collected, and meticulous. If you consider The Sunset Tree catharctic, I have a whole mess of Death Cab albums to show you. ;D
Mock Orange - This Nation
That riff reminds me so much of Black Dog.
-
I doubt most people get the title 'Black Dog'.
Skyclad - The Disenchanted Forest
"All who would one flower destroy,
Must first cut down this Didycoy!"
-
=sings= Pan-da pan-da pan-da pan-da pan, bing bing!
Wow, you can even /tell/ I'm a freak by the music. I don't care.
Deerhoof FTW.
-
Children of Bodom - Silent Night, Bodom Night
*Air guitar solos*
-
In near constant rotation:
Death From Above 1979's You're A Woman, I'm A Machine
Louis XIV's The Best Little Secrets Are Kept (when I'm feeling saucy)
Electric Six's Fire
and
The Decemberists' Castaways And Cutouts
mmm, mmm good.
-
Skyclad - Polkageist!
"A spirit sent to haunt you,
Taunting all your earthly days,
Satyrs vaunt, cavorting
To the reels Cernunnos plays,
I head our wild procession,
Every beast from man to mouse,
Finds freedom in possession,
POLKAGEIST IS IN THE HOUSE!"
-
Rheostatics--Little Bird, Little Bird
=sings=
How hard the sun, little bird, little bird?
How deep the winter freeze?
How strong am I--missing words, missing words--
To tell you how scared I feel?
Of an artist's fake,
Or a sadist's rake,
Scars on a teenage girl,
But a slow parade for the price we paid,
To walk with me, walking through the wicked world. Okay.
Unusual music, to be sure. Nice once in a while.
-
Major Stars-Hardly Mention
-
Orbital-Bath Time.
Next up: Smith&Mighty-Bass is Maternal.
Side note: Every time -- every freaking time -- they've announced a show that I can make, they've cancelled because of some damn thing happening in Europe. What's so great about Europe anyway?
--Moiche

-
Halo of Flies - The Sound When Stars Explode

Woo! Cheesy local (Well, not really, CO, but they're my friend's brother's band) hardcore music!
-
The Lucksmiths - "Sunlight in a Jar"
Complex, completely credible love - the kind that is made, not handed to you from above - is difficult to talk about and harder to write, like the rhythm of a pulse, or the contours of firelight. Overblown libretto and a sumptuous score could never contain the contradictions I adore. We can just be chaos and then something aligns. It's hard to attain, maintain it or define it.
-
Shadows Fall - What Drives The Weak
Hanzel und Gretyl - Blut! Sex! Fire!
-

the truth.
Mock Orange - Untitled (This Nation)
My favorite part of the lyrics:
"Who's the cannon?/Gotta have that macho rock and roll/Who's gonna sing the songs to smash your face to?/We don't need them anymore"
-
Don't laugh at me.
For listening to such a great track? Never. If someone does, they've either never heard it, are a Black Metal Elitists or they're jealous the bands they like can't play those wonderful shred solos.
-
Stratovarius - Paradise
also, thank you Robbo
-
Daughters - Hello Assholes
As it is often the case with grindcore songs, the song's actually over while typing this post, so...

Stormtroopers Of Death - "Sargent "D" & The S.O.D."
Works rather well with these awesome headphones I've just borrowed. There are worse ways to go deaf, I suppose...
-
The Fiery Furnaces- Quay Cur
-
Brudevalsen - These Tragedies
danish up-coming metal band, mostly their name that caught my eye, since it is danish for the Wedding Waltz. And I guess Robbo's thread inspired to check one of the genres I dislike, the others being R'n'B(in the modern sense) and hip hop(in general anyway). I am pretty confident that the thing that hinders me in liking is the vocals. I like the music, but I can't say I like growl, it's crude and often unvoluntary silly, I guess the term is I am not feeling it man. But thumbs up for having a Tom Waits cover :)
plus can anyone name some "essential" metal(that includes all those weird sub-genres) tracks, I am feeling adventurous ;)
-
It's generally the most common thing people dont like about Metal, is the vocals used in more extreme styles. I know several people that like things like even Brutal Death Metal...just not the growling. Though I do have to point out there is lots of Metal that uses clean vocals and there are large numbers of classically and operatically trained singers in Metal.
Xasthur - Moon Shrouded in Miser

Super Dave, if you're ever looking for new Metal stuff, we should talk man.
Speak, I say!

-
The Exploited - Chaos Is My Life
-
Muddy Waters - You Shook me
Sometimes listening to blues hits the spot.
-
Pendulum & The Freestylers - Fasten Your Seatbelts
Track this track down if you like electronica of any kind. It's breaks more than anything, but it has what may be the funkiest, most get-your-foot-tapping-despite-yourself hook I've heard since Kelis - Trick Me.
-
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy: Ease Down the Road. Most criminally underrated Will Oldham album ever.
-
Hellhammer - The Third of the Storms
-
The Epoxies - Bathroom Stall

That's me. That cookie-monster stuff really keeps me out of that extreme in metal. Power metal is another story.
\m/ IRON MAIDEN \m/

Elvis Costello- Oliver's Army
-
Badly Drawn Boy - The Further I Slide.
Yay for the above Radiohead avatar!

Halo of Flies - Endless Pagan Forests
Me with a bodhran, a couple of big sticks, a gas mask, some knives, a pitch-shifted harmonica and a drum machine.
-
Burmese - Headmaster
Two drummers, two bassists, heavily distored screaming, lots of feedback, no song structure, no melody, no cohesion, just utter fucking destruction and hate.
-
The Decemberists - The Mariner's Revenge Song
I do love Picaresque album. I think it is unique and ground breaking.
-
Indeed, a lot of critics think it's where Decemberists definitely shook the Belle & Sebastien & Neutral Milk Hotel comparisons. It is brilliant, and Mariner's Revenge live is one of my favorite live songs ever (they drag it out for about 20 minutes and encourage audience participation . . . shhhh . . . the band is sleeping).
Currently listening: Shins - Kissing the Lipless.

OH DEAR GOD. THE DECEMBERISTS ARE NOT GROUNDBREAKING OR UNIQUE.
I am SO tired.

OH DEAR GOD. THE DECEMBERISTS ARE NOT GROUNDBREAKING OR UNIQUE.
I was going to try to maroon it for falsehood (get it . . . ) but alas, couldn't color the little words. Be glad to continue this conversation in another thread.

Decemberists have kinda cool lyrics, but well, if I want that kind of stuff...
Skyyyyyyyyclaaaaaaaad!
Skyclad - Polkageist!
"Arms of ivory strummed perfection
summoned me towards the middle.
Pan warmed up his pipes,
heard Herne a plucking at the fiddle.
She wrapped herself about me
(felt her hot breath at my ear);
Danced a horizontal polka
down the path to Hell I fear.
We're on a path to Hell I fear!
[Chorus]
Her rhythm pounced upon me
it trounced me in a trice.
That charm she wove about me
gripped me tight as any vice.
(She spoke in tongues above me).
Though I cast my eyes to Christ,
you'd need the virtue of a saint
to not succumb and overcome this
Polkageist!
The Horny Huntress:
"A spirit sent to haunt you
taunting all your earthly days.
Satyrs vaunt
cavorting to the reel Cernunnos plays.
I head our wild procession
(every beast from man to mouse),
finds freedom in possession
Polkageist is in the house!"
Juice of fruit beyond forbidden
dripping slowly from her fingers,
she took my hand and led me
to that place where cunning lingers."
This track always comes up when I try and explain to people why paganism rocks the arse off Judeochristian religions.

You are an /odd/ one, Khar.
I'm listening to the radio, which has treated me to

Summer Overture - Clint Mansell
-
Destroyer - The Bad Arts
Interesting choice of name for a band that sounds more like Hunky Dorey-era David Bowie than Iron Maiden. XP
Besides, Dan Bejar is a mad lyricist.
-
Though it's been said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, I'm quite certain that this is not what was meant.
Skyclad is my anti-drug.
Skyclad - Catherine at the Wheel
"Her face caught in the headlamp glare,
There waiting for a ride.
Stood all alone - so far from home,
He beckons her inside.
A smile that has two meanings -
slips his fat hand to her knee,
But swiftly learns how quick to turn this woman scorned can be.
Her flesh was all he wanted -
But his blood was what she got,
And did he dream of scenes x-rated
when she showed him Salem's lot?
Now the hunted is the hunter
with a heart as cold as steel,
See the empty rear view mirror showing
Catherine at the wheel.
Down in the park - just after dark,
Girl crying 'neath a tree.
Begs "Can you help please mister?
- mummy left and forgot me."
"My, you're out late my dear" exclaims the shabby, strange old man,
Who hidden in the bushes finds a lion in his lamb.
She's a killer with a conscience -
and a bite too sharp to feel,
This child sat on the roundabout is Catherine at the wheel.
And if you could you'd kill them twice -
How sweet revenge can be,
'Gainst those you've sent to that place with no fury next to thee.
Her flesh was all they wanted -
but their blood was what she got,
And did they dream of scenes x-rated
when she showed them Salem's lot?
She's a killer with a conscience -
and a heart as cold as steel,
She's the hunter not the hunted -
with a bite too sharp to feel.
Her flesh was all they wanted -
but their blood was what she got,
And did they dream of scenes x-rated
when she showed them Salem's lot?
Catherine's at the wheel."

Boooooo to angry lesbians making bad rock.
The Ditty Bops - Wishful Thinking
Yaaaaaay to cool lesbians making happy folk-swing with terrific lyrics:
Why does blood turn brown when it dries?
Why do the tears well up in your eyes?
Why didn't I learn to ride my bike
When it was warm and sunny outside?
Why can't little kids tie their shoes?
Why can't the white people play the blues? <----- (I just need to point out how much ASS THIS KICKS!)
Why can't I fall in love with you?
It must be because of the seasons.
When the leaves start falling from the trees;
When the birds start flirting with the bees;
When the wind starts blowing from the East to the West;
Maybe you'll be the one that I like best.
Clouds start forming I can't complain
'Cause I think we might be in need of some rain.
When it starts pouring
Don't hide away without me.
I bought an umbrella big enough for two
But it feels pretty empty under here without you.
Dry as a bone but I'm still alone
I'm so gray.
When you're standing in a puddle with wet feet;
And your head is sore from pounding drops of sleet;
When the cold and lonely hours put your heart to the test;
Maybe I'll be the one that you like best.
If the sky can open its eyes
And cry from up above,
Let's shed some tears of joy
And fall in love.

Talking Heads - Don't Worry About the Government

I always liked Therion more than Symphony X. Mainly because of the vocals. Therion have insanely awesome vocalists. They're also pretentious enough to mark lietmotifs on their lyrics sheets. I mean, come on!
Therion - Three Ships of Berik pt.1: The Calling to Arms and Fighting the Battle
This track is so worth it because of the way the introduction makes it explicit that they identify themselves as spiritual descendents of the 'Gothic spirit':
"Gather all the Gothic tribes, all the sons of Berik
On three ships you sail away...on a pagan crusade!
Tyrants of the christian world fear you more than their God
Theoderik, gothic King: "Gog iste gothus est“
The flashing spear of the sublime
Is flying in the air
Like the fear of the divine
The goths are everywhere!"
Oooh, and now it's Therion - Carmina Burana.
Jeez I love this version.
