My nominations: Northern Exposure and Homicide: Life on the Street (best cop show ever made). Why do I scan the T.V. guide and see endless Simpsons and Seinfeld repeats and crappy reality T.V. shows, when these two brilliant programmes languish in the vaults?
-
I would love to see another series of "Ultraviolet" (http://www.world-productions.com/wp/content/shows/other/uv/uvhome.htm), a modern UK vampire thingy, it was awesome, the last good thing I saw on UK TV before opting out entirely (apart from catterick (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/tv/catterick.shtml) :) ). Another Neverwhere (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115288/) would also be cool.
-
Another vote for Ultraviolet, here... I can remember how annoyed I got when that got canned.
-
I move that Invader Zim be brought back to life! That, and that 90s sci-fi show sliders. Both awesome and underappreciated, and now cancelled. Why oh why are Tv people so ignorant when it comes to good shows?
-
Wonderfalls!
It's a shame the campaign to get the show on DVD wasn't enough to spark a second chance for the series (ala Family Guy). It's even worse now that they revealed on the commentaries what they would have done for season 2+3 had they not been cancelled.
There was rumor that they might be able to jumpstart a Wonderfalls movie (ala Serenity), but everyone's moved on to other things and the more time passes the less likely it will ever happen.

GREG THE BUNNY
EDIT: And they need to start airing Ruroni Kenshin again.

Futurama.

Damn, they cancelled Sliders? BUT THAT SHOW WAS SO GOOD.
-
Khar, it lost steam once Fox dropped it. The whole "Cromaggs" stuff was pretty lame IMO. I don't care if it was Roger Daltrey who introduced them.
Highlander was awesome to me. Then there was Space: Above and Beyond, Earth 2, Profiler (before the redhead took over), Pretender....
*sigh* this is why I had no social life.
-
GREG THE BUNNY
That show was really disturbing....
-
if by disturbing you mean AWESOME!
...which i'm sure you do :)
-
Khar, it lost steam once Fox dropped it. The whole "Cromaggs" stuff was pretty lame IMO. I don't care if it was Roger Daltrey who introduced them.
Did they ever even finish the Cro-mags arc?
-
Downtown was an ace show. Just as i was getting into it, it was cancelled.
-
They should bring back Freakylinks, Twin Peaks, and most definitely Sliders. I watched that show religiously. Oh, and they should bring back Remington Steel.
-
i'm more concerned about terrible shows they should remove
-
Friday the 13th the Series
Tales from the Darkside
Clerks
Quantum Leap
-
The new series of the Fugative. They left it on such a cliffhanger!
(In my defense it was on at 4 in the morning during a time when I was suffering chronic insomnia, but damn it was still addictive!)
-
I have to agree with Clerks: The Cartoon. I really wanted to see an episode where Randall bought K.I.T.T. and then K.I.T.T. tried to kill him to take his job. (This is was from the DVD commentary where they mentioned ideas for the rest of the season had they been picked up.)
-
Babylon 5-- I miss reruns on SciFi :(
-
i'm more concerned about terrible shows they should remove
The awesome shows would replace the terrible ones, so the two go hand-in-hand!
-
Mission Hill and Titus

The funny thing is I got burned out on Norther Exposure yet I can still watch and find amusement in Simpsons episodes I can practicaly quote the whole episode.
I will have a big ass party once CSI metaphorical bloated corpse is in the grave.
Also it seems Space Ghost Coast to Coast has been pulled off the air. I imagine this is to drive up sales of the DVDs.
And The Adventures Of Pete & Pete. Man that show was awesome from what I can remember. (WHAT?)
-
The funny thing is I got burned out on Norther Exposure yet I can still watch and find amusement in Simpsons episodes I can practicaly quote the whole episode.
The thing that annoys me is that Channel 10, which screened Northern Exposure here about 10 years ago, shows the Simpsons and Seinfeld over and over and over and over again, not to mention endless repeats of the various Law & Order series, but it's never once re-screened Northern Exposure.
-
Voting for Greg the Bunny. Northern Exposure is great, they should at least show eps., but the show ran it's course.
How about Kids in the Hall.
-
Futurama.
EXACTLY!
-
Futurama has already come back (In a way), there's going to be a Direct to Video movie.
-
Has anyone mentioned "The Adventures Of Pete & Pete" yet? If not, what is wrong with you?!
QFE. Along with Zim! Nickelodeon, after the three times you've cancelled it, a bunch of Psuedo gothy kids flamed you to put it back, and you kept cancelling it! just keep it already!
-
A-Team.

Are you people staring at me?
-
if by disturbing you mean AWESOME!
Haha, thats exactly what i meant!
-
i move that JCV get his own series on Adult Swim. doin whatever, it'll probably be hilarious.
Other than that, futurama gets another voet.
-
Oh man, Titus was good. that was a good show, there. and he's a good comedian. too bad about that show.
-
Dilbert - I can't remember what the last episode was, but the last one I saw was the one where the Gruntmaster created a blackhole. I totally forgot what happened next.
Boy Meets World - Been watching reruns of it, yet it I believe it "Jumped the Shark" (There is a Wikipedia article listing shows which "Jumped the Shark" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_shows_that_are_widely_considered_to_have_jumped_the_shark )
I also liked Greg the Bunny. That should be brought back...
-
homicide: life on the street was definitely a fantastic show. i was so sad when it finished it's running.
how about batman with adam west. those would be fantastic repeats!! maybe i'm living in a hole, but i haven't seen them since i was like 7 years old.
-
Brimstone
Firefly
Invisible Man
Clone High
Carnivale
Angel
Wonderfalls
Invader Zim
Futurama
Farscape
-

Ah. The fact that while it was (and for awhile after it wasn't) practicaly everyone around here was over zealous over Northern Exposure due to it being filmed here. Ugh, Law & Order.
Honestly as much as I like Zim I wouldn't want Vasquez doing something he's sick of and putting out crap. Maybe Roman Dirge could take it over though, he seems more capable of dealing with that sort of crap plus he did write a handful of episodes
-
Oh man, just remembered Rocko's Modern Life! Still is one of my favourite Nickolodean cartoons. Doug was pretty cool on there as well.
-
Farscape: Woo! At least they finished it SOMEWHAT with the whole peacekeeper wars thing...
Khar: I wish I could tell you. After they changed Mallory and he was this whole Superman baby then I lost all taste for it. And Sabrina Lloyd Pwn3d Kari Wuhrer. I think there was some super huge weapon to destroy them all... don't know if they got it.
-
Why is it that only one person on this thread has mentioned Firefly?
If nobody else has watched it, you REALLY missed out. Hie thee to the video store and by the series box set, forthwith!
-
Thinking waaaay back i remember a bunch of good ol nick shows (and other ones) that need to be back.
The ORIGINAL All That- The new cast blows
Roundhouse- Loose scripts+constant flow+breakdancing=fuckin great.
Angry Beavers- One of the strangest and best executed show ideas EVAR
Quantum Leap- I have seasons 1&2 boxed, if you dont, go get them NOW.
Futurama- Because its awesome, why else?
Greg the Bunny- Just needed time to catch on, it was hilarious. I mean come on, a show with live puppets? How can you get funnier?
REN AND STIMPY- The funniest show ever on TV. If you disagree, i will fight you to the death.
-
I can only think of one show I want back, Bonkers from that Disney Show, that was awesome. Besides that nothing really, there are no good series in Denmark, though Katjakaj and Bentebent is fun, it's a show for kids but it's really creepy and weird, just their names are fucked up. Its a female name and male name slammed together, Katja and Kaj, Bente and Bent.
And then it just gets strange..
-
I can't believe no one has said Freaks and Geeks.
It's been too long now, all the actors have grown up too much or gotten too famous, but I would give my left nut to change history and just let there have been a second season back in 2000-2001.
oon the DVD, they talk about about what they would have done in season two, and it included more punk rock. I believe this to be the only TV show in history to accurately portray a character getting into punk.
-
Also, MST3K
-
Roundhouse- Loose scripts+constant flow+breakdancing=fuckin great.
Angry Beavers- One of the strangest and best executed show ideas EVAR
You remember Roundhouse? I love you.
Also, Angry Beavers was awesome.
I think they should do a fifth season of Mr. Show. Because really, it's not like they're all super busy. Except David Cross is a bit.
I was thinking about Northern Exposure, and then I stopped and thought about how much I used to love the Young Indiana Jones. And Power Rangers. And Doogie Howser.
But you know what show I really loved, and they went and cancelled? The American Touching Evil. Stupid USA network...
-
Newsradio...but now with phil gone I don't know, though the last season was still funny.
-
Oh! Oh! Do Over!
-
FOOLY COOLY.
ALSO COWBOY BEBOP.
Pwned.
-
Yes, those as well.
-
Y'know, looking back, I realize that for everything that was absolutely terrible aboout the 90s (backward hats, boy bands, spice girls, neon clothing, etc.), the decade had damn good television. Nickelodeon and the Sci-fi channel both hit their peaks, and have fallen a long way since. Also, Mr. Rogers was still around.
I think they need to re-animate Mr. Rogers' corpse.
"It's a beautiful day in the neighboorhood, won't you BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIINS"
-
That was pretty much his last 2 years anyway.
-
UNDECLARED. I've been saying this for years.
That and Freaks and Geeks.....and Project Runway.
-
SportsNight.
Also, Mr. Rogers Zombie is REALLY funny.
-
Quantum Leap.
And it is.
So that's good.
-
Futurama
The Tick
Spaced - yes i know it's not been canceled just Simon Pegg and Jessica Simpson have stopped writing it, but damn it I want more.
(Begining to realise i think 90% of my posts in the movies, tv shows, and books section have mentioned Spaced)
-
UNDECLARED. I've been saying this for years.
The episode where russel got a fever and was acting like a dolphin was Brillaint. Also, they had Will Ferrel way before he was cool.
Bring it BACK!
-
Another Neverwhere (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115288/) would also be cool.
Actually, I believe Gaiman was planning to make at least another story in the Neverwhere universe. And he better should be. It's such a wonderfull and potent world. Especially with characters like the Marquis and Croup and Vandemaar.
Also, I demand for the return of Farscape and the continuation of Carnivale. But then, who am I? :]
-
The Tick
DUP-DWEEEEE DUP-DUP-DUP DWEE-DOW!
The Tick had the coolest theme song evar.
-
UNDECLARED. I've been saying this for years.
That and Freaks and Geeks.....and Project Runway.
Wow, You're the first person I've known who actually remembers freaks and geeks and wants it back. I liked that program too. I heard it rated bad in the US and thats why they cancelled it. It was so much better than all the other trash that we get here... *sniff*
-
Pretender....
Quoted for emphasis.
Also, I'd like to see "Whose Line Is It Anyways?" get off the ground again..for the third time. (And actually stay up.) The network just doesn't seem to want to air consistant seasons of new shows, which sucks.
-
and Project Runway
Theres a new season starting in the fall eh. Dont ask me why i know.
-
I can't believe no one has said Freaks and Geeks.

My favorite show of all time. The character of Bill Haverchuck is about as close to comidic gold as you can get.
-
UNDECLARED. I've been saying this for years.
That and Freaks and Geeks.....and Project Runway.
undeclared Comes out on DVD in a couple weeks. includes a never aire episode. I think I might be picking it up.
-
FUTURAMA
[/the obvious]
-
I agree with MST3K, Invader Zim, The Tick...and other stuff, also I don't know if Arrested Development is coming back or not, but if not, I demand it be brought back right now
-
Y'know, looking back, I realize that for everything that was absolutely terrible aboout the 90s (backward hats, boy bands, spice girls, neon clothing, etc.), the decade had damn good television.
So, why is it we still have all that shit in one form or another, and no good TV?
-
I agree with MST3K, Invader Zim, The Tick...and other stuff, also I don't know if Arrested Development is coming back or not, but if not, I demand it be brought back right now
I do believe it is. And there's reruns on Fox tonight, too.
-

NO FREAKIN' WAY! I've been ranting about it been cancelled for about 5 years now! Sean, it made me happy to hear that I'm not the only one that totally loved that show!
Also, Freaks and Geeks was never shown in Canada, as far as I know, I just downloaded episodes because I heard about the show and wanted to check it out. Me friend and I are pitching in and buying the season dvds. I should tell her about Undeclared, she'll plotz.
-
Best buy has it listed at 35 bucks, which is a relief cuase the Freeks and geeks DVDs where like 60 when they first came out.
-
*GLEE*
The main guy used to be on this Canadian show called Popular Mechanics for Kids with Alisha Cuthbert (sp?) from 24 when I was like 10. That show was awesome.
-
God, the Devil and Bob
I still can't believe that show ran for exactly one episode and they pulled it off even before the after hours repeat.
The original Muppet Show
The Galloping Gourmet
MST3K
-
I suggest that we leave the dead in their graves so as not to ruin their memories.
-
Mysterious cities of Gold. Just so I can see if it is actually as awesome as I remember.
-
FOOLY COOLY.
ALSO COWBOY BEBOP.
Pwned.
Don't bring back CB
It's perfect as it is. No need to ruin it with a below par second series.
-
Invader zim
Roruni Kenshin
Bleach
Chobbits
Sailormoon
Inuyasha: Yes I know it's not cancled but dammit it's on at 12:30 so I can't watch it!
Case closed: Ditto but it's on at like 4 in the morning!
-

We're not necessarily talking making new episodes, though - when I started this thread I was thinking specifically of great shows that never ever get repeat screenings.

hehehe
I have the boxset ;)
-
I've seen the entire thing through terrible means. I bought the movie though, does that make me a less terrible person?
Edit: Missplaced commas make baby Jesus cry.
-
I liked Keen Eddie...
I'm also thirding Undeclared and Clerks.
-
I really liked the series 'Touching Evil'... partly because Peter Wingfield was in the first few episodes.
-
Peter Wingfield was in a lot of shows that I loved and never get to watch anymore: Highlander, Touching Evil, Bliss...
Oh, I'm adding Bliss to my list of shows, because I loved my Canadian almost porn. Skinny, pale naked men.
And Mash. It's not like FX needs to show cops that often, they could put it back on.
-
ALSO COWBOY BEBOP
I don't know, the story seemed sort of finished to me, so I'm not sure whether that would make sense.
Apart from that: Futurama, first and foremost. But we might even get it back, there might be a straight-to-DVD movie.
Also, Invader Zim. I mean, I understand why it was cancelled (actually, the same reason Futurama was cancelled - it's not a show for kids), but goddamn, we need more of Ziiiiim!
Also Angry Beavers and Freakazoid.
-
O god Freakaziod I miss him like soo much!
-
Fraggle Rock, Fred Penner, Today's Special. need i say more?
-
O god Freakaziod I miss him like soo much!
So do I. At least I have every episode on my computer. ... Actually, as a matter of fact, of the all the series I listed, I either have the all DVDs or the eps on my comp.
I have too much free time.
-
*runs around in her PJ's*
Nurrr nurrr!
About Fraggle Rock... well I watched the show but never really liked it...
Who else misses Mr.Rogers?
Rest In Peace dear neighbor...
-
Haha, my friend Megan flippppeddd out when i mentioned that Mr. Rogers had died. This was like a year after too. She was like genuinely upset. Kinda funny.
-
ANGEL.
I win.

this thread is cool, i am a nerd and i join with the futurama fans. Fox made me want to eat my own head out of sheer frustration when that show got cancelled. Luckily i've downloaded pretty much every episode and in a fit of misplaced corporate loyalty bought the first season dvd box set as well. It would be amazing to see more freaks and geeks but as previously stated the actors would be way too old now to pull it off. I think it suffered because it was too shmaltzy to be cool for some people and too cool to be shmaltzy for others. I liked it though, thought it had healthy doses of both cheese and genuinely great storylines. Check out the filesharing program bearshare for pretty much all the episodes - thats where i got em :)
-
I liked Keen Eddie...
I'm also thirding Undeclared and Clerks.
I....I....I think I might love you. And I barely watch tv. I miss Futurama, but it was starting to get a bit too sappy at the end of its days. Still, it should come back. I also never saw Invader Zim on television since they don't play it here, I downloaded the episodes or dvds. Either way, more episodes, plzkthnx.
