Title: Teh Good Ole Days
Post by: Maui on 04 Aug 2005, 16:15
Someones avatar of 80s TV shows sparked my interest in this. What shows were you all addicted to when you were little?

I was in love with Rainbow Brite and Care Bears. (what can i say, i was a little girl) I was also in that terrible generation that watched Power Rangers, but i can honestly say i dont remember watching it after a yr or so. While flipping through channels, i noticed Boy Meets World on the guide. Holy wow i loved that show so much. On second thought, this thread is ruining any respect people had for me............eh oh well.

I, er, watched Star Trek with my mom. The storylines seemed a lot more complex then.
EDIT: I also danced to the music in the beginning credits.

I was a total nick whore as a little kid. I watched anything that network would throw at me.

And Tales From the Crypt. Because we had HBO, and my parent's trusted my brother to be a good babysitter. I still get a little freaked out whenever I see Steven Weber or ice picks.

The original Power Rangers I used to watch religiously, too... and the repeats of the '60's Batman. I still remember sitting in my parents room when we were getting ready to go on holiday watching an ep of Batman on their TV. Heh.

I can't remember the names of most of the shows I used to watch when I was little... Transformers, Thundercats, that... was it called Centurions? Where they all had animals or something in little plates on their chests? I can't remember. Ooh! Captain Planet!

Good times. They really don't make them like they used to, huh?

Wow!  There is a show to jog my memory.  From what I recall, it was only on for a couple of years, but I know I enjoyed it.  It was one of those early Fox sitcoms, when the network was still trying to prove itself.  Speaking of which, how about Get A Life with Chris Elliot?  I enjoyed that one also and it receives bonus points for its theme song.  It would be nice if either of those came out on DVD.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fraggle Rock, Muppet Babies, Garfield and Freinds, Transformers, Secret Squirrel, Reboot (im a nerd, so sue me), and Centurions. I loved the tv shows. I actually found a tape of centurions a few months back that i watched, and holy crap it was still cool.

@maxusy3k: Centurions were the dudes who could attatch all kinds of wicked mechanical stuff to their outer suits, no animals here.

Okay, so I watched Centurions then, too... but there was something else. Must research.

Also, Reboot rocked, at least the first couple of series did.

Pete and Pete was one of the best shows ever.

Speaking of Nickelodeon... anyone as nerdy as me ever watch Clarissa Explains It All?

I think I remember Clarissa, very vaguely... I remember my father used to enjoy watching it. The less said about that the better...

Also, yes, Visionaries... thank you, James.

eerie indiana! until my dad got me into the outer limits it was a pretty decent substitute. Especially remember the episode where theres a family who sleep in giant tupperware containers every night to achieve immortality and one where a character befriends a sentient ATM machine which gives him everyone elses money and the whole town goes broke feeding the kids designer for trendy sneakers. Anyone else see that show?

I was SUCH a cartoon freak! I used to watch like EVERY CARTOON going, except transformers, Thundercats was always so much better!

I prefered He-Man to She-Ra. I never missed a single episode of Mysterious Cities Of Gold (my dad loved it to, the south american-ness cheered him up, I think he missed home) or Pete & Pete or Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.

Found an old video with the TMHT on, watched it, it rocks! Although April isnt as cool as I remembered.

I also loved the Dungeons& Dragons cartoon. I was such a cartoon whore though. I even watched The Poddington Peas.. :|

it was seven cities of gold (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122356/) when i watched it on nickelodeon.  and the character design is credited to nina wolmark, so there goes that theory.

It was Under the Umbrella Tree.  I used to love that show, with the iguana and the gopher and maybe a bluejay...

Do you ever wonder what would happen under, under an umbrella tree?

Don't remember any purple yarn, but I would have been watching Polka-Dot Door between '82 and '86.  Might have come on later.

Wow, all I can say is yes!!!

My personal favourites were TMNT, Thundercats, Dangermouse, Voltron, Count Duckula, Duck Tales, Shirt Tales, Transformers, Scooby Doo... the list goes on and on.

Plus I was ADDICTED to Mysterious Cities of Gold. Nobody I talk to ever remembers it though.
