Anyone else think it's best WW2 movie ever made?

Yep. Or at the very least the best film about Hitler.
Quote
By humanising him to a degree not yet seen in film, it better exposes his cruelty and madness.
Sounds about right to me.

Is this the one about like, the last days of the Third Reich? and it's in German with subtitles? Because I've heard it was damned good.

Tis the very one, I was almost shaking at the scene where frau Goebbels kills her children, because she doesn't want them to grow up in a world without nationalsocialism. Very chilling.

Damn, I'm annoyed that I missed it at the cinema.  I was very interested in seeing it.  However it came down to there being a bunch of films I wanted to see, and when I went to the cinema it was right before the film closed there and it was a beautiful sunny day which didn't really make me want to go and see a film about Hitler.  Still, I'll wait for it to come out on video (or D.V.D. if I ever get a player).  I've been a big Bruno Ganz fan ever since Wings of Desire.

saw it here in germany and yes, i do think that it was pretty good.
i also agree with the statement quoted in the first post, althought there was quite a big uproar because quite a big part of germany's active brainwashing facilit..."news media" debated whether it was right to depivt hitler as a human being. i think it is, because only through reflecting that a monster such as him was, ultimately, human, makes us realize that fascism and crazed ideologies are not something of times far gone, conducted by fairytale monsters. those people were humans, they could have been your neighbour, they could have been you. although this is quite heavy i do think that it is necessary to talk about those things. not speaking about hitler(or stalin or castro or mussolini or[...]) as humans strengthens those who are akin to them by pushing them out of the people's perception.
