I really doubt it's a reference, but who knows!?
Probably just funny because it's a toaster burning down an apartment. Sometimes jokes are done more than once without the people knowing.

Well Ethan did burn down the apartment in Ctrl-Alt-Del, but it was because of his XBOT (turned his XBOX into a friend) attempting to destroy him. Although I'm not sure whose anthropomorphic robot came first....
