Post by: Unosuke on 02 Feb 2006, 18:35
ok, so my computer works just fine in every aspect but this. if i wanna write something to my second hard drive thats kinna big, like a bunch of mp3s or movie files, it'll go for a little bit, then the whole computer just shuts off like somone pulled the plug, then i usually have to wait a couple minutes before i can get the thing to cut back on. any ideas on whats goin on?

Is your power supply big enough to run both harddrives? It sounds like it's overheating and cutting out as a safety measure. That's also explain why you have to wait (for it to cool down) before you can start it again.

How much power can your current unit supply?  You'll probably want about 400W if you have a lot of hardware in it.

It should say it's rating somewhere on it. Just open your machine up and havea look around.
