My inner feminist is really excited that Peach has stopped being kidnapped and has her own game, but my inner feminist is also really weirded out by this:

(pic of princess peach crying like a sissy)
Most feminists I know, inner or outer, wouldn't be so much "weirded out" as "induced to murderous rage." I mean, come on. Mario and Luigi never broke down into helpless sobbing even when... well...

This is the 21st century now, Nintendo. Just because she's a girl and wears pink doesn't mean she needs to be a pansy. She slaps the shit out of people in Super Smash Bros. Melee with a tennis racket and now she's crying about... what? A fucking Goomba? That's serious backsliding.
-
For the record, Luigi cries a lot. But they make fun of him for it.
It's nice that for once, she isn't getting herself kidnapped, but when I saw that one of her powers was "Cry," and that the whole game was ridiculously sexist in so many ways... "weirded out" is my toned down version of "pissed the hell off." Not quite "induced to murderous rage."
-
We're talking about Japanese digital media; female characters breaking into hysterical sobbing seems to be par for the course. Unless that character's last name is "Kusanagi." But I digress.
-
Even if it is incredibly sexist, it will probably be a lot of fun to play. Because that's how Nintendo rolls.
-
Bunnyman: When you put it that way, I guess we should be glad she's not...
You know. With the tentacles.

*twitch*

Well, I guess it's a step in the right direction... maybe?
Really, if you want a powerful, not oversexed female lead in a video game, it's pretty much Samus Aran and nobody else.

*cough* Cate Archer *cough*

ADDITION: I just realized their list does not have Samus. wtf
-
so. does anyone have this game? i keep seeing it at the denki store and thinking that it looks fun... but i don't want to buy it and then be confused because i can't read it. looks like i'd be able to handle it with the japanese... but i'd like to be safe, you know?
-
i think sexism is really cool.
-
three cheers for misogyny
-
you know the princess has a cry attack? i hope she has a 'make dinner' and a 'wear lots of make-up attack' too, otherwise it's just unrealistic.

ADDITION: I just realized their list does not have Samus. wtf
The problem with this list is that most of the characters are treated as eye candy (eg. Lara Croft and the Dead or Alive characters) or are given the role of "the love interest" (eg. Rinoa from FFVIII).
Also, OMGWTF GUYZ SEXISM IS TOTALLI NOT KEWL
-
so, in all seriousness, when i get my ds, should i get this game?
