QC Nominated for British Eagle Award
« on: 21 Mar 2011, 06:20 »

I don't know if this is where this post should go, and if it's already somewhere else I apologise.

Questionable Content has been nominated for a 2011 Eagle Award for best Web Based Comic, along with Freak Angels, xkcd.com, Hark! A Vagrant! and Axe Cop.

If you want to vote for Jeph, yo can do so @ http://www.eagleawards.co.uk/nominations/.  Polling opened March 14th and the Awards are being presented London's MCMEXPO, May 27-29

If this contest includes Dr. McNinja I'll vote.

Cool... I think.

In the past, Jeph has stated that he holds such poll-based awards in very low esteem, for what I hope (as a math professor who teaches stats) are obvious reasons.

So I guess it's good for what it's worth, but in all honesty, it's not worth much.

Besides, I'm torn between QC and xkcd - they're very different, it's hard to pick a fave.

@Odin - it doesn't.

It includes Axe Cop, but not Dr. McNinja?  :psyduck:

Poll officially sucks.

Is it cold in here?

It is fun to see QC getting international recognition.

"Besides, I'm torn between QC and xkcd - they're very different, it's hard to pick a fave."

I totally agree. Don't bother. Enjoy each for what they are.
    - In xkcd we don't really care about the characters. Mr. Munroe does humor from a completely different (and wonderfully twisted) standpoint
    - In QC it is all character driven. The interactions between them is a source of humor and pathos.

As far as International Awards go....

Doing what you enjoy and it puts money in the bank is ABSOLUE PROOF of sucsess!

Peer reviews are for scientists.

I do.  Along with about 25 other comics.  But you can only vote for one in that poll!

Yeah, well this isn't a peer review.  It's an extroadinarily bad form of a popularity contest with the most biased form of sampling in existence!

But if you wanna participate, go for it.  I can't decide in the one category I know, and I know nada of the other categories.

And I think Jeph doesn't care!

If Jeph wins, can we expect a guest spot in QC for Dan Dare? I mean, has anyone ever heard of any other Eagle comic character?

I had a subscription to The Eagle as a young child in the 1950s.

Oh man, I love xkcd, QC, hark, a vagrant, and Axe Cop (although Odin, I agree that Dr. McNinja is better than Axe Cop).  Hmm.

<checks Wiki list> I've heard of Captain Pugwash and Harris Tweed. Not sure how well they'd fit into QC, especially Captain Pugwash...

well he always a bit rotund
