Going to see Sigur Ros, woo!
« on: 03 Apr 2006, 19:35 »

Well...just wanted to brag about myself goin off to see Sigur Ros play here in Melbourne...hell of a thing since Marylin Manson I reckon (not that it was good, but the hype on this is pretty big between us lovers of musically literate artists). You know, I knew a photographer who got spat on by Manson O_O. Really strange, cus he was the only one...he must have spent 2 days in the shower trying to wash off all the salivary shit. Not that it's something to praise - "my friend is so lucky, he got spat on by Marylin Manson"...but more like "my friend is so goddamn unlucky, he got spat on by Marylin Manson".

Anyway...

Sigur Ros, WOO!

Sigur Ros is a great band and it's cool that you're going to go see them. I just don’t know where all that stuff about Manson fits in here.

Heh I was gonna go to T in the park, but then I thought:

No. The only band I'm really wanting to see in Sigur Rós and they played edinburgh not so long ago and it was hella cheaper than T in the park.

The camping is meant to be a blast though.

i was at that edinburgh gig, it was definitely worth the journey up from newcastle.
i'd love to see them at T, my uncle lives in the same glen and i can really imagine it being a beautiful setting to watch them in.
y'know if it wasn't for all the other dirty festival folk getting in your way ;)

man you'll love em. The tickets are $72.60...so they're not cheap, but they're not all that expensive either. It'll be awesome to see them play though, hearing the shit they do on their albums is pretty cool...I wonder how they'll be able to pull of that shit on stage...so yeh, it'll be mad.

6 days to go! :D

YAY ... its so weird cause i logged on and was gunna ask if you guys thought they would be worth seeing live and there was already a thread WHEEE .... the only thing that makes me sad is i don't really have anyone to go with ... like i have a bunch of guy mates who are going but i kinda feel unwelcome hanging around them but im sure it will rock anyway :)

well, i've seen loads of bands since i started going to gigs playing everywhere from bars to arenas to festivals and sigur ros are responsible for possibly the single best thing i've ever seen at a gig.

theres plenty vids on youtube, but none of them really capture the atmosphere of it all.

yeah...look, I reckon the best people to go with are your CLOSEST friends. I mean, obviously people who're into the music, but also people you feel comfortable with being urself. I'm going with two good friends of mine, so yeah.
Here's a though: maybe invite a girl you like O_O.

damn your female ways! I never really understood the reason for girls showing up naked being a turn on for guys, but guys showing up naked being a complete turn off for girls.

Oh yeah, by the way O_O......sorry i didn't know you were a girl.

Ah...yeah, why don't you...ah...yeah O_O I dunno lol

lol i must defend myself and say that short shorts are the most comfortable and practical item of clothing to wear to a concert.... i also usually tend to wear the typical band tee and cons as well so im far from naked :P and i forgive you for thinking im a guy ...

you have to promise to give me a report on how they are in concert cause you will see them before i do :-D

I don't really have a concert 'dress' thing that I ever wear O_O...I just go casual and bring my leather jacket (now THAT thing is oisum...thanks to the ass of the cow that gave its life so I can feel good)

I'm not seeing them in perth. They were on the bill for the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival, but they cancelled. I'm also gonna miss Michael Franti and the Black Keys (who are playing at the same time) because I have to be on the other side of the city at 9ish.

and short shorts are never hot.

You never tried to prove a point though O_O...you just said that (refer to above)

so ah...yeah...it's only a matter of opinion. And my opinion of your opinion is that your opinion is queerified...meaning I think if you prefer women in corsets and dresses, well, lets just not go there anymore.

girls are just amazing creatures no matter what. Hell they're the gender that can look hot without the need of clothes...man, they even look BETTER naked. While we, men, we ah...don't O_O

I saw them play a set last night at the great escape in Sydney. They were fantastic. I still find it hard to get over the 'Hopelandic' thing, but they were still great.

that slogan is a good slogan. so good, in fact, I think it should be applied to other things. like, "there's no wrong way to hit your spouse." or "there's no wrong way to commit nonconsentual sodomy."

holy mackeral. I saw them 2 days ago here in Auckland, NZ. They were incredible, and the crowd just could not stop making appreciative noise.

I have a question, for those out there who actually bother to memorize the names of the songs, as correlating to me not knowing Icelandic. What was the name of the song where two bass guitars were used? The singer played one, and the bassist (naturally).

Any takers?

Saw them on Monday night… So amazing. Words cannot describe how good they were. They had a string quartet with them, an awesome light show, the sound mix was perfect (and loud). I was just in awe the whole time.
