Those are the guys representing Finland this year at Eurovision. (reg required).

Guess death metal, or joke metal, or whatever it is that these guys do, is going to get some mainstream exposure, huh?

Lordi are basically KISS gone totally fucking nuts in the make-up department. Their singer actually runs the Finnish KISS fan-club, that's how he got them together.

They are also actually pure evil. Nothing should be that catchy.

One of my friends told me about this a while back.  The http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6666637566522776701&q=lordi&pl=true">video is great!  Uh oh, it's the arockalypse!  The day of rockening!  Pun-based metal is surely mankind's greatest achievement.

Dear Gods, I knew they would do this. It is catchier than Mercyful Fate, Ninja Magic and Mortiis rolled together, and it is about my favourite cheesy metal subject (the ultimate victory of RAWK and METUHL.)

You cruel bastards.

I hope they win.  Gotta be better than the usual mix of crooners, cheesy pop and old women banging on drums.

Since we usually get the worst points anyway, at least this time we're going out with STYLE, motherfuckers!

Two years ago the public voted Nightwish unanimously as the representative, but the "experts" who used to select the performer chose some crazy christian woman instead. This is the first year the public votes (via sms and so on) are used for the selection.

Oh yeah, about their appearance. The singer does special effects for movies and television, so he's pretty handy with monster gear.

no offense, but finland had access to Wintersun or Ensiferum and chose LORDI?

I am all kinds of disappointed in you, finland.

Wintersun and Ensiferum didn't even apply for the vote, you know.

what about finntroll?

(from the article:)
"Rumors even circulated that Lordi members were agents sent by President Vladimir V. Putin to destabilize Finland before a Russian coup — an explanation for their refusal to take off their freakish masks in public."

Oh, you crazy paranoid Finns.

(also, sweden and norway don't have metal as their chosen participants, and I feel that is wrong. it's WROOOONG)

The only other metal band that was up for the vote was Kilpi, and they suck more ass than an ass sucking superasssuckomator 6000.

This is the best metal I've heard since 3 Inches Of Blood.
I may have to take a break from the forums for a few weeks because I just rocked my entire face off.

EDIT: More of the foxy metal girl in the video. She reminds me of a friend.

The video is pretty funny, although I couldn't bear to see the whole of it. It's supposed to look like a collage of anatopistic clichés, right?

I can tell from the picture that when these guys go on stage at Eurovision all of them will spontaneously grow to a height of twenty-five feet. They will then proceed to EAT the Eurovision song contest.

I'm with Khar.  There are very few metal songs that actually get me singing along that loudly.

Although I sympathize with this comment, it betrays a startling lack of understanding about how Eurovision works.  Typical Eurovision winners make Celine Dion sound like Django Reinhardt crossed with a Tuvalu throat singer.  Eurovision and artistic failure are usually synonymous, like pre-pubescent angst and fake piercings.

(I'm like a shark.  I've got to keep . . . making analogies.)

----------------I feel I need to make a snobbish post--------------------------

That is exactly why I tried to convince everyone that Coldplay would have been the best choice for Britain's act.

Given that:
1.- They are British
2.- They are very popular
3.- They have the same artistic value
4.- Thay are shit

It can be assumed that they are perfect Eurovision material.
