Well at a quantum level everything is uncertain, nothing is stable. In the large model of the universe a wall is wall, and understandably it doesn't change, but those rules don't apply to the small model of the universe. Schrodingers cat is a way of explaining the theory that you can either know the position of a particle or the velocity when you observe it. You can't know both, and if you look it actually changes the results. Maybe.

Dan you are thinking about Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle. Schrodinger's Cat is to do with the existence of things in a quantum state until they are observed.

Basically, you put a cat in a box with a vial of poison and close the box. The poison is linked up to a detector which has a lump of radioactive material in which there is a 50% chance that an atom will decay inside an hour. If it does, the vial smashes and the cat dies. If not, the cat lives. Until you open the box, you don't know if the cat is alive or dead, so it is in a quantum superposition of being alive AND being dead.
This says what I just said, but in fancier language.
