Xiu Xiu- The Air Force

You know how every once in a while you come across a record that makes you think "Goddamn, I am glad I got to hear this at least once before I died"?

The new Xiu Xiu album is like that (for me, anyway). It's chaotic, challenging, gorgeous, funny, and sad, just like the best Xiu Xiu songs always are. I think it might be my favorite record of theirs.

I really want to like Xiu Xiu but I can't get past the voice. I respect them musically and all but I just can't listen to that guy's voice for an extended period of time.

I was the same way with Xiu Xiu until I heard "I Love the Valley, Oh". Yeah I know it's the big hit single and everything, but I heard every other song before this one. I didn't like the band, but then after I heard I Love the Valley I was like "wait, this band is good, there's gotta be something I'm missing in those other songs", and I was right!

Has it been leaked? I mean according to Wiki it is supposed to be released September 15th.

Jeph, your musical judgement is usually unimpeachable and so I'll take a listen when I can get ahold of it.

I like his wierd voice. Now I see why they and Frog Eyes are compared so much.

The only song I really hate by them is "Support Our Troops." It's an interesting listen, but it seemed like he was just pissing off people for the sake doing so.

Anyway...TO TEH INTARWEB!

   7. "Saint Pedro Glue Stick" - you get the idea by now
   8. "The Pineapple vs the Watermelon" - i'm running out of good things to say
   9. "Save Me Save Me" - only a few left until the album restarts
