Yasushi Ishii - Musical Play Smiling Rebellious Flower

I cannot understand why Yashushi Ishii seems literally to have just written one soundtrack, and then done almost nothing else, apart from a few appearances on compilations and whatnot. I suspect he might be a session musician by day. The way this turns from a happy happy joy joy fuzzy rock song into the funeral march is just so fucking cool.

Sol Seppy - Slo Fuzz

It's the sound of a depressed kitten or something. Her voice is just so ridiculously vulnerable and childish that I can't help but feel angry at the injustice of a world that has made her feel so disconnected and unhappy.

Plus the bassline is fucking CLASS

I wanted to share this, but it didn't really deserve its own thread.

My Last.fm Top Artists This Week

Right now, I'm listening to Daisy May & Seth Bernard - Waiting (myspace)

A great tune. I'm at a loss for how to describe them right now, but that you can tell they really love playing music. Folk/Americana, how about.

I've been listening to Low and nothing else since Sunday. I think I might stop pretending to like other bands.

I just got Iron & Wine's Our Endless Numbered Days, and I am just flipping over Sam's voice!  I had no idea it was this clear and pure...amazing.  I finished the album and then just started playing it again, and I don't really do that often.  I feel a need to get The Shepherd's Dog now...also I hear that The Creek Drank The Cradle is more akin to Numbered Days, except less polished.  anybody have any helpful comments to add?
Thanks

Airfield Battle High by Inon Zur. It's one of the songs he wrote for the Crysis soundtrack (pretty much all his music is video game scores. It's all fantastic and mind-blowingly epic stuff.

Random Spirit Lover - Sunset Rubdown

Very dense and haunting but The Mending of The Gown, Up on Your Leopard, Upon Your Feral Days and  The Taming of the Hands that Came Back to Life break the album's mold and are pretty hyper and epic. Fragments of the songs lyrics are stuck in my head.

I can never quite make up my mind whether his utter lack of lyrical finesse fascinates me or irks me. And yet the songs still kick ass.

KT Tunstall- If Only

That's some good folk pop. I personally can't listen to stand her more popular singles ("Black Horse and the Cherry Tree", "Suddenly I See", etc) as they've been overplayed, but I found myself humming along to this one. I agree with Entertainment Weekly, she's the "lass to know."

PS: She gets bonus points for admitting that she looks like a "cat's arse" when she poses (or purses) for pictures, babbling about beer, cussing in interviews, and overall just being Scottish.

I think the only songs they played off Apathy And Exhaustion when I saw them were this one and Navigating the Windward Passage.

I think we've established that I love harmony.  I was a little obsessed with the first Good Charlotte album when I got it.

And that song ended, soooo

Falling Into History- Avril Lavigne

I think we've also established that I love ballads.  I just found out Avril didn't write this one, or another one of my favorite leaked tracks.  Probably explains why the lyrics are better than most of the rest. =X

Forsaken by Dream Theater. Probably the greatest band I've ever heard. Mike Portnoy live was nearly a religious experiance for me. I've never seen anyone do what he did and make it look that easy. I was humbled and vowed to get that good someday.

fuckin' A right. I also can't get enough of 'Amazing Grace' from Trust. Current favourite albums are the first one and Great Destroyer but they switch places depending on mood, no sense trying to rank 'em really.

Currently indeed listening to Great Destroyer, 'Silver Rider' to be specific.

Shutup I Am Dreaming of Places Where Lovers Have Wings is my favourite song, for reals. You should also listen to their EP as well. Section 9 is really cool.
I'm listening to Shoulders & Arms by Tokyo Police Club it is very energetic as is almost everything they do.

It's a really good song in a brilliant post-pink floyd album

it still has some pink tendencies but i think Mr Gilmour has done well as a soloist

lord knows there'll be no floyd comeback!!

I have been listening to the Fields non stop for the past few days in celebration of the upcoming tour+album. Pretty much basic Magnetic Fields' music here: quirky electronic pop with romantic lyrics. I'm gonna try and get to the Seattle show if I can.

Disc four of James Brown's Star Time box-set. The weakest disc in the set, but still some really solid stuff. Sweet-ass funk music, with James's influence on hip-hop showing up late in the disc, ending with "Unity."

I'm currently listening to Fair to Midland, I saw a picture of them in a poster magazine, they were all Southern looking, dressed in waders and the singer was holding a banjo with a do rag attached, I figured I'd look them up just for that. I was expecting they'd probably be shit though, when I found what they sound like, wow, that's all I've got to say. Can't stop listening to them.

I just found Project 2612 and downloaded a ton of soundtracks from there.

Right now I've been listening to the Dynamite Headdy Soundtrack and Columns III soundtrack. The latter I got mainly because a hack of Sonic 1 featured some cool songs in it. And Dynamite Headdy just completely rocks, as a game, as a soundtrack.

I've been totally abusing the looping feature on these soundtracks and have it go indefinitely, which can be as much as an hour and a half if I'm not paying too much attention.

I'm listening to We Will Not Be Lovers by The Waterboys. Fisherman's Blues is a pretty friggin awesome album. After the Decemberists concerts got cancelled, I thought "OK, I guess I'll go see The Waterboys instead" because they were playing on one of the nights. Turns out, they were playing at Webster Hall, which I'm not old enough to get into.

Argharghargharghargh. That was an awful night.

But uh yay. Mike Scott rocks so hard.
