"Don, Aman" off Spiderland by Slint. Y'know, I don't really see what all the fuss is about this... It's good and all, but it is not the MUSICAL REVOLUTION that everyone makes it out to be...

Consider this; look at pretty much every post-rock act in the last 10 years.  They've probably been influenced by either Slint (in the case of bands like Mogwai, or Godspeed You! Black Emperor) or Tortoise (in the case of bands like Do Make Say Think).  It may not seem like a musical revolution now, but that's because they've had such a huge impact on so many artists.

That said, I think Slint are ten times better than many of the artists they inspired.  For me, its the emotion that is enfused in their music that sets them apart from the other bands.

Some guitar heavy remix of Daft Punk's around the world.

At least, I think it is. I'm a little drunk. But it sounds very similar and it's awesome.

edit - apparently, it really is, and it's by someone called Nicky Van she, or something like that. It rules.

Massive Attack - 100th Window.  We had a bunch of cd's at work that our music director was throwing out, and this was among them.  It looked fairly interesting, and I knew that House uses one of their songs as its theme, so I decided to take it home.  I rather like it so far...

"As We Speak" by Soilwork.

Cool, I like it. This band has me undecided though, they've
done some songs that just blow me away, but then they
have some that don't keep my interest for some reason.
This is one of the former, though.

I've always been curious how does Wintersun compare to Ensiferum, I really love their "Iron" cd. Are they similar at all.

Death - Trapped in a Corner

"Individual Though Patterns" is highly underrated IMO

Yeah most Death fans tend to show all their love for either "Human" or "Symbolic "and ignore the in between album, I love Andy LaRoque's guitar playing on ITP.

"Spiritual Healing" is actually my favorite Death album but you're right they are all awesome

i've never gotten round to ensiferum so i can't really say i can say the riffage is great, the best way to describe them is a CoB clone who can actually play decently

personally i prefer the sound of perserverance in terms of death...maybe it's just the painkiller cover though

PlayRadioPlay is just one guy, and he plays the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and synth, does the vocals and mixes it all together. I love it when people are talented enough to do this.

The Red Chord - Clients

The idea behind this album is brilliant. The singer I guess worked for a while one summer for a clinic or something, dispensing pills to some of the homeless folk around Boston.  He developed all these characters, based on the people he encountered, and wrote the songs on the album about or inspired by them.  Also, the fact that one of the songs on the album contains the line "the penis was from heaven and it went to hell" makes it a winner in my book.

Yeah, I have no money to buy albums.  I've been listening to any Faraquet I can find on the internet, and I found that song on Myspace, and since Myspace has to shorten song names to fit in those spaces. . .

The $10 + Shipping from Dischord is totally worth it for that album. >>edit - The Faraquet one.<<

Tortoise - Crest

I've been listening to a lot of Tortoise today.  I finished Standards, and will probably make my way through the rest of It's All Around You this week, as well as TNT and Millions Now Living Will Never Die.  Before this I listened to The Mercury Program's From the Vapor of Gasoline and A Data Learn The Language.  I guess I am on a post-rock binge.

"We're From Barcelona" - I'm From Barcelona

NANANANANANANANANANA NANANA NA NA NA NA NA!

I NEED THIS SONG SO HARD.

Am listening to The Gossip - Jealous Girls

I really didn't expect to like them, as I don't like funk, albeit dancey or otherwise, I really don't like gspel style soul singers, and every scenester in my hometown thinks that The Gossip are so cool that they're all trying to become chubby lesbians to be like Beth Ditto. WELL I BEAT THEM TO THAT ANYWAY.

But the point - I got the album for my job and realised that it's absolutely brilliant and haven't heard anything to rival its brilliance in months.

I was surprised when I found out this was his only #1 single. I realize he's not particularly a "#1 single" kinda guy, but I figured it'd be something like "Rockin in the Free World" or something

I just bought the new Deftones album, Saturday Night Wrist, tonight...I'm going to go ahead and say it, this album is fucking GORGEOUS.  I was kind of disappointed in the self-titled album; it just felt like they went into it rather lazily and didn't write songs that were as good as their potential indicates.  I am really super happy to hear the new one with all the layers and sonic textures that White Pony had...

I'm listening to "Poptones" by Public Image Limited. It is about to become "Careering." This is good music. It is edgy.
