Sigur Ros - Svefn-g-Englar (Live at Laugardalshollin)

Probably my favorite song of ever.  And this live cut is especially good.

Pure fucking rocking out, and this is pretty much EoS's lightest song that isn't acoustic or a Police cover. Dan Swano pretending to be Andew Eldritch is the greatest thing ever, I wish he did it more.

i'm rocking out to the re release of the riverdales s/t record. better mastering job, live songs and a bunch of out takes that i reckon could have been on this anyway or maybe on the last screeching weasel record. i'm usually funny about re releases but someone made off with my original copy after a party i had a couple of years ago so there ya go.

Ringo Starr brings a new art to the drum solo in a great song.

I consider Ringo to be a somewhat decent drummer, perfect for the Beatles, but nothing special.

"I'm sorry that we have hung you,
I hope that you don't mind?
I'm sorry that we have hung you,
But the truth is that justice is blind, justice is blind!"

Raucous, lo-fi pagan folk-rock with lots of dark humour. Mixing atmospherics, thigh-slapping, and some damn nifty 12-string guitar work. Fucking ace, my best discovery of the past month.

This is the first Snow Patrol song I've heard where it isn't boring as hell and actually decently fun.  Since when did they make anything remotely techno-y? The online radio station I listen to is really cranking out good songs today! JUST ENDED! NOW:

You cant go wrong with Jarvis Cocker. This also further confirmation that you would love one of my best friends.

Sufjan Stevens - Decatur, or, a Round of Applause for Your Stepmother!

I am really happy my friend put this cd on in his car when we were driving to the liquor store yesterday. It made me remember why I fell in love with it in the first place. That's my favourite feeling in the whole world; re-experiencing musical loves you forgot about. Plus, Sufjan Stevens makes surpsingly amazing tunes to listen to while stoned.

Frost - Milliontown.
Some prog band one of my coworkers was listening to; they have keyboard parts that sound like the music from the Casino Night Zone levels of Sonic the Hedgehog (I think it was the second game).  Pretty interesting stuff - not anything that I'd buy myself, but it was good for a listen.

Also just bought the new Isis tonight, so I should be enjoying that.

Idiot Wind - Bob Dylan. Every time i listen to this i'm struck by how MEAN it is... "its a wonder that you still know how to breathe". Dylan's got alot of really nasty songs, and Lennon's "How do you sleep?" is pretty bad too...
I'm sure it dosen't compare to the metal people listen to, but its all really personal and cutting
Dosen't help that this was written to his wife and the mother of some of his children..... (though i thought it was about his fans and the press)
and the original version is even worse

I still maintain that Masters of War is far angrier and more profound than almost any Grindcore track ever. The only one that definitely surpasses it is 'You Suffer' by Napalm Death, which is about half a second long and is the only micro-song I can think of that really deserves to be taken seriously, because its lyric cuts absolutely to the core of everything.

"You suffer, but why?"

I;m currently listening to:

X-Ray Spex - Oh Bondage! Up Yours!

One of the best spoken song intros ever:

"Some people think little girls should be seen and not heard, but I think OH BONDAGE UP YOURS!"
