"Me and Mia" - Ted Leo and the Pharmacists

I grabbed this album (Shake the Sheets) and The Tyranny of Distance on Bittorrent last night. I've listened to both of them all the way through, and between the two of them, there are only 3 songs I would skip. Thanks to everybody who recommended this stuff to me.

I'm listening to III, the most heralded Sebadoh album, and I must say I'm rather disappointed. It lacks depth of Pavement and GBV, and despite the feud that ended Dinosaur Jr., J Mascis clearly emerges here as a more talented member of the band.

Of course, "Gimme Indie Rock" is one of the greatest kissoffs to a musical movement of all time, but this album feels pretty flat.

Mogwai - Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait OST.  I guess they scored this as a soundtrack for a movie about soccer or something?  I listened to the first few tracks before falling asleep.  I don't know, it's pretty good by just general music standards, but compared to everything else of theirs that I've heard, it's just a little underwhelming.

Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock is much better. III has a few great songs but they get lost on that album.
Also, Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock had a Nick Drake cover.

Agreed, Agalloch rule.

Radiohead - The National Anthem (Live)

I am not a huge Radiohead fan in the least, in fact I am of the opinion that they are hugely overrated , but if it comes up on shuffle I will not change it unless I really cannot stand the song.  And the song has now changed to

I'll third Agalloch being amazing.

After posting in the "Last song" thread about them, I decided I better take another listen to Isis, so I'm thoroughly enjoying every second of "Oceanic."  I love Panopticon, and what I had the chance to hear of the new one was good, but Oceanic is their best work, IMO.

A Wild Christmas with The Bonmarr Monk. a "mix" of christmas-oriented tunes containing such gems as "Stocking Stuffer" by Grand Buffet, "Christmas in the Looney Bin" by Daniel Johnston, "Ghetto Santa" by Spyder D, and "Go I will Send Thee" by John Fahey. Daniel Johnston's tune made me go look for more, so thanks Bonmarr for getting me into Johnston!

I'm listening to a streaming archive broadcast of this morning's Glenn Beck Program.  Hate me if you will, but all I have to say is, "Aaaawww yeeeeeaaahh!!!"

I listen to Glenn on a pretty regular basis because he makes me laugh quite a bit, and I tend to agree with him on more things than I don't.

Boyd Rice - Total War

Although I love the guy, I really can't help but think of his entire artistic output as being something like one vast dead baby joke. It always does well to remember that, apart from the fact that Rice's music is far, far less poppy, there's really very little seperating his methods from those of Marilyn Manson. I mean, they're both oh so spooky serial killer afficionados and reverends in the church of Satan who piss around with nazi imagery and make statements about how they want to destroy Christianity.

Rice is just more of an elitist cock about it.
