anybody like them? i didn't care for them too much.... till tonight.

i saw them play in nashville tonight. their show was pretty good, and then afterwards i talked for a bit with the keys player and the bass player. we got to talking about music equipment and the bass player ended up letting me get on stage and play his Fender '75 USA reissue jazz bass / Ampeg SVT Classic AV + SVT 810 AV setup. it was still at the levels from the show, so i turned it down a bit, but it was interesting. after playing for a bit with my fingers, he offered me a pick because "it really shines when you play with a pick". it sounded sweet.

he then invited my friends and i to the bar across the street for drinks.

i now like the stills. their music is good AND they are great people.

You know, you wait til two days after I buy the album and am excited because it makes me feel like The Stills have shared a secret with me personally through their music before you're like "yeah, I made friends with them."

Way to have an awesome experience, ASSHOLE.

Liam and whatever-the-bassist's-name-is are nice guys, for drinkin' with you.

At the Hillside festival last summer, Liam from the stills was just there. There was no apparent reason for it, he just showed up (like most of broken social scene did) and just jammed with everybody on his sax. It was great, he'd pop up on stage from time to time and jam with everyone.

I just got given Broken Feathers to review.
Its pretty cool... can anybody tell me who they are immediately referencing, with this sound? I have some ideas, but would rather keep them to myself and plead ignorance... :D

Whatsmore, my review copy of Return to Cookie Mountain arrives tonight, which is going to make me happier still.

Without Feathers.

Honestly the sound to me is very Broken Social Scene but a wee bit more concise. A wee bit.

Whoops. Typo, please don't butt-rape me... :D

Thanks for the musical link. I was thinking BSS but perhaps with some goodtime rock (eg Gomez almost...) with some old school styled early 70's pop.

oooooh TVOTR new album is greeeeeat.
