I usually am not the kind of dude to bash songs just because I don't like them.

 But..I was thinking about it..and..seriously..

I was going to go on another hate-filled rant about Hard-Fi's 'Cash Machine' which resumes to be ABSOLUTELY INESCAPABLE on just about every media, but really, that's just because it's a bad song that people can't stop throwing at me, but it's definately not the worst.

I can't really think of any song that's absolutely terrible that wouldn't be obvious right away. I offer Nickelback's discography (isn't that just one song anyway?).

"Trapped in the Closet" and "Ice Ice Baby" come to mind first.  There are probably worse, though.

Worst song by a good artist is "Sullivan's Social Slub" by The Fiery Furnaces.

By who?  I can think of ten worse songs without trying.  In fact, there's usually ten worse songs in the UK top 40 singles chart at any given time.  Starship were wimpy, not bad.

Common contenders for Worst Song Ever include "Paralysed" by the Legendary Stardust Cowboy (a man described by Dave Marsh in the Book of Rock Lists as being "incapable of playing any instrument, singing in tune, or keeping in time even with himself"), "Agadoo" by Black Lace and "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" by Napoleon XIV.  However, IMO the outright winner has to be the B-side of "They're Coming To Take Me Away", which is the A-side played backwards.

Are you crazy? I love this song. I sing it all the time!

Of course, nobody whores for attention as much as I do.

The Jackyl - Lumberjack (I think that's what they were called).

Basically... it seems to be AC/DC, but they're using a chainsaw as a guitar. Really, it sounds better in theory than how it works out.

How you can claim a sub-standard pop-metal fivesome is actually worse than the Crazy Frog is absolutely beyond me. There are thousands of much, much worse songs than Immortal.

Immortal's about four years old anyway, isn't it?

"Smooth" by Santana and Rob Thomas. First, because it's the most overplayed song in the history of mankind. Second, because it has Rob Thomas. Third, because it's mediocre, which to me is worse than purely bad. One of the guys on Something Awful said that at least terrible music makes you feel something, whereas mediocre music bores you to death. And when that mediocre music gets played on every pop radio station in every city in every nation at least once an hour to this day...well, it makes fuses blow.

Why sarcasm?  I for one care deeply about the Baha Men.  When someone finally tracks them down and tortures them to death, I want it to be lingering, I want it to be painful and for preference I want it to be me doing it.

I submit that if the Steve Miller Band had not used the aforementioned effects in the way that they did when they did it, Beck (whose music I greatly respect) would have had one less influence when developing his sound.

One must take into account the context of the time period.  Such 'lame synth effects' weren't exactly an established musical device back then -- most artists thought it was cool but didn't know what the hell to do with it, thus giving rise to a plethora of songs that really did NOT need synth effects but had them anyway.  SMB, on the other hand, found a way to incorporate them into a song that integrated the sound into the lyrics -- damn near seamlessly.

"Fly Like an Eagle" is a classic.  "Life in the Fastlane", on the other hand, that I'll grant you.  Yech.

I firmly believe that they are one and the same band as Good Charlotte, and I challenge any of you to prove me wrong.  At the very least, they are the exact same level of shittiness.

Noclaw, on the Pop Group song, I have to say, I actually enjoyed it, and didn't really find it that terrible to listen to at all.

And I think Kai may have won for finding the shittiest band ever with Hawthorn Heights.  The video just drives the point home.  I have to say.  I love the shots of the band, with the band members who aren't the lead singer going "nuts" on their guitars in the background.  Also, the comments about how they're post-hardcore are great fun.
