Cuttin stuff up to make new stuff
« on: 08 Jun 2006, 14:38 »

I detest hemming or messing about with waistbands, so I make things by cutting up things I don't like and going all Dr.Frankenstien on them!

Like skirts, 4 pairs of pants in a former life.

And tank tops from XXL teeshirts

Other XXLs were too annoying to bother with straps, but I kept the top bit

Also bags are fun when they used to hold rice

ALL FOR NOW, but does anyone else make their own fun clothing?

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

i just remembered that my ex made a pair of jeans into a skirt, and when the skirt ripped later, she made it into a cute bag. she also made my heart into a hopeless ruin. must be a girl thing.

The bag is awesome. They do something similar in Japan, they make bags out of old shop aprons. You can see some here

Hrmm, I can't remember what I did... I don't think I had to resize the waste. They are a bit short, and look better with tights, but that is because I'm a fairly modest dresser and I don't wear short skirts often. I think next time I do it, instead of just cutting 'em open and sewing 'em together again, I'll add some fabric.

I really like the idea of making clothes out of other shit. Too bad there's not much you can really make for a guy, and I can't sew and don't really care to learn. WOAHAOHA

I seem to recall knowing someone who had a skirt made out of ties. That was pretty awesome, assuming I didn't make it up.

That hoody I mentioned?
STILL not finished. I ran out of parts.
I have sliced up two shirts a little and sewn some red fabric underneath like in Tegan and Sara's* walking with a ghost video. That got me a few 'Bloody emo!' comments thrown in my direction.
I also plan to make a jacket out of a bath towel, but I'm not sure that I'll have enough towel.
I sliced the lower sleeves of a black jacket to make a short sleeve jacket, but I don't think that counts.

oooh! Denim shoes! That'll be a fun experiment.

*RED! They're like crack that you ingest aurally. I haven't listenned to anything else is days. I don't know whether I love you or hate you.
