Doesn't matter whether you actually like anything from said genre, what's the stupidest description for music you've heard?

I'm going with goregrind...seriously, that's ridiculous.

anything that adds the *core suffix to sound to sound badass. I actually heard something referred to as horrorcore once. That's just stupid

My best friend and I used to joke about starting an acoustic pirate grindcore band...does that count as stupid? Cuase I totally think that the awesomeness of pirates cancels out the stupidness of *core

Nintendocore...haha...isn't HORSE the Band pretty much the only band that gets called by that title?

I was vaguely amused by that band when they first came out...now I'm really bored and annoyed with their existence...or existance....can never remember how to spell that word right

I can think of maybe 5-6 nintendcore (or very similiar) bands. HORSE the band, 14 Year Old Girls, Enter Shikari, Sky Eats Airplane, The Advantage, Breakdance Kickboxer, and I hate this stuff.

The only thing i heard the Advantage being called, besides awesome, is a nintendo cover band.

Well, as the term applies to HORSE the Band, it's basically a shitty grindcore type band that plays stupid songs with keyboard parts that sound like Nintendo songs only played really fucking fast...

they also had a song about Cutsman from one of the MegaMan games I guess

The Advantage are a very talented group of folks who are instrumentally a rock band, but strictly play covers of music from old NES games.

It is quite awesome, though I must admit the novelty wears off after a few listens.

the advantage look really good, but is that really nintendocore? does this kind of music really differ enough from everyhting that's come before to merit an entirely new genre?
this thread is something of an awakening for me, i had no idea the fad to stand out has become such that every band needs to come up with it's own genre.

the genre im all upons about at the moment is classical rock. like the canon on a guitar on youtube, and matallica playing the star wars soundtrack, or maybe some emo band playing in the hall of the mountain king on six double guitars.
this genre is most definitely not called classicore. i play classical violin, as well as rock violin, trad violin and metal violin, and there is no difference in "-core" ness between them, each is a intense as the other.

what genre's do these bands fit into in this crazy world?

indie is used for the indie bands that people who don't use this forum actually hear about.
i don't get why need all these genre names anyway. it really looks to me like people are coming with the genre for their band before producing any music.

if i were to mix'n'match to make a new genre, it would have to be balladcore.

Their myspace page also has links to various other ridiculous bands, such as 120% Says Your Going To Explode and NeverDead (Vampyric Emo-Metal for...THE SCENE!*) They generally have the flavour of another awesome subsubsubgenre I'd forgotten (oddly, as at least one person as claimed I'm part of it), which is NWOSBHM, 'New Wave of Silly British Heavy Metal', which is mainly inhabited by Metal Batman

The term undercore is particularly evil because it was invented by Dea...Dea...those guys...

Going back to nintendo bands, there are things like The Advantage, The One Ups, etc which are bands that simply cover themes and songs from nintendo, most of them belonging to either 16-bit and 32-bit consoles. AFAIK they do not compose their own material, in fact, some are overzealous about the technicality of the task, refusing to make it sound more rock-like. (Minibosses being an exception)

And then there are things like Hella, which are supposedly, nintendo-inspired rock. But just what the hell that means, i can't say.

I personally prefer nintendogrindcore, a la The Locust and Eddie Edwards.

As for stupid genre names, I'd go for Epic Hollywood Metal. As for stupid genres, Pornogrind wins.

Also, I think "Groove Metal" is misleading as I think of Kyuss and other bearded stoner guys and not Machine Head when I hear the name.

EDIT: Also, Forest Folk is a stupid thing to call these new Finnish underground folk acts.
