meh, I'm not gonna sell you on it. As I said, I'm not all that involved myself; I was curious if there was anyone else there doing something interesting. Second Life seems a lot like the internet at large: a bunch of private areas where the interesting stuff happens, a bunch of commercial areas where people are selling stuff, and a lot of porn.
The most interesting event I was at so far was some dude's house party; I think I need to look for more of those. Also, it's funny to skydive in on random plots of land, since you can do that basically anywhere.
It doesn't really look all that interesting though. Maybe learning how to make things will gimme something to do there, I dunno.
Yeah, most of my time so far has been spent making spiffy little animations, which for an animator is a gas. Customizing your avatar can get pretty out there; mostly I spend my time looking like a Star Trek alien, but sometimes I turn into Snoopy or Robosapien or something weird like that.
Besides that it seems like a big 3D chat thing, sort of like gabbly with 3D graphics. Which is cool in and of itself. I mean c'mon, Snowcrash anyone?
Also, the ten bucks (what 2500L is worth) for every referral is just if the person upgrades to a paid account. Free basic accounts don't matter.
ADDITION: Oh yeah, if anyone wants to look me up I'm Johan Durant.
