I don't have a wii... but I want one now.  I was over at a friend's place the other day and DAMN IS IT FUN.  I am utterly addicted to wii golf and I have no outlet.

Out of curiosity, think we should start a Wii code thread?

i support this idea, mainly because once i get my internet working for the wii i don't want to have to sift through the 4 pages of this thread to extract people's codes.

i'm lazy.

My dad wrote me and my brother a cute poem about how he couldn't find a Wii in time for Hanukkah, but we're going to hopefully get one in the coming weeks. We have yet to devise a way to split it between me and my brother, although he speculates that it will be spending more time here than in his college dorm room.

I still haven't played one, so I'm really excited.

Guh. I tried out the Wii at Gamestop the other day while pre-ordering Vanguard (*COUGH* shameless plug), and it was a disaster.

The Twilight Princess demo? Couldn't get past the shooting range. Sure, I can flick the remote, but I can't flick, aim, and shoot all in 3 seconds. Especially since I'm an inverted player and couldn't adjust the down=down and up=up.

So I give up. Five minutes later a kid comes by and just lays WASTE to the demo. I cry, softly, and exit the store in shame.

The Wii is a lot different than handling a gamepad. It has a learning curve, and it's an acquired taste.

I got a Wii on Decmber 3rd at Target. I got it on Day 2 of Hanukkah.

It rocks my socks.

Currently, I have Zelda, Trauma Center, and Raving Rabbids. And a second wiimote.

TC:SO and Zelda: TP FTW.

Best music: Music from Trauma Center: Second Opinion; the mission Vulnerability. It has matal music. *rocks out*

I just put down a preorder for WarioWare today. It comes out in less than three weeks! I am way stoked for it.

The thing is, nobody else in my family plays video games, and if I want to play with friends, odds are they have a Wii of their own and can just bring their own controllers. Right now, I'm just trying to find a damn Classic Controller.

Same here. I've got several VC games i have on my list to buy and I don't want to buy them till i have a Classic controller. Not a single goddamn one in the entire city.

Yeah, I'm going to use the VC as a chance to get all the games I missed out on during the 16-bit era. Gunstar Heroes and F-Zero are the ones I'll probably buy that are on the system right now.

F-Zero was one of 3 racing games i could stand during that era. The other 2 were Mario Kart and Rock and Roll Racing.

The sense of speed they were able to portray with the SNES is mind boggling when you consider the hardware.

Yay for early mip-mapping  :-D. I loved Zelda, easily the best game all year, playing CoD 3, its good on the wii because i can HEADSHOT people easily. Got sonic on the VC, its hella fun and i love it. To the classic controller person, i can buy one a send it too you if you are REALLY that desperate because we have alot here aswell. I downloaded ultimate alliance for pc the other day, its awesome, i use ghost rider, thor, spider man and wolverine usually but i change spidey for the human torch sometimes. Thor is the one i control usually, but wolverine cant die lol

Jesus, there's too goddamn many VC games i want.

Gunstar Heroes
Legend of Zelda
Wario's Woods
F-Zero
Bonk
R-Type
Sonic
Ice Hockey
Super Mario 64

They haven't even started in on the 8 and 16-bit RPG's and I'm already gonna be shelling out $54.

See, I'm going to buy games I didn't already own. Except for maybe the original Zelda, because when I was 5 I didn't know what the hell to do. I might get Super Mario 64 too, because I don't really want to drag out my N64 every time I want to play it.

Nintendo should totally pull a Live Arcade and integrate online multiplayer into some of these games. Then I'd think you'd see a lot more people buying them. I mean, 8-player online Mario Kart 64?

After having moved so damn many times since I turned 18, I'm planning on replacing a majority of the games that i thought were worth a damn and have been lost due to various circumstances.

Also, it annoys me when people say that they won't buy a VC game because they can already do that on there PC/PSP/whateverthehell. In those cases I think they are missing the point of legality.

That and I apparently love giving Nintendo money.

i can't even get mine hooked up to the internet to download these old games... hence the lack of use of my classic controller. there are apparently too many unlocked wireless netwroks around my apartment and it confuses the system and doesn't let me connect to any of them. or so the nintendo website tells me. anyone else having problems with this?

Wow, do you work for the NSA or something? Last time i encountered security like that was for a bank that had all the employees on laptops (I was wardriving  :-P). But seriously, why so secure, last time i checked good ol' WPA was fine for your normal person, its not THAT easy to crack.

I just see no reason to not use the full extent of my available security. The last thing i need is to have suits show up concerning the child porn someone may have viewed on my wireless network and then find lots and lots of files that certain sue happy organizations might find interesting.

It's really just a couple minutes of inconvienence for anyone thats new to my networkif I'm allowing them on, so it's all good :)

Oh yeah, has anyone here played Odama? I'm very tempted to buy it for $15, and I tend to be a fan of strange off the wall games ala Katamari and Chibi Robo, and I was wondering if anyone could actually give me a bit of a clue whether or not this game is even worth playing.

I finally managed to find a Classic Controller, and I picked up a copy of Rayman with it. It's delightfully insane.

I still want WarioWare though.

Yeah, it has a learning curve, but not as much as a two-stick controller with 17 buttons (that's what the 360 controller has, counting the directional pad, Back, Start and Guide). I think if you're new to games or haven't played in a while, it's easier to pick up because you're not trying to untrain your old habits.

Also, Odama was not so good. You'll spend a lot of time yelling instructions for 10 minutes to little guys who won't follow them, then you'll have to start over when you lose. And! If I remember right you only carry as many men to the next stage as survive. I just found it sort of annoying.

thats a silly thing to think, considering most peopel who play wii are going to have played SOME kind of videogame consnole, in which the controller will have more resemblence tot he x360s

the wiimote does have a learning curve, though, just the controller itself

it took me half an hour before ic oudl play anything half well, then i got to learn to play the individual games
still lovin it though

I'd argue that the early sales numbers for the Wii (meaning, every one that Nintendo can produce at this point) are proof positive that they're still in the console business. Between the DS still dominating the handheld market and this, I don't think Nintendo's going the way of Sega any time soon. I'm honestly a bit surprised that the casual gaming demographic has warmed up to the Wii as much as they did.

Almost all of my friends have them now, but so far I haven't been able to find one.  It's as though I'm being singled out for my insufficient commitment to video games, which is peculiar.
