Minority by Green Day on my bass. I never learned the whole song, just the verse bits.

*blush* My Name Is Jonas [by Weezer]  on the drums.  I'm not such a big Weezer fan, but the guys in my band are, so they kind of peer pressured me into learning it.

Interesting that you learned a song that's in 6/8 time as your first track.

Yeah.. when I was first starting, I didn't know much about written music, but the recording sounded simple enough to me.  It's actually a pretty easy to play if you ignore the time. [Which is not always such a good thing to do...]

To be fair, The Blue Album has about one drum beat on it for forty minutes, excluding the two in 6/8, which also have the beat as each other.

It works, though. Nice and minimalist.

"New Path's to Helicon pt.2" - Mogwai or "Dont Forget me' - RHCP or "Life and Limb" - Fugazi. I forget which came first, but it was one of those.

Second song "Memorial" - Explosions

everybody learns "Smoke On The Water" eventually.

to add onto the list i started earlier in the thread: "Dusk And Summer" by Dashboard, "Simple, Starving to Be Safe" by Daphne Loves Derby (really fun), and "Good Riddance" by Green Day

none of which can i play through in through in their entirety without messing up.

I learned Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones on drums.  At the time the song was quite taxing on my stamina.  Now I'm working out so I can play Battery by Metallica all the way through without my right forearm and hand going numb.

BOC - Don't Fear the Reaper (I play a meanass cowbell)

But really, I mostly learned to play a blink182 song whose name escapes me (Girl at the Rock Show??), but gave up on guitar after I broke my wrist.

I think the first song I learned on guitar was "Californication".

I've since forgotten it. Last song I learned was some random Chiodos song.
