The Departed

Got back from a showing a while ago. Wow. Just, wow. Not only is this the best movie this year, this is the best movie of the past 5 years. If there were any justice in the world, this would get Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Supporting Actor, and possibly screenplay. But it's a Scorsese movie, so it'll get a couple nominations and get snubbed.

But anyways, go see this movie.

i saw it on friday and it is awesome. i agree that it deserves best picture.

cant say if its the best movie in the last five years (i'd  have to do some serious thinking to remember enough movies to make a decision).

everyone must go see The Departed. it is fantastic.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

You guys are freaking me out, my roommate just told me to see this movie today.
One of you guys is my roommate.  I refuse to believe meatlife and interwebs can intersect in such a nice way without massive conspiracy.

Okay, was concerned for a second there.  We should grab lunch tomorrow, my hispanic jujitsu-doing, bad-at-math roommate from New Jersey.

The TC is sitting at home, waiting for me to watch it.  And watch it I will.

I only pretend to be bad at math to lure people into my jiu-jitsu holds

Ending was far too abrupt. -5 points.

So the question of the day is, would it be better to go see this movie stoned or sober?

I am excited to see this but I want to see Internal Affairs before I do so I can see how scorsese et al had it re-written. I imagine much like every movie I will see this stoned.

Sweet movie.  I don't think it was nearly as violent as some people say it is.  For a movie of it's duration, they sure did introduce a bunch of stuff for no reason though.
