Webcomic Cartoons

Now that Scott Kurtz has announced that an animated series of PVP is being created, that makes three (right?) webcomics (PVP, Ctrl+alt+del and Least I Could Do) being made into animations.

Where's the QC series! Seriously, someone get a bunch of 25 year old actors, turn the comic up to ish 525 (or thereabouts) into a 12 show series and pitch it to the CW. We need to hear the indie rock

I was pretty much inevitable that something like this would happen sooner or later. I'm distressed by the vanguard the Powers That Be Fucking Over Good TV Whenever They Get The Chance have chosen for the first batch of adaptations. PvP? Ctrl+alt+del? Least I could do? EWWWW.

My list for webcomics I want to see adapted:

QC (obvious)
Girls With Slingshots
VG Cats done as a sketch comedy show (If there has to be a video game themed adaptation, at least let it be a good one! I can't stand seeing my hobby dragged through the dirt like this.)

That's about all I can think of at the moment. Any others people would like to see?

It sounds fun now, but wouldn't we all be horrified if they chose Adam Brody to star as Marten?

Oh, and please don't strangle me for even making the suggestion.

I would love an Achewood series on Comedy Central or [adult swim].  BUT I love it as a comic and if it turned into a series now, I know I would be disapointed.

itd be very tough to translate QC into quality cartoons. I can just imagine some director making it come off as an animated Friends with sass, and QC forever being ruined by it.

A quality TV version of Megatokyo would certainly be interesting.
But then, already knowing the plot, it could be kind of boring.
Though the whole in-between-sections deals could be fun; 1337 Largo would certainly be entertaining.  In a watching-someone-else-play-video-games sort of way.

It would be nice to hear the music that is being played so I know what they are talking about, but I cannot think of anything else that sound or animation would do to really help the comic out.

I actually did a bit of that right after posting. When the flaming lips were referred to as a crack rock of pure joy, I had to check them out. I still want to know what Death Mole sounds like, though.

I can just picture ELER being made into a series, it would be like tech tv on crack or something, especially if they stuck with the idea of viewers writing their ow scripts via the wiki...

There be Deathmole mp3s here. You will have to search the entries a little bit. The songs are easy to find, because they are links to mp3s. For furture reference, this link is right up on the main page. (QC Livejournal!).

The style Applegeeks is drawn in reminds me of cutesy anime.  So i always imagine it as a show kind of like that.  It'd be really cool to see Eve kicking some fully-animated ass.

This statement assumes that megatokyo is putting out something of quality to work with in the first place.

I can't decide.

First I thought to myself, "the only comics that should be made into shows are ones that have ended."

Then I thought, "wait, but if the comics are still running, they'll be putting out material to save themselves from having been made into a show (pardon that grammar)."

both have their merits in my mind.

The people doing the PvP and CAD cartoons have approached me a couple times about doing a QC cartoon.

It will never happen*.

man, if they're willing to give you 2 million up front, they've got more.  hold out for like a hot chocolate fountain for the living room or something because that'd be hella sweet.

Order of the Stick could be fun as a flash animation or something.

toothpaste for dinner could be cool as a short Don Hertzfeldt type thing.

Also, Penny Arcade is getting a video game soon, so animation might not be too far behind.

I could see QC as a Friends-ish TV sitcom, but the basic idea has already been done anyway.  Slice of life TV show with the occasional indie rock references?  I give you: How I Met Your Mother on CBS.

But yeah, a cartoon version wouldn't work at all, and I just can't see QC being done by the same guys doing CAD or Least I Could Do, no way.

Apparently, Chris Onstad is working on the screenplay for an animated Achewood project.

Okay, fuck, I can't find the source now.  But he said it in an interview.
