Well the point is A7X uses sweep picking quite a bit. Also see: Dragonforce, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Trivium, Black Label Society, Pantera, (not so much on Pantera, and even less on BLS).
Conversationally, sweep picking is also reffered to as "economy picking" if it's used more sporadically (i.e. whenever it's better for the particular situation than alternate picking.) Here's a good example in A minor:
(sweep down) (back to alternate) (sweep back up) (little bendy trill lick) (one more sweep up)

If you can figure out where to best place the up and downstrokes in between the sweeps, that's economy picking, and a great way to employ sweep picking in actual songs, rather than Yngwie wankfests.
