Right, so I bought Spiderland

I figure now that I own this quintessessential 1990s release, I can return here. My only beef though is that this 1995 reissue sucks balls in the mastering department. You'd think that with all the hail and praise math rock and post-rock gets now, this would get a proper remastering job?

I don't know if it's because I was so late in listening to them or what; maybe I just heard all of the bands they influenced first, who can tell.  The point is, I listened to Spiderland a few times and just wasn't all that blown away by it.  I know I speak blasphemy right now, but I was rather "meh" towards the whole thing.

I like Funhouse but it's the sort of album where you can tell the songs would sound better and be more wild live.

So true. We need more non-reunion, pre-Funhouse live material. All I've seen or heard are those two fragments of TV Eye and 1970, which are admittedly fantastic despite their incompleteness.

Any way, I like it that Funhouse is the new favorite album on this board. Mostly because I own it but not Spiderland, but also because it really is an amazing album.

I need to get Raw Power some time.

Tommy speaks truth (at least about 1970). The first few notes of the sax solo alone are the best part of the album, and the beginning where the bass kicks in and Iggy's last few screams are the runners-up. In my opinion, at least.

Also, points for actually making LA Blues work.
