You gotta be on your guard all the time around here. One sign of weakness in your prose and the denizens leap on it like wolves.

Then the rest of the thread is just you getting repeatedly metaphorically eviscerated.

MORE LIKE IRON AND WHINE AM I RITE HERE FOLKS?!

But seriously, all his stuff is acoustic-based. Well, maybe not his last album, but still. I do love him though. Only have the first album and his collaboration with Calexico.

I am so, so disapointed that a google search for "satantic death polka" came up negative. That would be so awesome.

Don't worry, I'm sure that Beautiful Wang & The Ally's will have one soner or later.

death-polka aside, I love Iron & Wine. Sam Beam is one of my favorite poets.

If you like the 'close-whisper' effect, you might light some of M. Ward's early material ("Undertaker" comes to mind), as well as much of Elliott Smith's work.

I'll be honest, I have no goddamned idea what I'm actually doing for BW&TA...I know it involves the trombone, but after that I am clueless.  Maybe I'll just bring my horn into the studio with me and record some random noises, and you guys can decide what to do with them.

You know, because we need more senseless, made-up music genres that end in "-core" (or "xCORE", take your pick) to make life all that more interesting.

But all metaphorical eviscerations aside, I really do enjoy Iron & Wine. "Fever Dream" is by far one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Maybe "satanic" would work better?
Also, "Vampolka" by the Devin Townsend Band, perhaps?  Closest thing I could think of.

I'm pretty sure that genre exists somewhere on myspace music.
