- Make a genuine effort to get along with new roommate/hall
- Remember to take the pill on time each day
- Gain some semblance of abs
- Be more cheerful/less aloof in person
- Explore the kama sutra
- Get an on-campus job

Even if I only manage the last and first, it'll be a good year:)

I highly suggest worrying about the second one too if you're going for the second the last one, eh.

- star running or something
- go to Europe with your friends

So you're going to force the rest of us to go to Europe with our friends?  Will you pay for our trip there, as well?

Well, so long as they get me some pretty awesome souvenirs, I'll be happy.  Plus it'd get them out of my hair for a bit, I could relax, maybe meet some new folks.

Goddammit, I need to stop being so fucking negative.  It really pisses me off; it's such bullshit.  And I need to stop complaining next year, too... I'm so sick of all the complaining.  God, it gets old.  Hurr, I'm funny.

Okay. I failed at this past year's resolution. Actually, I did the exact opposite of what I said I was going to do. I said I was going to lose weight. I gained about twenty pounds. Oh well. Perhaps I should make it this coming year's resolution to gain weight... then I'll lose it.
Meh. Not very logical, but it's worth the try:

My New Year's resolution is to gain weight!

-Get my life in order.
-Acquire a boy that will play chess and drink coffee with me that isn't my dad.
-Fine tune my singing
-Stop being lazy and get out of my introverted slump.
-Learn how to actually have normal conversations with people, I'm a terrible conversationalist
-Actually leave my state
-Get smarter
-Read all the books on the banned book list in the library
-Maybe study a little bit of philosophy
-Eat right
-Get a job
-Not say I'm going to do a bunch of stuff and then not doing it.

Yeah, that's probably more than I can handle, actually. DAMN.

Yay Ally for motivating people to get off their bums!

I have a few resolutions that won't come easy.

-Get over bad, bad breakup and instill SOME sense of self-worth.
-Actually pass my classes.
-Learn to sew (my "99 ways to sew/cut/trim your shirt" book has gone to waste)
-Get back in the QC community, because sadly enough, sometimes it's the only place I "click".

I HEART YOU GUYSES!

I want to:
Stop procrastinating
Stop being so negative (I stress out way too much over stupid things, and then shut down and don't do anything)
Keep my apartment at least quasi-clean (Do dishes at least once a week and not leave food lying around)

1. The requisite "Go to the gym and snack less"
2. Save more money. My goal is to put 15% of everything I earn in a savings account...I have to start paying my college loans in about 6 months...
3. Go to the bar less than three times a week--this will definitely help with #2.
4. Take more pictures.
5. Say what I really think more frequently instead of worrying so much about saving face.
6. Get a job after graduation.
7. Write more and send more to literary journals and mags.
8. Write thank you cards.

Yikes, that's a lot of self-improvement to attain in only 365 days. I think I have a good shot at most of them--the hardest for me to remember will be 1,3, 5, and 8.

1- Lose the 30 pounds I've gained in the past year or two by going to the gym more regularly and eating less.
2- Succesfully complete my immigration consulting course and start my own practice so I can make assloads of money.
3- Get a job and make a budget until number 2 happens so I can save up to buy a place.
4- Move to a better apartment until #3 happens.
5- Practice drums so I don't suck anymore (this will be more likely if #4 happens, cause the new place will hopefully be more soundproof).

2. Be okay with this.
03. (Oh my god).
04. Start contributing to society in a serious sort of way, you dumb suburbanite nobody.
05. Consider participating in the forums you lurk, creep.

And quite a few more private ones (topics ranging from "Hey Clara, get your shit together" to "Stop pushing people away" to "Re-evaluate yourself and your future in a serious sort of way" and "Get away from tequila before it becomes an issue") that are more appropriate for a quiet LJ entry.

2007 is going to be an entirely scary and awesome year, due to lack of friends (Canada enjoys stealing them), beginning Univeristy, continuing my new job, and moving out of Dad's place. I resolve to:

- Work just as hard as I have been at my new job. Maybe no more 50 hour weeks, but 20 will do whilst I'm studying.
- Do my homework.
- Make new friends.
- Learn to cook millions of tasty dinners.
- Do the washing at least weekly.
- Hug more kittens.
- Spend more time being naughty.
- Not waste entire days on QC.

*actually get in an application so as to actually have a job. I need teh monies.
*find several ways to earn said monies.
*actually start going to the gym. I may or may not end up starting this one in my basement until all those people who resolve to do such stop going to the gym and there'll actually be space there
*get the schoolwork done I need to get the grades up and be not on probation for NHS
*actually 5-star every song on Guitar Hero on Hard
*then, beat GH on Expert (probably not happening)

Oh, and Lunchy, you officially became a hero of mine when I read somewhere that you are studying some form of geology (I think). Is this true?

I have no motivation to get any either.

- Play with my son/dog more than I do my laptop.

Wow, I feel like a real slacker now.  Thanks.  Bastards.

1. Eat healthier.
2. Start working out.
3. As a result from 1 & 2, lose weight.
4. Get a summer job.
5. Pass all my exams, including the one(s?) I failed this year.
6. Update my blog more frequently.
7. Read more.
8. Try to learn PHP.
9. Be less shy.
10. Take initiative more.
11. Find a fucking hairdo, I do not want to have this hairdo by new years next year for the 7th year in a row or something.
12. Stop overthinking everything.
13. Find more music, I've neglected it this year.
14. Be a better student, which includes:
15. Have a decent sleeping pattern during the weekdays.
16. Learn to get up no matter how fucking tired I am.
17. Open the text books more than 2 days before the exams.

Not necessarily.  Collision can lead to orogeny, but so can volcanic activity.  However, generally before collision occurs, subduction occurs and starts the mountain building process

I guess I was defining it as collision because it is the collision of the volcanic mass created by subduction which does the actual mountian-building- you're jsut starting further back in the process than I am. Ok I will stop now;)

1. Work on my abs, cause abs are sexy and I need all the help I can get at the moment.
2. Keep getting good grades and bring my cumulative GPA up to a 3.0 by the end of the summer at the latest, and preferably by the end of spring semester.
3. Work out everything I need to study abroad (loans, tickets, etc).
4. Show up early enough to my flight to England that I can get the emergency exit row seats so that I can stand it.
5. Study in England/visit Europe.

What use are rock hard abs?

YES, I'M GOING TO FLEX MY ABS NOW AND THIS 400LBS DRESSER WILL RISE OF THE GROUND AT MY WILL.

I think that working on your abs excessively is a complete waste of time.  You're really either born with the body type or not, in either case you should make sure you have strong core muscles, but not to the detriment of the rest of your body.  Dudes, having rock hard abs don't mean shit to me it takes you eight minutes or more to run a mile and you can't do a pull up or push up to save your life.  Ladies, you sure are pretty if you take care of your body in general, I don't notice the abs all that much.

Ladies I don't really notice abs. As far as dudes, yeah, they're kind of useless. But they're hot. I'm not talking like bodybuilder abs either; just your normal "something other than the flab that currently sits on my waistline" look.

What Dan said. Abs are totally not worth worrying about - I've seen too many people get disappointed with not being able to have them, when they really shouldn't be.

Point to remember is, your abs are there - it's just whether you can see them or not behind your natural body fat. I know guys with much, much more core strength than me who don't have defined abs - their body type just isn't right. By contrast, I pretty much have good abs all the time, but I'm piss weak at the moment - I just have a relatively low amount of body fat. ("Ectomorphic," if you want to use the overly simplistic idea of somatotypes.)

If you want one thing that will make you look and appear healthier, it's (IMHO) great cardio fitness. Not being out of breath and overly sweaty when you do stuff is a Good Thing.

I recall reading that is actually unhealthy for women to have (clear & defined) abs? The article on women's fitness said you can have a nice six-pack for a little while but it is very unhealthy to sustain that little body fat in the long run, I think.

Tummys can be pretty darn sexy. I will never have abs because my body-shape has a little tummy. Always have, and always will. Just means I need to work my chest to make it look less pronounced. Work with what you've got, people!

...I resolve to work on building a better chest this year.
