Self-denial sucks. I want my 360 back.
« on: 10 Jan 2007, 12:57 »

Ok. I can handle switching from an above-average desktop PC to a Mac. After all, the only computer game I play is WoW.

But selling my 360 for a Wii? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Here's why:
1. I am a graphics whore. Denying that is ridiculous.
2. As fun as the WiiMote is, it does'nt feel like home, if you know what I mean.
3. Gears + R6:Vegas + Dead Rising. 'Nuff said.

Plus, I know my family will say something along the lines of "Oh look. Stephen fucked up again. Typical. He never thinks thing through." I hate that.

So, should I stick with my Wii, and let it grow on me, or spill some cash and go back to 360?

 Pretty dumb man.

 Pretty dumb.

But seriously.. if you sold your 360, shouldn't you have a hundred or so dollars extra to put toward another one?

I mean.. then you'd have BOTH.

I would never be able to choose between one or the other.

It's like choosing between sleep or sex. One. Then the other. Rinse. Repeat.

I agree. I love both of the systems, just hold onto the Wii and buy another 360.

Although you might want to wait. There's rumors of an HDMI 360 with a 120 GB hard drive being announced within the next few months. Not sure if I buy it, but I wouldn't go out and buy a 360 immediately if I didn't already have one anyway.

There's already footage of a HDMI 360 test unit on Youtube.

Well sure, but it could be another year and a half before they put it out on the consumer market.

I'm not sure if I'd even bother with the HDMI one anyway. The difference between component or VGA video and HDMI video is from what I understand pretty negligible unless you're really hardcore about your A/V setup.

Get the component cables for the Wii. It looks light years better. With component cables, you can see that the little screens on the wii homescreen have static in them.

As for HDMI vs. component vs. VGA: HDMI will look better than component, just by virtue of being a digital signal. Component looks better than VGA because it has better resolution. Unless you have 1080p/i, you probably won't be able to see the difference between HDMI and component.

Taking into consideration the price of the TV that would make upgrading to HDMI reasonable, I don't think I'll bother. Personally, I'm more than happy running my Xbox on my 19" 2000:1 2ms computer monitor. I shelled all my moneez into a computer, then realized all the best games were coming out for the Xbox.

I figured out a detailed battle plan for my Wii (its only slightly hampered by the lack of any for sale in the entire country)
Currently i have an XBox, but all the new games are waay expensive for what they are, so i've bought loads of trade-ins.
I plan to do the same for the Wii, with GC stuff. So all Metroid Primey and Eternal Darkness.

Eventually that'll run out, but before that happens there should be all the mature games for the Wii, less of all the snazzy sports.

Just stick with the Wii a wiile, let the library of games go up a bit, then decide.

Xbox + mod chip + 250GB HD + torrents = good times

I'm interested in the HDMI + 120GB 360.  I think it'll happen quite soon.
