(Don't care, they sound like all the other bands)
Google tells me that one of them wears nice hat though.
And some forums tell me that it's because he is balding...

If you're balding, you're too old for 'pop-punk'. Fallout Boy fail!

Also, next time you do this, don't make it a poll like this one, because it just invites people to come in and slag off the band. That doesn't make a fun discussion. Unless it's me doing the insults, then it's awesome.

The new Fall Out Boy single is a new kind of bad. It's really one of the most awful songs I've ever heard contain guitars, or any instruments.

However, Fall Out Boy has several good songs. One of them is called "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'"

Still, they're a pretty boring band. Not a lot is going on in their songs, and they're not terrible clever. I prefer Brand New's first record as far as high school pop-punk goes.

They had a song on the NHL 06 soundtrack that was decent, but I can't remember what it was called.

Personally, I think they're terrible, and calling them emo would be a compliment (as emo implies they are in some way related to a number of very talented emocore bands).  I have only heard their singles for the most part, and not one of them has stuck me as remotely imaginative or compelling.  They seem to get a lot of press for being "clever" and making jokes at their own expense, but their music is too boring and daft to meet the qualifications of clever.  I remember a few years back, before they became big, a friend of mine kept preasuring me to listen to them, saying they were amazing.  I'm really quite happy that I didn't.

I've only heard "This Ain't a Scene" or whatever and, um, yes.  Well.  I know people like to throw around things like "worst song ever" but it honestly made me laugh in a way I haven't laughed since Limp Bizkit.

But, hey, whatever's cool with you.  If nothing else, Fallout Boy serves a purpose in that whenever someone accuses me of being a music snob I can honestly say "I am not, I have a friend who listens to Fallout Boy and I don't even make fun of him for it".

Also, he has an emo haircut.  That, I do make fun of him for.   :-D

Something about lawyers. I think the song is crap though. Along with all other Fall Out boy stuff. If you're going to take a name from a character on The Simpsons and call your band that, at least make some half decent music.

I've only heard a few Fall Out Boy songs, and while I haven't really dislked them, I never became a fan of them, not to say they don't have musical talent. I just think it depends on what the listener is used to.

Okay guys.

Fall Out Boy make decent pop music. Really there is nothing wrong with them besides being mildly formulaic but if you're willing to forgive that somewhat then they are an okay listen when they enter your ears! They are not the pinnacle of rock but they are pretty decent songwriters!

Fall Out Boy are bad, but they're one of the better bands of the current clutch of emo soundalikes. Their song titles and lyrics are utterly ridiculous, excluding one line I like from 'Sugar, We're Going Down' (a song which I'll freely admit is a decent pop song), which is 'I'm just a notch in your bedpost but you're just a line in a song.'

And musically, the new one's okay. But the lyrics are still ridiculous and the video annoys the crap out of me. When the bass player kisses that chick, I want to punch him for some reason. But then I want to punch him at the best of times.

There aren't many emo bands I'll willingly endorse though. Funeral for a Friend's old stuff, The Junior Varsity...

not bad?

Let's re-examine this, shall we? What it means is that they are not bad. This does not mean they are good. It just means they are not bad. Hence, I used the word "literally." I don't mess around with the word "literally," man. That word is heavy.

Patrick Stump does indeed wear an awesome hat.  i had one that made me look like him, but i left it at someone's house.  :(

However, Fall Out Boy has several good songs. One of them is called "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'"

i don't really like that song.  i like the music video because they're all vampires though <.<   >.>

FOB's first album "Take This To Your Grave" was much better.  it was before they became huge pop icons, and just was much better on the whole.

"Sending Postcards From A Planecrash (Wish You Were Here)" is FOB's best song.  in my opinion

There aren't many emo bands I'll willingly endorse though. Funeral for a Friend's old stuff, The Junior Varsity...

Funeral For a Friend is Post Hardcore and The Junior Varsity is a sort of indie/alternative/punk blend.  The Junior Varsity is also one of my favorite bands ever.  one of their guitarists has the raddest name ever: Sergio Armando Coronado

Triple post? The modify button still works.

Fall Out Boy is in no way good music, but they are good at writing catchy pop songs.

They also did an acoustic cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart.

To be fair, I am sure they have dealt with issues such as breakups, alcohol, drugs, and disagreeing with their parents. It could be said that sometimes this leads to people writing music.

Junior Varsity are very much emo in places, definitely on Wide-Eyed, which don't get me wrong, I think is a fantastic album. FFAF became less post-hardcore and more emo as they went on. The early stuff is heavier, darker and better; the latter stuff is emo as fuck, and not very good.

"I don't like them at all" was not an option, so I'm going with "I don't care."  I'd be a hypocrite if I called you emo for liking them, because I just made a reference in another thread to someone being allowed to like whatever music they like as long as it genuinely moves them.  So, if it's your thing, then just love it fiercely and I'm okay with that.  But that doesn't mean I like them.

I had to post in this thread.  It had all the makings of genius and sheer comedy.  I must say I was a little disappointed.  Oh well.

I can listen to about 4 to 5 songs off the Take this to your grave album.  That's about all any retional human being should have to be put through anyways.  And emo?

Hours had some decent singles. 'History' is lovely. But even the first album is too commercial for my tastes. The EP stuff was a good balance between heavy and light, and it was darker in places. Only 'Bullet Theory' and '10 Scene Points To The Winner' (a b-side. If you don't have it, I do, and you should get it, because it's brilliant) really covered that later on, and maybe 'You Want Romance.'

And don't get into the whole 'd00d emo means emotional lol' argument, there's no point. It's a redundant argument.

meh...i thought it was a valid arguement.  my point was we all have emotions, just some of us ("emo" bands in this case) express it in a fashion that some might find overly dramatic.

No, that doesn't work, because then A Silver Mt. Zion would be considered an "emo" band and that would just be wrong.
