Custom DVD covers
« on: 08 Jan 2007, 08:46 »

I made some custom DVD covers for 3 reasons

1. I hate snap cases and I wanted to get rid of them so I needed new covers

2. I have a bunch of dvds out the Target 99 cent bin that have cases with no covers

3. I got a shall we say "not legal" TV dvds that needed covers

here's a few I'll post some more later, as you can see I REALLY like Batman

Those are pretty damn cool. How did you make them exactly?

Pretty nice. One hint, though. A major rule of typography: never put type over an image unless you can fit it all in an area with a flat colour. The Batman one with all the blue, for example, works well, the others are nigh unreadable. To fix that, put a dark coloured rectangle on a layer beneath the text. Also, I'm not a fan of the typeface, but considering it's Batman, it works. :)

Keep at it, and don't be afraid to read Graphic Design-related books if you'd like to make this sort of thing more than a hobby. :)
