I've decided that somehow, some way, I am going to become a movie director so I can make an epic, big budget, big-screen adaptation of Jeff Smith's Bone, which, if you haven't read it, is one of the most remarkable graphic novels ever.  Given the scope of the narrative, the movie would have to be at least a trilogy.

I also think Chris Hastings's The Adventures of Dr. McNinja would make a pretty Goddamn amazing primetime or late-night animated television show.  Whenever I'm reading it, I imagine all of his father's lines being read by either Charles Napier or Sam Elliott, and it feels right.

Scary Go Round would make a perfect TV series. Imagine each chapter of the story as an episode. If I need to explain the awesome, you are dead to me!

Well, in addition to the obvious (TV and movies), and the existing (videogames and cardgames (Penny Arcade)), I'd like to see more media tie-ins.

Like, I'd play a PvP cardgame.  Or I'd enjoy buying a Questionable Content compilation CD.  I'm sure the Decemberists could be coerced into writing a song about Faye, and maybe Ladytron or Freezepop could write an ode to the AnthroPC.

It's genuinely cute.

Despite my dislike of the fan made movie, I've always felt that Something Positive could make a sweet movie and wanted it to be made into one (but y'know with an actual professional cast and a script that wasn't just a couple storylines cobbled together but actually for the most part completely original).

I would be very very happy to see a Y: The Last Man movie, though I suppose one could argue that Children of Men was too similar to Y: The Last Man for now to be a good time.

I have, however, heard rumors that a movie may be in the works.

i'd like to see watchmen turned into a computer animated summer blockbuster where they change the plot and all the character's names and have my chemical romance and ashlee simpson on the soundtrack.

actually, i wish other media would just leave comics alone.

Schlock Mercenary, The Movie.  Howard Tayler has Andy Sirkis pegged for the digital performance of Schlock.  I'm not a huge Jim Carrey fan, but I can't stop imagining him as Tagon, with a plastic looking hairdo and orange jumpsuit.  It's a comedy afterall...

I got to the Hentai scene and couldn't stand it anymore, If the acting was better I could imagine that the opening mormon scene would have been very funny though.

I've always imagined Penny Arcade being made into an animated series on G4, I think it would fit in well there and be very funny.

I think they should respect Alan Moore's wishes, what really pisses me off is that the new project actually seems to be moving "seemlessly" along, and the guy doing plans on making a SINGLE two hour movie, WATCHMEN WON"T WORK IN ANYTHING LESS THAN A TRILOGY!!!!!! :x

I agree, there is no why you can fit in the pirate comic and all the back stories in 2-3 hours. If you rush you might be able to fit it in 2 movies. To do it justice and have it move at good pace and cover everything you need 3. Even then I doubt they would be able to do it justice.

Dr. McNinja would make a pretty awesome animated cartoon, I agree.

Other than that, most the comics I read would be better as simply comics.

Here's a web comic that already has been adapted to other media ,The Order of the Stick http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0001.html has had a board game published based on it. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/24157
The game is fun and does a great job of capturing the spirit of the comic.

Well they did a flash video for the 100th comic.  It had the Cocoanuts song on it from Monty Python's Flying Circus.

This other webcomic i read called Cyanide & Happiness was translated into flash, and did the comic justice.  Of course, it was done by the creators.

i think the only way you could have penny arcade translated to another medium is as a pay-per-view wrestling event with gabe fighting any comers and tycho as a color commentator getting more surly and drunk as people keep losing to gabe; culminating with tycho getting up in irritated annoyance, shooting gabe, then stealing his pac-man watch.

GENIUS! I'd pay to see that.

In order of probability, from greatest to least, I myself would like to see...

1) Rich Burlew's "Order of the Stick" as a series of flash animations - fully voiced and original scripts, not rehashes of the comic that's out there. Likely, if only because OotS is an embellished stick-figure comic created with Illustrator.

2) Questionable Content: The Radio Drama. We've got enough voice talents that we could actually do that one... hm. Has someone already tried this?

3) Joe England's "Zebra Girl" as an animated series. Most likely it'd be canceled after only two episodes, leaving you to buy the rest of the mostly-complete first season on DVD... but those two would still be utter genius. Mostly I just want to see those amazing ink drawings of his moving around.

4) Phil Foglio's "Girl Genius" as a trilogy of movies. Or quadrilogy. A series, however you want to put it, there's too much story to cram into one. The steampunk setting would be a special effects designer's dream come true (and nightmare at the same time, most likely), the costuming would be a shoo-in for an Oscar if they could get CLOSE to Phil's drawings, and... well... I'd just love to see Jagers on the screen... *sigh* Pipe dream.

5) Penny Arcade: The Musical. With special guest artists The Protomen, Peelander Z, and the Spoony Bards. `Nuff said!

I have to disagree. A trilogy would just have to meander more than the comic does. I mean, the comic itself reads in less than three hours, translating it to actual film shouldn't take any longer. The entire pirate comic can be pretty much entirely removed without really hurting the plot at all (I honestly found said comic to be pointless and just removing one from the story). Not to mention the fact that if they even included it, they'd have to change it to a TV series or something (Can you imagine watching someone read a comic in a movie? A bit much), which would work purists into an epic fit. Watchmen's actually probably one of the easier comics to work into a movie. It's short, self contained and low on the major theatrics, saving on special effects (Hell, Dr. Midnight's the only one with any real powers).

Hands down, I think either DMZ or Supermarket would make great film adaptations. (Can anyone tell I'm a big fan of Brian Wood? Hehe). In a related note, I really hope his latest blog post is of sarcasm D: (http://brianwood.com/blog/2007/07/25/were-it-up-to-me/). I'd repeatedly stab myself if Lohan were cast as Pella, one of my favorite comic heroines in one of my favorite comic books. I've even considered cosplaying her at one point (pffft).

And especially DMZ, due to the nature of the book's political criticisms and how they relate to present day happenings. I think that series (as well as "The Pride of Baghdad") should be on everybody's lists.

UGGGH, I'm dying to see Fables live action, as well. Though to keep more faithful to the comic, it'd probably have to be a TV serial.

I think Something Positive would work very well as animation... hell, if Randy Millholland was in Japan, it may have already happened, at least as a short OAV series.

Not sure about a TV adaptation, although the amateur Something Positive movie wasn't half bad. In fact it captured the strip very well...

I think Human Target would do very well with Christopher Nolan calling the shots.  Specifically the issue titled "Final Cut."
Basically about a man who is hired to pose as the target of potential assassinations.  Sometimes he becomes so involved with another identity that he loses focus on who he really is, which is why he is so good.  With good of use of multiple first-person narratives the audience could be deceived more than once.

Hells yes.

Actually, have you ever heard of the movie Buddy Boy? It's a weird film, not something I would ever watch more than twice in a lifetime, but the main actor Aiden Gillen really reminded me of Nny for some reason.

Agree with Blue Kitty on the Invincible thing, I've only read the first few story arcs, but they were pretty quality and would translate well to a tv show I would think.  Maybe a bit too smallville though... I dunno.

And something I've been wondering about your avatar, is it taken from Deadpool?  I know I've seen mini-xmen somewhere, but I'm not entirely sure.  While we're at it, Deadpool needs to be adapted to everything.  TV show, movie, lunchboxes and temporary tatoos.  Widdle Wade could be the star of his own family sitcom.  Or I would just be satisfied with him getting away from that stupid Cable guy.
