Help me name a song!
« on: 04 Feb 2007, 02:20 »

I have written a song and I cannot name it! This may be a silly idea, but I was wondering if you forum types had any ideas?

currently untitled!

I got screwed over because I started the song with a title and a definite idea in mind, but it morphed into something completely different.

How did you come up with the name Halo of Flies, for some reason I keep thinking I've heard the phrase before, can't think where though...

Anyway half way through the first listen an idea popped into my head, thinking about it it seems kind of cheesy now but how about "Immaculate Perception" based on the whole Neitszche thing, also as a sort of play on the whole "Immaculate Conception" thing.

The other idea that hit me the second time through was the whole vibe it had and the sort of feeling I got listening to it with my eyes closed. For some reason I was reminded me of the whole "Music of the Sphere's" concept, everything in the unvierse fitting into some invisible symphony, seemed all the difference elements you had sort of all merged together into this single tapestry. I tried to record a concept like that once but it didn't really turn out that well.

Anyway maybe calling it "Musica Universalis" or something, sounds pretinous as all hell but thats what I got out of it.

Other then that, I really liked that track, very relaxing, but me in a pretty good headspace for a while. Seemed very naturally put together, nothing came off sounding to forced if that makes sense...

Maybe something like FM SYNTHESIS: LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT would be suitable.

You obviously need something serious sounding... Whirling descentThe vain labour of SisyphusMy waking mind as palimpsest of dreams?   The final steps of Shiva's danceOnce more, the axe tastes Yggrasill's sap?

Bwahahahahahahkasdlshaskldhlas .. sorry.  This is supposed to be in good fun, sorry that I don't have any real suggestions.

This is cool, but unfortunately, I kind of already did a whole EP on that exact concept. The main track was called 'Solar Symphony', it's about 14 minutes long, and almost entirely composed of tones and radio-astronomy noises. To give some context, the other tracks I've got definitely already lined up for this album are 'Erisian Escalation', 'Cinema Inferno', 'Analog Rain pts. 1 and 2', 'The Culture of Death', 'Cunning and Wisdom' and 'Satanic Panic'.  Most pretentious song titles I've ever done are probably 'The Close Contriver of All Harms' and 'His Hair Was of a Lustrous Black' (quotations from Macbeth and Frankenstein respectively) lighter ones might be 'Stormclouds and Skrealings', 'Huxley Orwell Overdrive' . I'm not above gratuitous B-Movie sampling.

I took the name from an Alice Cooper song, as did another, now defunct band.

Ultimate Dicksucker.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.
