help with a mix cd please
« on: 10 Feb 2007, 14:30 »

so, one of my best friends is leaving to go teach english in japan next month. she might come back, she might not. i'm pretty gutted she's leaving, but it's a dream come true for her (being a geeked out anime/manga/all things japanese pop culture fan). so i'm making one cd of 'i'm sad you're leaving, travelly, going away to another country' CD, and one 'But it's like, the best thing ever so fucking party' CD. The party CD i've got covered, but I need help with the first one.

I don't know whether to make it downbeat post rock stuff for the flight, or indie rock/pop songs about leaving somewhere/a friend leaving. I need recs. What would you do? Help pls.

LEAVING ON A JETPLANE.

That is to say, I'd go with the indie leaving songs.

One of the best "I'm leaving" songs I've ever heard (sad ones anyways) is a song called past friendships by this somewhat local band called d.b.s.
Not sure if it's your kind of thing, but I choke up every time I hear it.
