Farewell, Candle Records.
« on: 14 Feb 2007, 04:44 »

Well, one of my favourite record labels is calling it a day. Candle Records is home to the Lucksmiths, the Simpletons, Darren Hanlon, the Mabels, Anthony Atkinson, and many other wonderful and lovely acts. If you've ever had a day cheered up by a heartening melody, ever had a smile brought to your face by a lyrical twist, from one of these acts, then I'm sure you'll be as sad as me about this news. So, in the expectation that few people here besides me and NickyAndTheFuture will much care, I just wanted to say:

Bye-bye, and thanks for everything, Candle Records.

P.S.: if you're in Melbourne, their birthday/farewell roadshow is hitting town this weekend.

I'm so disapointed I missed the farewell here in Sydney. Before the announcement I only knew Darren Hanlon, the Lucksmiths and Mid-State Orange. I liked all of them enough that I figured I'd take a punt and buy something else off the label from someone I hadn't heard of. Since then I've caught snipets of a bunch of the other artists; I think I'll be sending off for a whole bunch of albums now.

Get your hands on Anthony Atkinson's albums! He's great.

Oh that's a bummer. The Lucksmiths are super.
