QC really turned me onto a genre of music I really had no idea was so cool.

Arcade fire FTW.

exactly. I love  "discovering" music I've never heard. I'm not all that much into indie, because its mellow, and I'm a raver, so yeah.

but its always nice to hear new music.

thanks Jeph.

note: I just started reading QC a few weeks ago.

I remember Jeph always plugging metal and electronica shit, and eventually Pitchfork started to semi-cover and then fully-cover both of those genres. I'm not saying this is necessarily his power and influence at work, since it's just as likely Pitchfork realized we don't sit around listening to Pavement and Elliott Smith all day. Well, some of us anyway.

Heh, I don't electronica, metal, Pavement, or Elliot Smith with any sort of regularity.  Just a coincidence I suppose.  Or maybe I just haven't gotten ahold of any Pavement albums yet (I know, for shame).

I don't like to talk shit to people because they don't like the same music as me. I also don't like feeling superior to people because of it. Well, anymore. Heh.

Anyway, I adore Pavement and I would fellate Stephen Malkmus if given half a chance, but do I think everyone will or even should like them?? No.

I meant to say that I just need to listen to Pavement.  I wish to listen to Pavement of my own volition, not because you like them.  You need not feel superior. ;-)

WHAT?

(sorry i don't actually know about the electronica so i may be wrong on that count but i heartily disagree with pitch fork "fully" covering the metal genre
