Another Token Recomendations thread
« on: 01 Mar 2007, 17:07 »

ok gridgms run out of things to listen too again and is asking for recomendations i am however setting no boundaries on the recomending..i'm prepared to listen to most things once and i'm sure you've worked out something about my taste in music by what i've posted on the boards...i may be wrong however which is why you get this

http://www.last.fm/user/gridgm/ ... please note that i usually listen to music on my mp3 player so that's not the most accurate list printed either

rules
-i will kill the 5th person who mentions spiderland
-i will kill the 3rd person who mentions anal cunt
-i will kill random people just cause i feel like it (and this case kill means have an argument....unlike the last two)
-dance music isn't apreciated although as i said i will listen too anything once

I see that alot of metal is looking to folk music for inspiration. So if you are not afraid to listen to actual folk music, have you ever heard of Schooner Fare? This is probably their best song if you want to give it a try. http://www.restoreliberty.com/powdermonkey.htm The lyrics are almost ideal for a metal song too.

If you're looking for stupid random music, try "Bloody Anus", If you like underground Punk try, "Highway Magic" and "boLth" (all three are on Myspace), like something harder? "Disturbed" is pretty much amazing if you are into mainstream. I saw that you like some classic rock and some 80's music, have you tried "Twisted Sister"? Also, "DragonForce" is absolutely amazing. They have a classic rock feel to them!

Or a splendid concept. Read the recommendation threads instead of rehashing them. There are probably months worth of musical suggestions available.

okay I didn't really know how to make an argument for them but here it goes...
Disturbed plays more hardcore/metal ish and they make you want to get up and rebel against all of your represors...

Twisted Sisters is pretty much the same. They are all about the teenage rebellion. I like to listen to them to get myself pumped up.

Dragonforce's songs sound like they come out of the late 70's and early 80's. It makes you feel like you did the first time you listened to Bubba O'Riely.

Is that kinda what you are looking for?

Can't resist a good recommendation thread.

Some funky rock albums which I have been greatly enjoying recently:

Catherine Wheel - "Chrome", "Happy Days"
Innaway - self-titled
Kingston Wall - "I", "II" and "III - Trilogy" (random Finnish psychedelic rock band from the nineties, released 3 albums in as many years then the singer jumped off a church and that was that. brilliant.)
Slowdive - Souvlaki (great shoegazy stuff for getting high and passing out to)
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - everything? If you haven't heard these guys, "Tyranny of Distance" is essential, "Shake The Sheets" is funky as hell, and the new one "Living With The Living" might well be the best one yet.

On the metal front, The Wounded - Atlantic is pretty cool.

Ok so the second half is a bit more subjective but yeah.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Maybe a hearty slappin'. Some kind of hand-to-face contact anyway.

actually amok is exactly right at least as to why i quoted rule 3 at you

i have heard all three of the bands mentioned above and really i'm looking for something i havn't heard before

personal opinion disturbed do deserve to be punched in the face, twisted sister...for me they seem like kindof a hit wonder with we're not gonna take it desipte their extensive back catalogue, dragon force ... dragon force ... dragon force ... despite the fact that yes they can play fast that seems to be the extent of their musical talent backed up by some of the cheesier lyrics ever witnessed by power metal sure it's fun for a while but if i want technical i'll stick to g3 and if i want power metal i'll stick to grave digger

For metal, try these:

Meshuggah
At the Gates
Nile
Scar Symmetry

Try dredg and Jeff Buckley, too.

I'm from Barcelona's record 'Let me introduce my friends' sounds kind of like flaming lips. I especially recommend collection of stamps and treehouse.
