You know, I haven't actually listened to any Maserati because I can't find any at local record stores to pick up and try a listen to. I'd rather listen to whole songs then thirty second clips off iTunes or Amazon. So tell me more about this Maserati.

Basically Maserati sound like the most bad-ass 80s television you could ever imagine, and then modernized.  Which is what I meant by my original post.  Some post-rock bands sound like movie soundtracks.  Maserati sound like TV soundtracks.  Only infinitely better.  They are somewhat similar to early Trans Am in that they are totally one hundred percent precise.  There is no slop.  They sound like a well-made car runs.  They sound like a Maserati looks.  One of the songs on the new album I described as "The soundtrack to the baddest motherfucker on the planet walking through a Tokyo nightclub in slow-motion."

One might be tempted to coin a stupid term like "pop post-rock".

I guess another way to describe it is that they're not as self-consciously epic as most other post-rock bands, relying instead on using post-rock to punch you in the damn face.

Yes, they don't seem to have the sadness/emotional baggage of your basic GY!BE or Mono or whatever.  You can totally rock the fuck out to Maserati.  If I were the kind of guy who owned an iPod and worked out while listening to it, I would totally just put Maserati on repeat.

Seeing as how Wikipedia has nothing on Maserati, what the hell should I start with? I don't feel like going out for a Maserati complete discography purchase now, as I am almost hopelessly broke.

Well, they only have two albums.  Get the new one.  It doesn't come out until May, though.
